mhousel
When I press the button to raise the volume on my RH10 unit, it often activates the search, as though I pressed the search button, but it's not just fat-fingering. Has anybody else had this problem?
raintheory
I have this problem from time to time with my RH10.I think a few people have mentioned it here, I think I remember someone posting that they had even sent their unit in to get it fixed. It can be pretty frustrating... I was going to send my RH10 in for a firmware upgrade to fix the missing letters when titling, I think I'll mention this issue as well to see if they can fix it at the same time. Has anybody else had this problem?I had that problem the day I unpacked the MD player. I checked the usegroups and apparently others have had the same problem too. I ended up just sending it back and getting a new one. It's been fantastic since. It appears that there's a design flaw in the unit.
pauljones52
Yup I have this problem too. I had the same problem with my N910 aswell, which I sent to sony to be repaired. This took a couple of months as the first time they replaced the remote control instead! I dont want to send my RH10 away for this length of time, so if anyone has a DIY solution please share. Sytronik
I have the exact same problem. It is very annoying. I wonder if Sony will fix this problem when I send mine in for the firmware update.
surripere
Yes me too, it seems to do it more when I press the volume button and release it quickly. It is annoying but because it still activates the volume with the search menu up I haven't bothered doing anything about it and I don't fancy sending it off and not having it available for a few weeks. A DIY solution would be nice!
tekdroid
OK, so far I've read about button problems on the MZ-RH900, and MZ-RH10. Just keeping score Edited January 17, 2006 by tekdroid
eriktous
OK, so far I've read about button problems on the MZ-RH900 [...]You mean MZ-NH900.
tekdroid
You mean MZ-NH900.That's the one. Weird thing is I was looking at the post thinking..."hmm, no, something's not right...oh well.." Getting a firmware update tomorrow
e1ghtyf1ve
This happened to me months ago. Exchanged the RH10. Problem solved.Cheers
Sony_Fan
Wow, I've had the same problem but I noticed that it only happens a few moments after I insert a disc. After a minute or so the volume control works fine. My guess is that when you insert a disc and push play, the unit is storing music into it's memory and by pressing the volume controls during this process, button signals are getting mixed up. It's not enough for me to send it in, unless it really starts to screw up.That's the one. Weird thing is I was looking at the post thinking..."hmm, no, something's not right...oh well.." Getting a firmware update tomorrow What do you mean firmware update? What is being updated and is it necessary? I've got the RH10.
raintheory
What do you mean firmware update? What is being updated and is it necessary? I've got the RH10.There's a firmware upgrade for the RH10 models that are missing letters in the titling screen. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=11498Not really a necessary firmware upgrade, I've gone without it so far. You can still use the missing letters, you just can't see them on the screen. Edited January 18, 2006 by raintheory
tekdroid
What do you mean firmware update? What is being updated and is it necessary? I've got the RH10.It was a joke alluding to my faulty typing, but come to think of it, this model did have a firmware issue and I could have caused some confusion there I was actually referring to my brain getting a firmware upgrade, though. Sorry for the confusion.
MZ-1
I have this volume/search problem too. It seems to affect a certain range of volume control settings.Do MZ-RH10 have to be sent in for firmware updates? Do the HiMD players, theoretically, have a method of updating the firmware by copying files onto the MD?Paul
