which walkman did you buy? second which cable are you refering to? if you mean the usb-wm-port cable then no way should it cost 65bucks. most sony products designed for ipods will not work with walkmans since if it does not say wm-port then it will not support the walkman. There are new sony products that have the wm-port that will work with the walkman.

it is since it has the wm-port. my dock only fits my 818 with the adapter when I have no silicone skin attached to it. When the walkman is in the skin, then I have to remove the adapter. TC the new walkmans will work on a mac, K-bench reviewed the new E44x series and the device even worked on windows 7 which is technically still not supported by sony walkmans. http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44610 people have used walkmans with macs, since it shows up as a removeable drive. reviews from cnet have stated the device goes into UMS move on non-windows base OSes.

looks good, has that sony feeling to it, by that I mean the black and dark greys like in their products.

I've seen other reviews state the speakers are fine but only lacking bass but then this is no surprise. senseme sucked bad, noise cancellation would be nice but then this would boost the price by at least 50-75 bucks. it's simple the new S is a basic player with great sound and large screen, nothing more nothing less, and of course at a good price.

Large headphones are a no no for me, portability is key, so I stick ones which shipped with my A818, the EX85s, I also have a backup pair of ex71s which I got for free when I exchanged my broken ones

Welcome to the SI forums, we will now slowly convert you to the new drag and drop sony mp3 players j/k I used to be an MD man but found that speed is issue for me when transferring songs onto a device and drag and drop is a major plus over the MD and which older analog gear do you mean? a cassette walkman?

That is good to hear, I still own a MD unit and the older atrac mp3 players, but then again who knows what the future for win7 holds.

I checked google and various sites and so far nothing has emerged, if anything is to debut it would happen at IFA in early september with a press release most likely on the 31st of august, but the odd thing is, the new S is on sale already but no one has bought it or at least got it delivered. So if no A series debuts then I doubt the X will drop in price leaving me without a new mp3 player for while.

I doubt this person picked up the device legally, unless they used sony points and only had to spend 20 bucks to get to the final price.

well my vote is def yes, gapless can be done with mp3 and other players have it, so i am sure sony can do it if the others can. Why does sony cripple their players year after year.

I personally was expecting sony to give in and announce it once the leak was made, but I guess this is not their style. My assumption is sony will hold off and announce it before IFA.

Indeed it does seem like many sites have given props to SI, but then a lot have not and just quote the material.net site as the source.
