ILoveMinidisc
Have anyone though about that is the 15Th aniversary of minidisc in 2007?Sony celebreated the 10th Aniversary in 2002 and many Nice Minidisc minidisc was releasedfor this reason. Now, considering Minidisc dont have many years left to liveIt would not be logical for Sony not to use 2007 as the perfect timeto do one of the last effort in making some very nice Minidisc units.Atleast as A Memorial for the minidisc, i know the format deserve it.This means that Sony can and should celebrate a 15Th aniversary.because this chance may not return, and is unlikely there be a 20th aniversary. On the 15th Aniversary some Special Hi-md Walkmans and the big requested Hi-md deckshould be released for All us who has suported Minidisc during 15 years.I am sure that if sony is going to release more minidiscit will all be focused on the 15th aniversaryand would be a perfect time for us to buy minidiscs. If Sony decide to ignore a 15th aniversarywe as consumer should still celebrate it and make 2007 the Year of the minidisc.Remember this may be the last celebration for minidiscso 15Th aniversary is important. We should buy Minidisc in 2007 and suport Sony in the minidisc adventure.atleast to give Minidisc the memorial it deserve. We all have Request for future Hi-md units, probaly the most requestedis a Hi-md Deck no doubt about that.but improved Hi-md walkmans that depend even lesser on sonicstage programs(just drag and drop) would be very nice.So my request for sony for the 15th aniversary is:1. Make the MD software drag & dropno more software limitiation, you just conect minidiscand drag the music directly into the unit.2. My request for Sony is to make a Hi-md walkmanwith Sensor buttons (heat-sensor?)it will be safe in the pocket by applying a Hold-button.A shiny surface can be taken care of if we are good caretakers of MDProbaly not everyone want heat-sensor buttonsBUT there can be atleast one Limited edition model made for the 15th aniversaryfor those that want, Is important it be sold not only in Japanbut also in Europe and USA , making the design very prettywill increase the sale. You can see an example of pretty heat-sensor button design here:3. As many other request a Hi-md deck would be perfectthis one must also be sold in Usa and Europei am sure Sony can afford to make one.Now ofcourse this is not a request-thread is a chat about15th aniversary but is good idea to point out what would be good for minidisc.Long life to MinidiscHappy soon 15th aniversary Edited November 11, 2006 by ILoveMinidisc

Tiesto
Gapless has been available since at least SonicStage v3.4Gapless has been available since 1992!... and for the anniversary, Sony should release: a portable recorder (RH1+), a portable player (EH1+), a HiMD deck (something like the MD-105FX) and as a bonus surprice a HiMD car unit (MDXF5800+)

poe
I know everybody is more worried about Bond yelling (typing in big letters).I thought gapless recording and playback were only availble through your computer. Did this change with SS 4.0 and up?What Bond was yelling for was for gapless playback on portable units.Anybody?POE
Avrin
Gapless recording and playback of ATRAC files is available from the very beginning of the MD format. The only prerequisite is that you have a gapless source (like a CD). Separate MP3 and other format files converted into ATRAC will not be gapless, unless you remove gaps using an application like Adobe Audition BEFORE encoding them to ATRAC. poe
No 1 I asked "Anybody?". Now after my comeback remark, I should never post after being up all night. Dah!! I was thinking lossless playback. Yeah, right minidisc has had gapless playback since its begining. That's one of the main reasons I've keep with minidisc in the first place.Ok here's my vote for lossless playback on the portable units.Later, POE. Sparky191
I had a feeling you meant lossless. Would be nice, but I reckon I'm happy with HiSP myself. At least till I can afford bigger HD's.
poe
I guess I should elaborate a little further, I would hope that they would then add the option to rip in Atrac Lossless only option, as opposed to Lossless and Lossy Codec of your choice. This would save space and allow high qualilty playback. If only. Later, POE.

raintheory
Personally I would like to see 30 seconds of "time-machine recording" in a portable. That would be a dream come true (and not terribly difficult actually). For those not familiar, time-machine recording is a feature that (while in rec-pause) keeps however many seconds of sound in a memory buffer, and is constantly filling this. So when you un-pause and start recording, the recording actually starts with the 30 seconds (or however long the time-machine recording buffer is) of audio from before you started.I have had two pro decks with this feature and it would be a phenomenal thing to have in a portable. Sparky191
What use is that feature?
raintheory
I think its useful for when you have the unit in rec-pause and are waiting for something to start, that way you dont miss the beginning of it. I would think it would be particularly useful for folks that reord off the radio or even for live recording of concerts and such.Or in my case I would have 30 seconds to realize that I forgot to take the unit out of rec-pause.
