Only the Asia-Pacific version is of English UI and if you can't read Japanese, the former version would obviously be the better choice.

I have always used the Japanese version of SonicStage for obvious reason and it never requires one to conduct hardware initialization. Other users have reported that the Asia-Pacific version of SonicStage offers the same benefit as well. So, you may want to explore this route.

Yes, the option I've outlined is within both "properties" of the album (option is below artist) and tracks (option is below rating) in question. Unfortunately, there are no simple way if tracks within the mix are not sorted as it should by SonicStage. The best route to display compilation albums is by using "View by Albums; Sort by Artist" and apply the suggestion I have outlined in the preceding posts. This is a very tedious task indeed, but it works. Just for your reference, let's assume that your huge compilation CD was composed/arranged by John Digweed. Accordingly, ensure that all tracks belonging to the album mix "A" is by artist "John Digweed" and click "Tracks in the compilation albums" for all tracks belonging to the mix. I have done this with no problems with the Global Underground Series.

Yes, indeed. Richard is quite right. The VAIO Pocket will only display Chinese characters as long as it's available within the Japanese Kanji library. Unfortunately, Chinese firmware for this unit does not exist.

Welcome to ATRACLife! To organize individual tracks of the same album: Ensure that you select "Tracks in the compilation albums" (within track properties) on the tracks in question. In addition, ensure that all the tracks of the same album have identical album title. Note: Because by default, SonicStage sort music tracks by artist, tracks of the same album but with various artists will be placed as individual tracks. Thus, you will need to re-organize the tracks accordingly as outlined above.

It seems that the regional version (usually either EU or US) of SonicStage 3.4 you have installed requires you to reinitialize the VAIO Pocket. If you do not require CONNECT music service, please try installing the Asia-Pacific version of SonicStage 3.4. Most users have reported that the Asia-Pacific version does not require re-initialization of the ATRAC device. I personally utilize the Japanese version and never had to reinitialize any of my ATRAC devices thus far. If you should require CONNECT music service module, please let me know and I will provide you with (the latest US CONNECT module) a separate add-on module so you can add to the Asia-Pacific version of SonicStage 3.4. Good luck and report back should you decide to take this route.

SonicStage 3.4 is fully compatible with the VAIO Pocket. I can confirm this as I have the unit. What sort of issues are you experiencing?
