  1. I didn't even know that Wal-Mart even had MD blanks until someone posted about the clearance. I was actually surprised to see the blue 1GB Hi-MD blanks at a huge chain electronics store here (Frys Electronics) and they opened up less than a year ago. It's nice to know I can have them on hand, not have to wait for shipping, and not have to pay for shipping, but the best bargains and variety for MD are really found online and sometimes with patience.
  2. Hope it includes a 401K, a decent medical/dental plan, and several stock options. Maybe a nice signing bonus, too. Something little. Like a Nano. The EX90. Or, go even littler with some Etymotics.
  3. Not so over here, my friend. It really depends on your region and/or country. Canada and the UK are reporting the same as you for their Wal-Marts and Asda stores (owned by Wal-Mart, I'm told), respectively. I have found 4 Wal-Marts in my area that have had 5 or more packs of Sony Color Collection MDs on clearance. They started off at $5 (for 5) and now they are currently $3. On top of that, these Wal-Marts also have the PSYC black/orange or white/green DN430 on clearance for $30 (down from $80). Each store had at least 4 downloaders, brand new in their blister packaging. Best Buy here still sells Sony, Maxell, and Fuji MDs in 5-packs, 15-packs, or 8-packs. Circuit City has the Fuji and Memorex MDs. Frys has the blue, newer 1GB Hi-MD blanks ($8), Sony Color Collection 8-packs and 15-packs, the PSYC black/orange DN430 for $30, and the PSYC white/yellow/grey downloader (I forgot the model) for $60. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=15874 Take note of the last 2 sentences in that post.
  4. You didn't confuse me. I knew you were kidding. And, in case you missed it, I was being sarcastic when I replied to you.
  5. Smemo: Welcome to the forum. I love your attitude!
  6. What would you do though if you were to lose/break the charging cradle? 1. Buy a replacement cradle = $$ 2. Buy another Li-ion-using unit (NH1, NH3D, DH10P, EH1, RH1) so that you can charge your NH1's battery = $$$$ By the way, I also have an NH1 and I don't care for the RH10, so I'm not hating. I like the life and weight of the lithium ion battery, but for me, the LIP4WM is not one of the NH1's (and the above's) strong points over the RH10 (and other units that don't use the LIP4WM). Sony proprietary parts at their greatest.
  7. Unfortunately, yeah, and I'm sure I'm missing out on some great headphones. I was also looking at the SR60, but I don't think I can deal with that "look" either (and that they're not as portable as the others I'm considering).
  8. NET MD MZ-10? Do you mean MZ-N10? If so, then the battery is an internal lithium ion, no?
  9. In addition to the MDR-710 already mentioned, I've also been thinking about: AKG K26P Audio Technica FC7 Be scared of the PortaPros. I am.
  10. Oooh. But, wait. My knowledge on and experience with audio gear, electronics, and George Lucas is VERY limited. You would feel a great disturbance in the Force.
  11. I don't have a British pound key, but the lowest that I've seen for brand new and in the box is on eBay from 3 sellers (minidiscmini, pramit, digitallimits2003): NH700 US$125 (includes shipping, but not sure about international shipping) NHF800 US$150 (same) These are their buy-it-now prices. Sometimes if you participate in their auctions, the units can be had for less than that. Good luck!
  12. LOL. Adrian, the Spam Lords will have a bounty on your head. I think Spam would much prefer your SA1000 though. Oh, and posting rights to Damaged Gears!
  13. I like that album. My favorites are Frank Sinatra and The Distance.
  14. Daniel: You need to stop taking all those study breaks with the MDCF pictorials.
  15. I'm with raintheory. The NH700 for starters. The RH10 has an OLED display. The RH1 is the latest and currently top-of-the-line as far as recorders go. That equipment browser (that raintheory showed you) will come in really handy and there are tons of pictorials/reviews of each unit in the appropriate sub-forum (as seen here: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showforum=93). Good luck!

    Is it real?

I'm not a fan of the NH600's look at all (especially the silver), but the white makes it look 100x better. Thanks for the find, Peter.
  17. LOL. Adrian, I'm enjoying your modifications A LOT.
  18. The RH1 has an "improved" HD digital amp (deals with sound quality). The RH910 and RH10 have just the digital amp (improves battery life). But, there are quite a few RH910/RH10 owners that love the sound of their unit.
  19. Very true. I've heard the TriPorts on an iPod Shuffle. In fact, at most of the Circuit Cities here, they have the TriPorts hooked up at their CD listening stations. And, I feel that sound quality is highly subjective anyway. But, it's just that (most) Head-Fiers find anything labeled with "Bose" to be undesirable, not for sound quality alone, but for the overall package, which includes price, build, etc - things that should be taken into account when buying anything. And, as you know, the people over there will spend hundreds (sometimes nearly thousands), so it can't be just price that they're looking at when they object to someone buying the Bose TriPorts.
  20. #1 5-pack of Sony Color Collection 80 min blanks - now $3 (although they may still be stickered as $5) #2 PSYC black/orange or white/green DN430 NetMD - now $30 (down from $80), brand new in package, not refurbished Please note: The only catch is these deals are not available online. Availability and color selection will vary from store to store.
  21. Not sure yet, Damage. Maybe we can do a group trade. What's say you throw in your SA1000 and I'll throw in my N505? I love clowny tools.
  22. Edit: Oops, I didn't read your 2nd paragraph carefully enough. Sorry for the reply.
  23. No offense, Nismo, but you're sugar-coating it a little (possibly to spare Stuge's feelings, I'd imagine, so that's fine). I think there is more TriPort bashing compared to TriPort praising, by a landslide. Daniel: You know how people here generally react to someone buying an iPod? That's how people usually react over at Head-Fi when someone buys the Bose TriPorts, hence Ishiyoshi's comment about not revealing this info over at that forum. It's like feeding you to the lions.
