silverclaws
Greetings to you all,And so now I have my trusty MZ-R700, which I have been using for the past seven months with much pleasure, my situation has changed somewhat and now have a computer which may be used with a minidisc. Used in that perhaps I would like to move up a step and investigate the 'Net' MD. I still require a machine which can be used without a computer being present, that simplicity I refuse to lose, but would like for others if they may to suggest a likely MD unit which would fit my requirements.I like my MZ-R700, for it's features, but would also like the MZ-R900 for it's ability to receive song title info along with the music from my Sony D-EJ955 cd player, so was thinking to upgrade to the 900.But seeing as I now have a computer, is there an MD unit which is like the R900 which will also have NET capabilities ?I buy on Ebay, so there are the limitations of my search.*EDIT*, LCD remote is prefferable, although I know LCD remote works with MZ-R700, it might work with others so not supplied. raintheory
Do you need Mic and/or line-in?
silverclaws
Do you need Mic and/or line-in? My MZ-R700 has both, line in, and Mic, is there anything NET that is similar ?Line in I use more so than mic, but I do use mic for recording college lectures. And the latest requirement to wonder about, are the md units that have a built in radio tuner, did these variants occur with NET MD's.Basically it seems I seek the perfect machine, I understand, but one has to try. KJ_Palmer
The MZ-NF810 should fit your bill for a Net-MD recorder. I haven't owned one, but it seems they're quite well-regarded. However, why not consider the MZ-NHF800, which has all the Net-MD functions, plus the advantages of Hi-MD as well. Mine's given great service for several years, and I wouldn't go back to Net-MD at this stage. Edited June 20, 2008 by Barock
sfbp
One problem with NetMD is the 1700 character limit. It seems quite frequent that when downloading to LP2 (or, heaven forbid, LP4) that it is quite easy to get too much ("disk full") in the titling info. This is indeed solved in HiMD.Just a thought. Syrius
Agreed. If you're going to make the purchase, just go ahead and get a HI-MD as it has all the functions of Net MD and more.
A440
MZ-NH700 is the same as the MZ-NHF800 except that the NHF-800 has an FM radio in the remote. It has both Line-in and Mic-In. Depending on your budget, you may want to splurge on the last and best Hi-MD unit, the MZ-RH1. It is the only unit that will upload the recordings you have already made on your MZ-R700. The other Hi-MD units will upload only their own recordings, not the MD recordings. Even with the USB connection, NetMD units will not upload any recordings. Their USB connection works from computer TO MD, not in the other direction.
