WaywardTraveller
What specific language support are you seeking?←Offhand, I'd want all the foreign characters possible (short of Japanese/Chinese, which I don't require). Checking the manual it looks like quite a few are included (for Hi-MD mode anyways), but I'm not sure. Not very specific I know, but as a backpacker travelling over several continents I'd ideally like to be able to title recordings with village/souq/market names, song names, etc. in (romanized) original names. The Low Volta
hi siup, welcome to MDCF,Is ther poosible to program one of these code to have the function :"record set" in the position "record manual" by defaultbut to disappoint you: nope, this is not possible... we are all trying to get Sony to incorporate this in future models, but for all existing HiMD models you will have to go into the menus to get manual rec levels each time after a stop
perplexer
Hi @all !many thanks to all of your tests! I bought a Euro RH10 and I was really pi**ed off to what has happend to the functions and the legitimations of the Euro-version.Now, I am happy Again a BIG thanx to Ishiyoshi and kurisu helping those who has no service manual available btw: does any body know more about the built in limiter? What is behind the "ForLoudMusic" parameter? I use OKM Rock headphones and the A3 adapter for recordings. The A3 adapter supports a -20db option to reduce the volume down to -20db. Now, I'd like to know more about the above function. Do I never have to use the A3 again, because of the fact that the ForLuoudMusic option offers this "out of the box"?ps: the 113 parameter was running up and down in my version. Only the last 3 HEX values where fixed to SA0. Now I have a nice A24 value, hehe he btw: are there any other options that maybe allows to copy directly a file from the removeable media to another windows drive?Best wishes from GermanyPerplexer Edited September 5, 2005 by perplexer

Roamer
The 'For Loud Music' is for recording with a mic (it is described in the manual). So it doesn't matter for playback. And SonicStage / SimpleBurner is the only way to transfer music.

yanouche
the only thing i wish to be somehow hacked/unlocked in my RH910, though i know it's impossible, is two step mega-bass function the old net-md units had... bass in my N505 used to be punchy and dynamic compering to what hi-md's equalizer can do... Srazash
Hey, i'm new! Anyway i used this hack on my European (UK) RH10 model, i know what you all mean about the hex number, i wasn't sure what to do, anyway i just used VOL- button and navigated through the hex numbers (im refering to the last two digits here!) until i got to "24" like it says on the guide, THIS WORKED! i have better volume and custome equiliser settings! Thanks for the hack! And i hope this helps anyone who hit a snag!

timbeullens
Hi I bought the RH10 here in Belgium (so sorry for my english :-p) I changed the settings from european to US mode. I first took the asian settings (24) but without tite editing possible... no satisfaction But the US settings would have the missing letters.... but i was thinking that the guys from sony already fixed that problem. Tryed it and no problem! I have ALL features, full output, 2custom equalizers and all characters available!!! Thanks guy's! Are there possible more functions and features that could be unlocked this way? Greetz!Tim

Ghinn
Hi. I've got a Japanese RH10, because I wanted the LCD remote. Do I need to do any of these hacks, or do I have full functionality out of the box? I've been using it for a few months, and I have both custom EQ settings available, and haven't noticed any of the limitations people are talking about. The default language was English. Is there any way to check for sure that I don't need to do anything? Also, are there any hacks that can be done purely for cosmetic reasons? I just tried titling tracks, and I was unable to do so. Is there a setting I can change that will enable me to title tracks, preferrably with full foreign language support?

The titling should function normally, unless of course you were trying to amend titles from tracks recorded with Sonic Stage in which case you may run into the CANNOT EDIT message. Ghinn
Why is it that tracks recorded with sonicstage can't be retitled?
Richard
Why is it that tracks recorded with sonicstage can't be retitled? [Off topic]DRM basically. I did do some testing and I seem to recall that with SS 3.4 for this may no longer be the case (as long as you don't encode the tracks with copy protection). Otherwise the simplest thing to do is connect the unit to the PC and edit in the Sonic Stage transfer window.
clorenzo
This place is amazing! Thanks a million to the gurus, I just did the mod on my brand new RH10 and it worked a treat. The change in max power is quite noticeable, especially with high impedance 'phones (Beyer DT-880) which before sounded just faint and now are almost reasonable (with the vol. on max of course). yoda_143
I just wanted to confirm that this hack worked without any problems on my rh710. Changed the value from A0 to 24 it was about 30 seconds work. I don't really use the extra volume, but the custom equalizer settings are great for clearing up low quality audiobook recordings. brrrgh
We did it for the MZ-R900/700/500, again for first generation Hi-MD, and now..With frightening restrictions facing Europeans such as reduced output [2.8mW], and no real custom equalizer on the MZ-RH10 and presumeably other second generation Hi-MD units, can we save the masses once again?---------Here's how you remove this limitation - by entering service mode you take full responsibility for your actions and cannot hold minidisc.org or it's associates liable for any damages occured - don't worry though, you'll be fine:With the 'Hold' switch on, and while pressing 'Menu', press FF FF RW RW FF RW FF RW Pause Pause.[FF = Fast Forward | RW = Rewind]1.) Press the 'Vol +' key to enter the Manual mode.2.) Press the 'FF' key five times to select the item number 0113.3.) Press the 'Vol +'/'Vol -'key and set the value that is after "DistFL", or if you don't see that, when you press 'Vol +'/'Vol -' a value will increase/decrease - change it to 24.4.) Press the 'Pause' key on the unit to set the change.5.) Press the 'Stop' key four times and then remove the battery or whatever is powering the unit. Turn it back on and enjoy! For those of you in Europe, you now have a full equalizer, no restriction on volume, and Kanji/etc support. North American unit owners can do the same for better language support.A big thank you to Ishiiyoshi for supplying the service manual for this unit!p.s. fatmuttony
Finally got around to hacking my RH710 after procrastinating on this for many months. RoGeR
Hi, I just bought the RH10. I tried the hack, successfully went into Service Mode... proceeded to Manual, to 0113, then the hex numbers at the bottom of 0113 started to move when I press volume. Do I just adjust the last 3 digits to 024 and ignore the digits in front of the last 3 digits which keep moving - I'm afraid of pressing set in case of buggering it up!!!! Its a european model, bought in UK. Pls help. I've tried twice but still couldnt find DistFL as mentioned. I've removed the battery without pressing set and it thankfully still works!!
