..like you canot DELETE a song on the Device (in my case a A608) if you choose it from the PLAYLIST (on the device explorer window), but you can DELETE it if you know the Album and choose it from the "Albums by Artist" (again on the device explorer window)

Also, the "device explorer window" lacks the option to see the tracks by "All tracks" view...

hmm... as for speed wise, I say it's fast and also I haven't seen deleting problems. But only lack of language support while CP had perfect ones...

I have to agree on this - my first tests have revealed that it takes twice as long to import a CD as version 3.4 did - this is on a PC that has had no changes made other than installing version 4.0.

This is not all I have noticed. Version 4.0 does not appear to support CD text information (ie CDs that include track titles and artists). Has anyone else noticed this?

No I didn`t face that problem .

I only tried "The Best Of Ricky Martin " & SonicStage CP was able to detect it properly .

SonicStage CP 4.0 loads faster at my end; time to "Import a CD" is about the same as SonicStage 3.4 and CD text works just fine.

That's great. I initialized my A3000 to reload it using SonicStage, and two times it hanged after a while. The first time it hanged for hours, since I had left the computer unattended. Not a good signal. SS 3.4 didn't have any problem handling large amounts of music. Now I'm trying to rebuild the database and see if that helps.

For me, it all started good, until I tried to copy M3U playlists to the NW-A3000, it refused to accept them. In the end, I formatted the device (this is now the 5th reformat of the NW-A since Decemeber). The M3U playlists then imported without any issues,

Seems if you have been running Connect in the past, there may be issues moving to SonicStageCP...

Still we have to move forward.

Hi...

I'm using Logitech LX500 Wireless Keyboard+Mice

My keyboard has play/stop FFW RW buttons on it....I did SonicStage my default player but it is not compatible with my keyboard's media control buttons. Only play button works well and others not.

I don't know is this a bug or are these buttons designed only for Windows mediaplayer?

Welcome to ATRACLife!

This is not a bug. To access SonicStage's playback functions via "remote" - you will need a SonicStage Remote Add-on [Plug-in] installed in a VAIO system along with its corressponding VAIO remote.

I get errors like this when I try to convert some MP3s to Atrac. error5wb.jpg

But it only happens for some MP3s, others convert fine, and I can transfer the MP3s without converting them too.

Welcome to AtracLife !

Which version of SonicStage are you using ?

If using SonicStage ver3.4 or below then try SonicStage CP 4

I upgraded to SSCP4.0 yesterday on both my desktop and laptop. Previously I was running with both Sonicstage for my NW-E75 and ConnectPlayer for my NW-A3000.

After upgarding SSCP4.0 recognises my NW-A3000 as an ATRAC device and, try as I might, I cant transfer songs to the device on either the desktop or the laptop.

Progress indeed.

Well another buggy release. "Omgjbox is encountering a problem" and SS closes.

Plus Why oh Why is SS the only app that hogs my screen. I have my task bar at the top of the screen and it will not drop down if SS is maximised

They do need to improve importing songs. All my compilations could split up and I had to go through every one and mark as compilations, but then the tracks were out of order. Then when I used CDDB it couldn't match all the songs in my CDs to the database, so my whole database is a bit of a mess really.

Also, for one of my songs it said that the filetype was not supported, but the rest of the album imported fine  .

And I can't use Connect (Download service), I've had problems using that before, it may be something to do with having IE7 installed.

Well, went back to 3.4 but still am required to delete all tracks on my HD-5, or reinitiallize.

It is error code 000066a3.

Thanks Sony!

I'm glad, in some ways, I upgraded from my Archos Jukebox Recorder to the HD-5, since I got it for only $250, but to be quite honest, I wish I had one of the newer IPods instead for the navigation ease that is the clickwheel vs. scrolling through hundreds of artists/albums (why the jump-by-initial thing is only for songs, not artists, is beyond me) the lack of on-the-go playlisting.

So, now with this need to redo everything from scratch, I'm not all that happy. Guess I might as well reinstall SonicCrap 4.0.... or maybe just go to GYM.

After installing SS 4 a great number of tracks on my HD5 will not play anymore when the player is not connected to the computer. When I look at the files using the player LCD the compression method (you know MP3 160, Atrac3plus or whatever is used for the file) is missing.

Funny thing is that when I connect the player to my computer I can play the file through SonicStage. I should add that I don't have a copy of my music on my computer, it is only on my player.

I guess I have to delete all the bad files and reimport them ?!?! or does anyone have any idea how to sort this out?

Cheers

This was my first unfortunate experience with SS CP 4. Previously I have been using Connect Player with a NW-A3000 with very few major issues.

