  1. Ok if it is installed now , open the prog by double kliking it in Applications. It has to be open to recocnize PM me for more help
  2. where did you see that , plaese post the link , I would like to know if they would fix other units as well.
  3. The 40 ELK is ONLY compatable with Hi-MD recorders ,and The Hard disk players Sony made, it will function with others , but a lot of the funtions will be unavailable .
  4. Replied to himself , Ummm do you have " MD Transfer 2.0 " installed???? You have to have that installed before the Mac will recocnize it as MD , other wise it will show up as a HDD but you wont be able to get music off of it , because it will be in an encrypted file structure. http://forums.minidisc.org/downloads/download.php?file=95 ( link to MD Transfer 2.0 ) download and install this then restart , you know the drill, I am on a Macbook Pro
  5. Audacity preview is a shorty that is just the way it is at the moment , for a free prog the keep it as lite as the can but still strong enough to do stuff on . Yeah I heard the Auto kik in , the intial part of the song (Just Guitar audience and Singer was right on , good dynamics and the idea is the getting of THOSE dynamics thru the whole song , to do that take the rec levels off of Auto , take them down to where the full band parts (especially "On Beat") where the peaks are so large , take it down to the point where they dont blow it out , then afterwards tweek in Audacity to get some levels up on the weak areas , but not so much that it is unatural. Auto levels are never good on todays gear , progear will have a Limiter built in as well as AGC , but the limiter will just Cap the rec levels instead of pumping them like a compressor does. (Which is what AGC emulates)
  6. That thing is a full recording studio , Full .wav import /export , via the drive ..... Have you tried mixing down to wav file dropping on a disc then to the Mac? Ahhh , but the Idea catching of the Live session that your doing , there is a way to record to the hard drive in it , but a few menu steps , so that kills the fun I guess
  7. use the buttons on the MD , but watch the display on the remote
  8. Like the message say , " If ( that is the biggest little word in the dictionary) you hear noise after transfer then select smoothing , if you dont hear noise that bothers you then there is no need .
  9. No , That isnt for scratched CD's , that would be Error Correction , That is built into iTunes and is a selection available for damged CD's Dither is to correct the Digital noise that is sometimes generated in the Analouge , to Digital Conversion, or Digital to Digital transfers of differing formats and bit rates. When Studios record , they record at the Highest posible samples rates , and then DownSample , to get to the CD realm. try this Take a Low bitrate file and UPSample it to the highest rate you can , then listen very carefully to the noise the gets developed. Sometimes oldr CD's or CD's from different Machines and processes when you copy them have to go thru a conversion process ( Say your player has a 24 bit process and the CD is from 1984 ad is on a "Scaled 16 bit" rather than a true redbook Audio format 16 bit , you will have a very thin wimpy sounding cd . Some people will say Audio is Audio ,.... very untrue , many ways to burn a CD so there are times when noise will get in the process, dither is to help get rid of that . That is the simplest way to say it . here is a good article on Dither http://www.earlevel.com/Digital%20Audio/Dither.html note that the article is from 1996 when 24 bit wasnt really here yet.

Those look cool are they a standard Y cable or left side short ? llike all the new earbuds seem to be?
  12. wow , ok no answer , mine doesnt do that , What software did you use to convert to MP3?
  13. For lectures it will be fine . I use the MZ -B10 for lectures and stuff
  14. First try this , Take the disc out , then take the battery out , leave it for a day , let the memory battery drain , then try it again , this will be a process of elimination, if that doesnt work then there might be a play head cable issue.

I could not believe this article, George Orwell is Alive and Well http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20298840/site/newsweek/
  16. well you do have a basic Equalisation in Audacity , it should be the 10th down in the List , you can also downloadc Nyquist plugins , or Go to Audacity site and get the VST enabler , then find a VST plugin
  17. with Audacity are you on a Mac or Windoze , The AU units in Mac Core Audio show up in Audacity , and it will give you a 31 band EQ first load the file into Audacity as a Wave file , (That means if you have to ecord real time into Audacity then that is what you do ) once the file is loaded , go up to Edit , in the drop down go to Select ,another drop , then select All the file will now be Highlighted , then go up to Effects at the top of the window , and a Drop down will show a Buttload of effects, Play around , and use your Undo feature in Edit , you will get used to things pretty quickly . Have fun
  18. Probably the MD's are in LP2 or LP4 format , but I have had issues with stuff recorded on Sony that would not play on Victor /RCA , I think it is a compatabilty issue.
  19. List the Model of the MD , how Old it is , and lastly do u still have the owners maual?
  20. it depends on the sample freqeuncy of the mp3 and if they are DRM . If they are subscription MP3 Rh1 might not agree with you . safest MP3 16 bit /44.1 khz sample rates = Happy RH1 next up 24 bit/44.1 khz = RH1 has to work hard 16 bit/48 khz sample =RH1 doesnt like you anymore 24 bit /48khz sample = RH1 leaving you and joining the Circus
  21. 16 will only take care of Subsonic rumbles ( stuff you dont hear anyway) 69 is the help eliminate AC hum ( which is actually doubled at 120 hz and that is what you really hear) 95 depending on its slope would probably be the best bet 195 will thin out a really bassy sound systen where they are using sub sonic generators like BBE proccessors to get the extra "Thump " 888 is for a Mid bass cut , ( getting close to 1khz puts you in the Midrange area of the sound spectrum )

    SS 4.3 in Vista

only a portion of the Ram is being used at any given time , It gets shared with "Virtual Memory " which uses Hard disk space as memory. so the empty space or unused part of the memory ,as long as was not being accessed didnt show . When you installed SS it tried to access THAT particular portion of memory for its operation because it doesnt want to use the Virtual mem on the Hard Drive. glad you got it running
  23. Tekdroid , first off I will say that I appreciate that you come to this "With all due respect " The point I am making , is that these are the MD forums , not the iPod forums , ( unless you are copying the music from your iPod , a freinds iPod , your sisters iPod) onto your MD . The arguments and debates that are taking shape lately have NOTHING to do with MD , and therefore do not belong here . The whole concept and Title of these boards , and the reason I joined them was because they are supposed to be revolving around MD . Not the bashing of ... The use of , and ideas of others in there use of . The Captures of , and stories of , the fixing of , the trading of , and even including the wishful thinking of .......MD "Welcome to the MD Community Forums" I believe that is what is said at the top left of the Page when you come to this site , and on every page you read . Instead it is now a free for all about everything but MD
