Why not both? If you do a search on eBay for "Sony R70," you can see that on average, that unit (depending on accessories and what-not) has been selling for US$50. You can always put it on eBay and then post a link to your auction in here. Posting pictures is a must if you want interest in your R70 as there aren't too many people who want legacy units now that Hi-MD is becoming affordable. But, you never know who is lurking these forums - legacy fanatics, MD collectors, R70 users, etc. Good luck!

After seeing what Rich and Ishi posted in the "what are you listening to" thread:

Amen, adrian. Reminds me of this excerpt from the Conan O'Brien show: http://www.milkandcookies.com/article/924/ (Click on the dog to start the movie.)

As far as I know, the USB cable for the N10 and NH1 are the same. But, just looking at the rear of my NH1 and a pic of the N10's rear, it doesn't look like the cradles are interchangeable (the cradle latch is centered on the NH1 while it's offset on the N10). Maybe someone with both units can confirm this though.

Yeah, it is definitely not worth fixing an older unit, especially something like the N505. Repairs will cost you more than the actual value of the unit and that is IF they can fix it. You are much better off getting another recorder, either Hi-MD or not. Try eBay or other e-tailers for used, new, or refurbished. Good luck.

You can never have too many pics. The EH1 is a fine replacement for your EH70.
-
If you go to "Members" (top right), you can search for users by join date. Couldn't find #1 - Nick Perry, maybe? Webmaster is #2 though.
-
They should function the same (both downloader-only), and you can swap MDs between units since they're both NetMD-MDLP-capable. But if you want to be completely sure, check the equipment browser and look at the pdf of their manuals. If I remember correctly, Aiwa = Sony subsidiary.

lol Looks like the remote may cost you more than the unit itself. Congrats on the great deal. Post some pics if you can. Sharp MD-M1 remote

lol I'm such an amateur photographer that I'm not even sure if my T7 can do that. You're making me re-read the user's manual now. Haha, tempter! The RH1 doesn't give me any functional benefit over my current units and I'm not too keen on its shape/styling; so after getting the EH1, I think I can say I'm officially done with "needing" any other MD unit. But, "wanting" is another matter. Got my eye on the blue EH930. I found one more pic showing a better comparison of the slight difference between the silver NH1 and EH1.
-
Thanks, Ishiyoshi! Looking at all your pictorials (yep, I did look at ALL) has helped my photography skills a lot. I'll take some pics of the NH3D tomorrow during the day and post a pictorial. The camera flash and artificial light are terrible for taking pics of that particular unit. Going off of Tiesto's comment, once you get the NH3D, your poker hand will be a royal flush. @ Tiesto. Greedy is it!
-
Thanks. And oops, sometimes I have a hard time keeping track of who else is on that board. I included an extra one of the NH1/EH1 (the color difference is a little drastic in that pic though). The top pic is the more true-to-life one for all 3 units. Hope you don't have to wait too long for your EH1. You'll find out soon enough that there is life beyond black.
-
Just a few pics for you, Tiesto.
-
Just a little tip. Don't double (Edit) triple post or post in unrelated threads/forums or the Powers That Be will not like it.

It sounds like Musician's Friend is starting to skimp on the packaging now. I'm glad I ordered from them back in March when they still shipped MDs in a padded box. I wonder if they're differing their packing styles according to buyer location.
-
Hope you're not too disappointed that the "silver" EH1 is actually more of a dark grey. It's darker than the silver NH1. Have you tried Japan Direct? They still have the black EH1 for sale, for a price though.
-
Now, now, no need for comments like that. Just change the channel or keep yourself busy during the time that retarded show airs. Who cares what others are doing with their lives or what others think is entertainment, right? We'll turn you into MELLOWBADGER in no time.
-
Like I'm doing with T-Board. Nothing against them, but I have exams, so I'm currently sticking to MDCF, where I don't post as much (and can spend more time studying - hopefully). I'm sure we'll get an interesting story from Ray when he gets back.

For the NH700 and NHF800, you can bookmark tracks, but I'm not for certain if you can bookmark within a track. I've used the bookmarking function with my NH1 before (I haven't tried it on my other MD units though) - you just hold enter for 2 seconds. The bookmarked tracks will play only per their track number and in no other order. You can also erase the bookmarks as the track is playing. Whether this bookmark-type playback is intact once the disc is ejected will have to be confirmed by someone else as I don't have access to my MD units right now.

spindizzy is right. The EH1 requires 500mA and your source supplies 800mA (you need the source's maximum mA to be equal to or greater than what your unit needs). The output of 6V matches. And, the input range of 100-240V covers HK (and pretty much anywhere in the world). Congrats on the EH1.
-
If we can get your location (USA, UK, AUS, etc), it'd be easier for us to give you some suggestions as shipping charges may make or break a good deal. Congrats on your new RH1.
-
Actually, your recommendations, or should I say criticisms, of the RH1 are based on its ability to function as a playback-only unit, not as an overall Hi-MD unit.
-
No, not unusable, but just like you said: When you weigh its pros against its cons, the cons are miniscule compared to what the RH1 is capable of and the components it has audio-wise. Sure, the RH1 is more of a recorder's unit, but it can also be a great player whether it has a jog dial or 5-line display or not. In fact, most of the greatest "player-only" units do not have any kind of display or jog dial on the body, relying solely on the remote for navigation. Are you now going to say that all 30+ of those player-only units are terrible players? Probably not. For a majority of the MD population, a jog dial and unit display do not make or break a unit's reputation. You'll find it quite difficult to convince owners of the EH1, DS70, E730, S77, etc, that their player is crap because it has no display, jog dial, etc.
-
Another vote for the NHF800/NH700. There are 3 pretty popular eBay sellers (Edit: digitallimits, minidiscmimi, pramit) that have those units for sale - $125 for the NH700 and $150 for the NHF800, including shipping. Or, if you can wait for their auctions, the units sell for slightly cheaper. I also have a video iPod and you'll find that a Hi-MD unit complements it well. Good luck!

Sure does! Sure can! Tell your friend to enjoy the deal.
