hi slinky ! if you've got enough butt cheek flesh to sit out the long times polar needs to post, (check the posting times) you're free to take over my part of this trade. -i thought i was patient, but slowly, i'm getting annoyed... i'm out btw.

"in vino veritas est" 'cause i'm really drunk right now, blame my professor...
-
kinda yes, but it's not actually a band, and i'm not playing an instrument. just programming hiphop and other beats... ->beatnerdz so i voted with a no.

i'm eating "salzstangen" -similar to what americans call prezels, but in stick-shape.. -i guess it would be salt sticks then.

tigger fun ! [attachmentid=348]

definitly, there's something with those cymbals, sound more natural in #1 to me as well. but i couldn't have heard it without comparison. sp-love !

thanks, -i was tryin to avoid it, -i feel so old, somehow... but it didn't work, had a very busy birthday... just simple-burning one of my presents: morcheeba - the antidote.

cotton buds = q-tips ? -q-tips by assumption: -ear cleaning - fine, if you use them the right way -lens cleaning - suboptimal, since they leave tiny cotton hair pieces on their way if you're not careful. using solvents on those lenses is potentially dangerous, but pure ethanol (="alcohol") should be ok. there are special brushes for photo lens cleaning, perhaps you could use one of those. (dry) -since the lens is covered, there should only be dust, no fat smears or such, and dry cleaning should work quite right. i once peeked inside of one of those lens cleaning md's, there's a brush attached at a certain spot, which brushes the lense once for each revolution. seems pretty rough to me. i'd prefer one of those photo lens brushes, but that requires disassembly...

plus Mr. Joe Sixpack doesn't even know there IS a difference between a bought cd and downloaded mp3's, nor could he tell the difference in soundquality.

You're talking about the rm-mc38el, right ? i tried. hard. and almost broke it. finally failed. it's not designed to be opened, that's for shure. -i got it partly opened, using hard fingernail action to separate those two shells (they're clipsed together) but it still stuck at the volume control thingy. all the buttons fell out, and it was a real pain in the a** to get them back in. my advice is: dont try it. -it has loose wires ? where ? -and how did you treat it to get loose wires ?

Björk - Homogenic haven't heard it since a while, one of her best albums if you ask me..

what took you so long ? almost gave up hope already.. the thing with that wordplay sounds great, i'm into that, -concerning german raps, but it's sometimes difficult for me to get the point of it with english stuff. -already heard of grime ? (uk hiphop) for the foreign languages you don't understand, when i started listening to hiphop, i hardly knew any english, but it was no problem at all, ok, you don't get the lyrics fully, but you get the antmosphere, and can still enjoy the rhymes and flows... i'll try to keep an international perspective... -i've got a meeting with a dj-friend of me sceduled, to record some of his stuff. (he's got a really good collection) if you're not afraid of waiting another 2 weeks or so, you'll get some of those as well...

jeru the damaja - devine design. just simple burned it, time for some listening...

Hi, i had the idea, when i made my own custom background, i found that the rest of the prog didn't fit any more. so i started browsing the "sonicstage/data/image" folder, and the first thing i found was the plash screen ("/image/customize", the titlebars are there as well, and were the next step...), which was easy to mod, and currently looks like this: [attachmentid=241] note that it only is a placeholder and far from finished. the title should be considered as a little gag, the idea behind my mod is to quit the shining, so it's the anti-shine skinmod. when i had the splash screen, i was completely fascinated by customizing other folders, and there i went.. my method was simple: i browsed all folders (ok, i missed some of them, there's plenty) and drawed a replacement icon for each icon i found, including the path of the icon, to be able to replace it afterwards. some buttons and icons are made of separate files, i skipped those, to keep the first run simple. most of the files are bmp, some few are png. (png is used if there's transparency needed) there are (mostly) four different images for each button: normal, hot (mouse over), pushed and disabled. i scanned those drawings, and started replacing the images using a complete backup of the "/data/images" folder. (mainly photoshop, a little of windows paint for some bmps that wouldn`t open in ps.) i also changed the "recording finished" sound. when i had that done i simply replaced the original with my modded image folder and started ss. this is how it looks now: [attachmentid=242] i used ss 3.0, i don't know how much there's changed with 3.1, but anyways, trying is on your own risk, and be shure to have the original "/image" folder backed up somewhere, in case it shouldn't work, or you'd want to go back ! here is the rar file including the modded image folder and the scans (jpg): http://mo.beatnerdz.com/ss-skinmod/ss-skinmod_v0.01.rar it's far from finished, but much fun using. it's a little bumpy (using the buttons) but that's part of the concept of this skin.. and there's one (known) bug, since i misinterpreted one button. ("connect music store button") where i'm completely stuck is changing the layout, i have not the slightest clue of xml, and this is where MAJOR changings could be made. like i had the idea of letting the xml's refer to png's instead of bmp's so one could add more (partly) transparent stuff or at least change the used font. but i have too much respect of that to touch it.. any help would be greatly appreciated. transfer mp3: record via optical or analog cable, but that's realtime only. you'll only have the codecs that are available on the unit. you can tranfer your mp3 from pc -> md as often as you wish. md -> pc is only to source pc. rip cd's with sb: you can even rip from mounted images, and if you're lucky, cddb recognizes the album and enters the titles correctly.. ->sb only reads audio cds, (no matter if burned or original) but you can burn mp3 to an image, mount it to a virtual drive, and there you go.

