Cabaret Voltaire "International Language"

From my experience no. I have both units and I like MZ-RH10 better. 1. I can't pinpoint it but I think that the MD players sounds better. 2. The build of the HD-5 id solid and makes less noise than that of the RH-10. If I had my drothers I would choose the RH-10. I only have the HD-5 because I am on the road quite a bit. I need to carry alot of music with me because my taste change on a daily basis. It sounds good but, not as good as the RH-10. The RH-10 is easier to create playlist and move tracts were you want them.

This is probably true which sucks. I really hate silver models they look so lame. I would be cool to get a black model. I can't wait to get one. I'm not a fan of the big display screen; that scratches way to easy.

Not to be redundent. This is the best news for some time. I had recently purchased a HD-5 DAP; knowing that this was going to be a last of its kind. I'm not really satisfied with this purchase because it is not MD. I went to purchase some more MD's last Sat. and was looking for another MD unit to buy. Thinking that MD was doomed too. I'm glad to hear that another gen of Hi-MD is going to be released. I feel like we all got a stay of execution. What can I say I love MD 11 yrs and growing.

I read the post for the new SS and though to myself cool. So I download and install SS 3.4 so that I would have more options with my Hi-MD. But I find out that now I have to intiallize my HD-5 in order to be recogized with SS 3.4 I only had 3000 or so songs download since I purchased it last week. No big deal since I was going to organize my playlist better anyway. But you can go into the Sonic Stage folder under packages/optimized files and drag them back to Sonic Stage and transfer them all over again without having to burn new CD's

I envy you I can't find HI-MD's within a 400 Mile radius of where I live. I do travel quite a bit but rarely outside this area. The only place I find them is in Sony stores at a ridiceous price of $8 USD. I buy disc where ever I can find them and players as well because I fear that in the future both will be harder to come by. I would buy online but I am never home long enough to recieve any type of packages.

I have 8 HI-MD's my goal is 20. I have a boatload about 100+ Legacy SP MD's. About 80 or so MDLP's MD's. I keep buy 5 MD's a month since last October. For more Legacy MD recordings.

Thanks Greenmachine; I had to try (0,-1,-1,-1,-1,-1) setting and found that records(vinyl)sounded much better. I like this setting. Nomally I listen to everything flat but, I using cheap headphones EX-71's and they are a bit bright and a little tubby in the bass. Of course this is a intital reaction but I will give it a week of listening to see if it sticks.

A Hard Days Night. Even after 40 some years it is still a classic.

I had a roomate that had a MD player. We shared a big loft and we would have bands play there he would make soundboard records of the shows for the bands. I have always had alot of music and spent alot of money for 4ad releases some which where very hard to come by in rural midwest. Before CD-R's I wanted to preserve a Dif Juz recording and used an MD to do it for posterity. Back then disc were about the same price as a CD itself. In 1994 I had saved enough money to buy my first MD player. In the mid 90's it seemed MD was taking off the prices of disc came down and you could buy pre-recorded disc. I thought this was the future. I'd at that time have amassed over 1,500 cassettes from records I had owned at the time. I've always been a very mobile person and chosen cassettes to use in my mobile lifestyle. MD made so much more sense so I dived even further into the MD lifestyle. By 2000? Net MD came out and I got sucked in further and a few years after that HiMD. Right now I am on the road and listen to a HiMD recording and loving it. I get bored with music styles very easily and MD' flexabilty to meet those needs. In short it was a roomate who doesn't even use MD's anymore. I saw what a great medium it was and latched on.

I don't have alot of exposure to cheap headphones but, I've really enjoyed My Grados SR-60's KOSS KTXPRO1's (Great Sound for under $20) and Sony EX-51's and 71's I really can't tell the difference. (Not pretty decent sound for under $50)

I don't hate SS but I really don't like it!!! 1. It is soooo slow to start-up 2. It eat-up memory. 3. Even with Atrac files transfers take for ever on your intial transfer and then copies of the files are stored up on you hard drive See #2. I use Simple Burner before I use SS but sometimes I get mp3 files and have to use SS and it sucks.

