Strungup
Well the discussion is probably mute at this point , I went to Akihabara today , and spent the entire day looking for a MZ-EH70 for someone on the boards . Md is officially dead , I have never seen so many iPods , entire walls of the inside of most store nothing but iPods , and displays of Sony Network Walkman DAP's At Yodobashi Akiba , there is this list , an RH1 , EH-50's in three colors , two MZ-n920's that is it . Iwent to almost every store in the entire Akihabara region ,all floors. Even went to a Sony distribution place , they had ,.......Eh-50 , and RH1 and I asked about ordering the EH-70 .direct from SOny ,. Negative . this is straight from Sony . from 10 am to 6PM store to store searching , backstreets , hidden secret places , every spot I know . I did find one New NH3D though , and I have a pic of it . three people are waiting for it . Edited October 21, 2008 by Guitarfxr
Nate A
I still have my MD's but I've been using an 8 gb Sony dap for outside the house. it's sooo much smaller and no mechanicals means less chance to get screwed up inside.it sounds pretty good but like the MD players I was using, I still need an amp to get any volume from external speakers like a pair of satellites and sub even though they have an internal amp.I think I'll be transferring my MD's to my comp and selling off my players, discs and all the remotes and cords eventually. I´ve been trying to set up something similar but the one attempt I made at this never worked. So, do you just use a normal amp or what? And how is it set up? Nate A
I use one of those little hand made amps in an altoid box powewrd by a 9 volt. it's just connected with stereo mini jacks. signal out from the headphone jack to the input of the amp, then out to the speakers. works pritty well. iPods don't seem to need the boost.I have a cheap set of Altech Lansing speakers I think were originally marketed for the PS2. tekdroid
I still have my MD's but I've been using an 8 gb Sony dap for outside the house. it's sooo much smaller and no mechanicals means less chance to get screwed up inside. The downside here being that embedded non-removable Flash memory still fails (more you write to it, weaker it gets) and non-removable batteries also die after a few hundred charge/ discharge cycles. For most people who don't want to keep the unit too long, it's fine, but I still see designs like this as designed for disposal. Sure, mechanical things fail (human body included), but so do chemical things, so does flash media...
gidion27
Hi there, Interesting post since I just get my rid of my Ipod (Icamel) in favor for my old MD R910.I had some old recording in sp laying around and to be honest, the old md tracks sounded way better than the files on my Ipod. I am probably the only one but swapping a disc now and than and actually thinking about what to take with me is part of the fun as well.Any way. I am glad to see that there are other Md nuts out there. P
brian10161
I've recently come back to my old MD player from using my iPod. The sound quality is definitely a lot better than the iPods. I ordered an N510 online and it arrived just the other day, also ordered 30 MDs from MinidiscCanada which arrived the same day. Been playing with it all day today, such a great little player and format.I use my MZ-NF520D in my work truck through a line-in in my stereo and its just great. LP2 is all I need in quality.Good to see the format is still alive
Juan22
Im glad to see people realizing how fantastic the minidisc is! and what a nightmare an mp3 player is for soundquality!
aafuss
I even sometimes use my MD recorders to record audio from a iPod touch (strange but I enjoy doing this)
