after noting what your losing , instead of installing SS wait , and download and run a memory checker you might have a bad memory module. It will store certain files in RAM during installs and ini.exe that is an initiation file ....... yu may have a bad mem , that is what I am thinking at this point .

Actually in the terms of agreement TDK has an OPT OUT available , and it ISNT a buyout , just the use of the Name , so sitting back and looking at it from a different view , TDK hasnt been doing all that well in recent years , while Imation has basically exploded . TDK is an Old name with a long history in Recording media and other ascpects , 260 million isnt that much money and the plan is for 25 years , with a 1 year wind down . It sounds more like an Investment / Redirect than it is a Buyout . That means fresh input for TDK and a leg up in Broadening markets, Imation gets the USE of TDK's stable manufacturing processes without having to own it , and TDK gets the USE of Imations Market foundation without having advertise itself or push beyond it's boundaries .............. I would have liked to have been a fly on the wall when this deal was being discussed.

If you notice the paragraph , under the checkbox , it mentions "if there is noise in the recording after import " that would imply what is called "Dithering" which is like Antialiasing in video , It turns on "Dither" to compensate for "Digital Noise" or low level artifacts in the conversion process.

seems like no one wants to believe me when I tell about the bugs in Vista, sorry to hear it happened to you Bob . My back is getting a little better , so I can get to those repairs and make some money . If you can get XP on to that machine , or better yet , Win2000 pro , it will be a screaming machine , but Vista , .......... It is causing SOOOOO many probs , and on the Tech sites I go to and the people I know are all saying the same thing , "Leave Vista Alone " it is not ready yet . Give it 6 more months and hope that all the hackers dont have it completely taken apart by then.

In the search window up top , where you search the ENTIRE forum base , type in "iPod" or DAP and see what happens. It would have to be the girlfriend -

I have a Mac , I have had PC 's I luv Cassette ( still mad at myself for selling my WM-D6C Pro ) All I am saying is the MD forums should be about MD , and helping people get info ABOUT md , how WE use MD , Mics and accessories for the MD , etc , Make a specific sub forum just for Bashing iPoods , MP3 or DAP's or for the praise of them, but the general board space , should be MD I am eyeballing the Creative Zen Stone plus...... oops ! -
See ... , Now THIS is what the MD forums are supposed to be about.

Strungup replied to minidisciskewl's topic in The Loft
Well according to that statement then this wont be the MD forums much longer , my point is that this is SUPPOSED to be about MD .... And everything done with , tips triks etc , now it is just a big argument about iPOOODS ,DAP's , MP3's , and anything BUT MD -

Strungup replied to minidisciskewl's topic in The Loft
As for the iPOOD discussion, Right now I am listenig to Bruce Hornsby , Harbour Lights , that I did an Optical Copy some years ago , and I am playing it on a Sony MZ-R5ST ( the Station dock model , just before the R50) analouge line out from the docking station , to a set of Edirol MA-10D Digital monitors. I have had my guitar students iPod connected the same way , and the difference is night and day , This is an OLDER MD deck with no LP mode but it does have 20 bit A/D D/A conversion , and there is no way an iPod will ever come close to this sound . this is the MD communty forums , and recently it has turned into every discussion but what we do with our MD's there is more talk of DAP's and MP3 players , than about MD , and its getting to be a little disouraging -
Try it without the remote , see what happens , if it works without the remote , the processor might be going , I have a Sony 505 player that, will play with out the remote, but if i put any remote on it ,it will play a song and stop halfway thru and just shut down , also does it with headphones of a different value , if I use headphones higher than 24 ohms value , it will shut off, if I use 16 ohm ear buds it will play all day . I think it is a similar phenom to the 1rst gen Macbook RSS ( Random Shutdown Syndrome) where ther was to little space between the processor and another part of the circuit , the processor would get hot and swell by a micrometer , and touch the other circuit , BAM the whole system went down.

notice your comment "Some Virus's" that doesnt cut it , there are 140,000 active viruses , 300,000 floaters out there , plus loads of spyware , adware , malware . Norton isnt as bad as Macaffee , but it isnt all that good , They do not actively seek out viruses in order to take them apart find the flaw or break in them , they wait for a virus to be found out about , then issue a rewired patch for an older virus hoping it will work . Macaffee invades your entire system , and bogs it down , and doesnt catch the viruses, they get thru . It is partly what is incorporated into the Vista security system , whereas unless you disable it , you have to go thru a buttload of klik and close to do anything. action - Allow or Deny that gets old . XP running AVG , and Spybot Search and Destroy , plus a properly setup firewall , and cloaked ports and a non static IP , your invisible updates from AVG are daily not weekly or monthly , and they run in the background without locking you out of your system . Plus in doesnt invade your system. it Gaurds it. If a virus is found , a wall is built around it inside the file it is hiding , AVG notifies you and quarantines that File , and NOT the whole program that the file is in , so you can delete just the file and replace that file from the original program , your up and running . AVG doesnt let a bug crash your system , puts it in a cage so you can choose what to do with it .

XP is the best bet , Vista is really a Bad idea for anyone , who doesnt have some very serious machinery to run it , and yes its ull of problems . If you do go XP , do NOT use Norton Antivirus ,or Macaffee , instead download AVG for grisoft.com and you wont have any problems AVG is good stuff. I am able to trouble shoot most Windows systems , Win 2000 service pack 4 was the most stable , but XP is far more user freindly , Just DO NOT use Norton or Macaffee. A lot of people are having problems with Vista , Vista just isnt ready , most tech people I know agree .

Yeah , Agreed , if the information can be combined , and the pictures and Items from other posts put together , then put as a head topic , newbies could easily find it and not have to ask

Targus , has a AAA Pack that comes with an iPod kit , I bought the pack seperately , and it works very good . Sitting at the bottom right of the picture. http://www.targus.com/us/product_details.asp?sku=ABE0202US I have several other USB packs that use 2 AA's that I found at Cell phone accessorie places. Look where there are Cell phone power accessories and Willcom accessories will work, AU , FOMA , some of thos work as well.

Down at the bottom of your desktop , on the right side of the Tool bar you should have a Device removal Icon , or you need to open "My Computer" then the MD is listed , right klik it and select Remove . After that you can disconnect it .

Hey Sparky ,...... Now you gotta ask him to pull your finger ..!!!

I noticed , that most of the items have a 2 year Repair/Replace warranty , that is cool because Lithiums , can have anomolies in the manufacturing , as well as unexpected life shortage. They also had a AAA battery to USB pack I saw , pocket sized power , probably pretty cheap ,5.3 volts out .

Also here is a Cool item , I dont know if it is still available , but for Data transfer , it appears that Sony actually thought of HIMD as a Data medium http://www.ecat.sony.co.jp/products/catalog/DS-HMD1.pdf