The following are the problems so far with SSCP 4.

1) Despite deselecting everything to do with updating tracks, it insists on randomly changing the Album Artist field on WMA tracks. Sometimes to un-viewable character sets.

2) The first time I imported all the tracks into SSCP4, the connected a freshly formatted NW-A3000, only half the tracks ended up being transferred. Re-formatted, and all transferred across.

3) After the first successful transfer, when re-attaching the NW-A3000, the same 10 or 20 songs are transferred time and time again, ending up in lots of duplicates. Re-building the SSCP4 library and re-formatting the device makes no difference.

CP may have had problems, but at least the latest version of it did not mess up the tags, and transferred music correctly and accurately.

Despite looking every where, I cannot find out how to fully uninstall all the SSCP features that are installed the first time. I also cannot find an easy way to delete and re-create the library on SSCP4, like you can with CP.

Until SSCP is fixed, it more of a problem than CP, can't Sony get things right and at least involve the community with some Beta testing so that a vaguely useable product is released.

I had to delete all the tracks from my Vaio Pocket and HD5H before SS4.0 CP would allow any transfers. Not a (huge) problem as all the tracks are in My Library, but a pain all the same.

Took a couple of overnight runs to restore all the tracks including bitrate conversions (30GB+)...

Had a couple of crashes, both when dragging files from my library to my portable device. dump below:

ss4cpcrash1fn.th.jpg

Also had a few reports that tracks could not be transferred, but retrying the same tracks, they transfered OK.

PLEASE Sony, consider having a public beta test for future updates, it's the only way to move forward.

Is it just me, or when you import m4a files (AAC format), the song title information, artist, etc. doesn't show up, despite the fact that it's already there? The title of the song ends up being the file name, meaning that I have to rename the song title.

I put a message in the 'Ideas and requests' thread below, mentioning the view of the tracks on my NW-A608 that appears on the PC window. (For those who have not seen this message, it was a moan that the artists are no longer listed alphabetically in SS 4.0).

I now notice that, since connecting the NW-A608 to SS 4.0, the albums on the player no longer appear in the display of the player itself in alphabetical order, nor does there seem to be any logic to the order in which they appear - for example, they do not appear in the order they were imported into the player.

The player has previously been used with a PC that had SS 3.4 installed on it - I have never used the old Connect Player software.

Has anyone else seen this, or does anyone know a way round it?

Thanks in advance.

Hei All!!

I have to report that nearly all my omg or oma files could not be played on the SS 4.0.

It says that some licence information could not be found...

The very newest file can be played. But the most files not.

This is a reason to ripp all cds in mp3!!!

All the mp3s are working fine. Except the gapless thing.

Such a sh....

tom

Edit: Can someone tell me how to downgrade to ss 3.4???

Thanks

Edit2: You can see the error from SS4.0. I imported a CD which had album name and all the other names and now you can see in the background!!! Nothing no tags anymore...

Problems with my HD-5-- SonicStage 4 insists I delete all tracks or reinitialize the harddrive.

I'm going to remove SonicStage 4 and see if I can get back to 3.4.

Damn, I'd hoped SS4 would 'fix' that. Tried to upgrade from 3.3 to 3.4 not so long ago & got that error, so ended up going back to 3.3. Guess I'm staying put for a while longer/as long as the player lasts.

New annoying problem in 4.0, never had it before:

when deleting an album from the library, SS presents a window asking you to confirm you want to delete the underlying files from the computer.

In previous versions, if you ticked the box to confirm that is what you want to do, SS would remember your choice the next time you went to delete another album.

Now, you have to tick the box each and everytime.

whether this was by design or not I don't know, but I really don't like the change!

Ticking the box means you delete the music files in the album from your computer. You sure you want to do that every time you delete an album from SS??.

Yes, i really want to delete the files themselves. Because Sony doesn't build podcast support into SonicStage, I have to download those files with Juice, import them to sonicstage, transfer to the HD5, then delete from the library. to do this every day, the fact that this little box no longer stays ticked becomes disproportionately annoying! Of course, they could have built podcast support into 4.0. but they didn't. oh well. does anyone else find that this box doesnt remember its status?

In prevous versions, it apparently WAS meant to since it did. So someone changed this moving from 3.4 to 4.0. My only point is I much preferred it the old way. Or perhaps they could give you the option to have it remember. It is really too bad that they keep everything so locked down in the UI etc. No plugins or anything. To me, building in podcast subscriptions should have been relative simple and wouldn've been a lot more useful than the whole artist link thing. It's frustrating that they are so close to producing something really great but they stop just short and seem satisfied with something that is merely adequate.