bummer. -but on second thought... [-insert rant here-]

a rough sketch. scanner has depth issues, i had to raise the contrast, which makes it look kinda FX-ed. but i think it won't last long...

have you tried different phones ? perhaps there's a bad contact at the plug or something you could also try using an adapter. or perhaps there's dirt inside the socket ?
-
you've got black hi mds ? i thought, there were only blue ones ? all 'old school md' will work (60/74/80minutes)
-
if i understand you right, you want to use your nhf800 to record, and then play it back on that mz-r37. first you need to know, that the mz-r37 is not capable of reading "hi-md formatted disks". this device can only read usual mds that are not reformatted to hi-md. you can use your nhf800 to make readable discs for the r37 if you select "md mode" either in sonic stage or on your unit. (depending on if you want to transfer via usb or actually record on the unit). however you'll only get the usual 80 minutes out of one disk. it doesn't actually take more space, you just get less space out of one disk, and you only have one codec ( sp that is)
-
i believe it´s possible, the only thing you need is a el-foil that is fully transparent. (just like the afterburner-kit, which is unfortunately no longer available, and very expensive anyways) -i just dissected my nh900 to remove some dust that was between the diplay and the cover, and i think that the space there should be sufficient to apply. if you take a closer look at the display of your unit, you can see that there's about 0.5mm space between the cover and the display. i think there's not much that can be done to the display itself, since it's in a metal frame, should be hard to mod that. but i'll investigate on those foils. [attachmentid=201] [attachmentid=202] could it be possible to access the "el-power" from the remote somehow ? this would be the most practical source, since it offers auto-on/off..

have you already tried marcnet's HiMd Renderer ?

nah, i meant that in a wider audio context, like a hifi cd-deck will most likely outperform a pc playing a cd, or mp3, or an akai s-1000 sampler will sound fatter (subjectively !) than any software sampler. -because it's got its own distinctive sound that won't ever change. a good example for this: the snes/famicom had a faulty design in it's sound-device, that would kind of enhance the bass. when the early emulators for snes came out, they were rejected due to "bad sound". so they had to emulate that "error" too. -hardware even sounds better, when it actually sounds worse, see ? of course there's some kind of software behind most hardware, but there's no point in comparing SonicStage with the "software" in a hifi cd-deck, you´ll agree... and this software behind the hardware doesn't change, so your listening gets used to the sound ad thereby is able to hear more exactly. you mean D/A conversion ? see, here it starts, theres a multitude of soundcards, and most of them don't have good converters, the next thing is inside a pc case, there's lots of em-interference and stuff. so you need an external converterbox. etc. so nothing ever sounds identically. vinyl ? analogue synths ? the less software, the better -if you will i think it's clear now, that's not what i'm talking about. mp3 is inherently designed for software, (that is on a pc) and has made it's way to portable music due to convenience. by hardware i meant a dedicated device that is only about that one thing. i hope you got me now, sorry for not making my point clear in the first place, i thought it would be clear, since i added "this applies to all kinds of audio equipment" @bug80: you're right that is a unfair comparison, but since there's neither true sp in sonicstage nor on 1gb media, hi-sp as its hi-md equivalent has got to bear that.
-
my opinion: Hardware always sounds better than software, period.* *this applies to all kinds of sound equipment. perhaps that's because the hardware always sounds identically, whereas software slightly changes and you don't really get used to it's sound because it's always changing. (like, if you've got a new pair of speakers, in the beginning they might sound weird, but after getting used to them they're good) just recently i listened to a true sp-recording i made with my old sharp (cd-analog-md) and was astounded by the sound quality, seemed much brighter and clearer than Hi-Sp. but perhaps my perception of hi-sp is disturbed due to mp3 transcoding and stuff, who knows..? it's all very subjective, in the end..