I appears that you want to record from you computer. Am I right? If you have a CD/DVD player with optical out and a optical input on your MD unit; then I would record in real time at the Highest bit rate available to you. I prefer Legacy SP myself. I only do this for recordings that are good recordings (Quality and/or Performance) to begin with. MP3's and other music I use Simple Burner or Optical a LP2 for HiLP depending in the situation I goin' to listen my music. I travel alot so I don't want to carry alot of disc so I use HiLP. I does sound pretty good but I would never play it on my home unit. 1(I don't have a player at home that plays HiLP) 2(It sounds weak on a hi-fi system from my player) For party's and background music at home I'll use LP2. In this format is what I make party mixes. Best: So in short for serious home listening Legacy SP (Digital) Better: LP2 Simple Burner (Computer) for Party Mixes and background music Good: HiLP For (computer transfers) i.e. MP3's and travel mixes Opinions will vary on this but in my experience this is how I see it. I've been using MD for over 11 yrs. I love this format!!!

I recently was looking for travel speakers for my MD player/computer/guitar. I found at Radio Shack a pair of speakers for $19.99 under the Presidian brand. It takes four AAA batteries. The sound is quite good for 20 bucks descent bass respectively. Nothing to blow you socks-off but pretty good. It is designed for the I-pod but you can us any player. I really like the sound from Harmon Kardon speakers that sell for $40-$50 USD. Good tonal balance and soundstage. Bass is real not forced and not too bloated. I personally like Creative Labs speakers especially the ones Cambridge Soundworks designed. I bought a pair about 9 years ago for $40 and I really have found any comp speaker sound as good as them for even 6x the amount. I do own a pair from Cambridge Soundworks I paid $250 10 yrs. ago that really sound good. In short for the money Creative Labs or Harmon Kardon you can't go wrong especially for under $80.

I couldn't resist this one here. I love beer. Cheap Beer: Old Style, Milwaukee's Best, PBR Stout: Bemish (one of my top five), Rouge Chocolate Stout and Shakespear Stout, Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout. Brown: Avery (Boulder, Colo.), Stone (Calif) IPA: Racer 5 & X (Bear Republic/Calif), Arrogant Bastard (Stone/Calif), Avery (Boulder, Colo)- this what a IPA should taste like. Pale Ale: Mantorville (the best I have ever had) In the Rochester,MINN area and can be found in Rochester bars. (Mantorville,MN) {Hopualia (My personal favorite which I drink every day) (Cortland,NE) *it is a dry hopped beer, a good all around beer for all seasons}, Point Pale Ale (Stevens Point, Wis) Bitter: Marstons Pedigree (England), Addams Suffork SSB (England) I could go on and on the are so many styles so I just touching on my favorite styles. Others would be New Belgium "Abbey Grand Du Cru" (FT Collins, Colo) Warsteiner Dunkel (Germany) Monshol Schwartz Bier (Germany) Bitburger (Germany) Fisher's (France) There are so many great beers out there I wish I could live long enough to taste them all. Right now I am drinking a Avery IPA and I follow up that with a Thunderhead IPA (Kearney, NE) If you ever travel down I-80 through Nebraska, I recomend that you stop there. I do every time I pass by there. Maybe in the future I will run down German, Chech, and Polish Beers. I couldn't resist this one here. I love beer. Rarely I have to hide my equipt. Most security is uninformed what a MD recorder is in the first place. But at times I place all my equipt under a hat, with wire tuck into the brim and MD on top of my head. Most of the time I wear a sportcoat and put the MD player in to the inside cigarette pocket and the mic and battery case in the change pocket. I've been doing this for years and haven't got caught yet.

I've playing with my new turntable today, all day. After reading this post it dawned on me. MD is goin' the way of the Vinyl album/turntable. I could not just go to any store and buy a good turntable. In some areas you might have to do mail order or on-line to find one. I had to travel two hours (135 miles) away to get mine. I also went to six stores yesterday that had previously carried MD's and Players; they are all on clearance or the store has got rid of them entirely. I forsee in the future it will require the same amount of effort to buy Player/recorders and disc as I do for Vinyl and Turntables. Vinyl still exist and there is a market for vinyl but, not a big one. MD is not goin away it's goin' underground

Is there software existing that enables me to transfer my songs stored on my minidiscs (in ATRAC format) onto my ipod? The answer unfortunatly is NO. Not with Net MD
