I dunno if you have tweaked the forum or anything Chris, but loading time it takes me to reply to threads using "Fast Reply" has gone from 1 minute to about 5 seconds!

So good!

Edit: I think I must have jinxed myself... because to post the 1st reply took about 50 seconds sad.gif

The strange thing is, if you go Send again, after you have already said send, it will load in about 5 seconds, and you will have submitted 2 threads...

So it is a little strange it takes 60 secs to post a thread, but if you click send a couple fo seconds after initially pressing it, the page will refresh, and you will have 2 posts :|

Hope that is all clear to understand! unsure.gif

sounds like the same thing I'm experiencing...I'm actually quite certain that it's the reloading of the thread that takes quite long and not the posting itself... just try this:

-add a reply (not fastreply)

-click add reply (on my system/connection it takes about 20 secs to get the thread back with my reply added)

-scroll up and press "view new posts" about five secs into the "thinking about it"-process (I mean: if it seems delayed, just press view new posts)

-your brand new post should be on top, but with the indicator that you haven't read it yet

(this is actually almost the same principle as your test, but without the doubleposting tongue.gif )

strange stuff...

Mmmm. See the strange thing is, if I go Add Reply, instead of Fast Reply, Add Reply loads in about 10 seconds mellow.gif

But Fast Reply takes forever.

Maybe we'll have to start going Add Reply from now on

Oh my gosh!

It just happened again!

I replied to another forum through Add Reply, and it loaded the reply in 10 seconds..

Then I come to do this reply! And it took 2 mins to load!

The status bar wasn't moving after a LONG time, so I clicked Add Reply again, and then it went off... and I didn't post 2 topics... so it must not have even loaded my reply mellow.gif

Here is a screen shot (Wasn't there an option when you replied to load a picture from your computer?) Like a BROWSE Button?

I don't have that anymore... strange.. I have the Browse button on other threads, but not this 1...

Well here is the screen shot Screen Shot

First, let me introduce myself as the alien lifeform Kurisu consults with when the forums are being particularly ornery. hi.gif Most of the credit is his, I just get dragged in when he's drawing blanks on stuff. (nothing personal, but don't send me any support PMs - I'm the wrong person to ask and they'll get ignored)

When we were forced to load the database backup last week, the entire DB was rebuilt from scratch, as well as the DB indexes. This is probably the cause of the speedup that you've been noticing. ...Just nod your head, smile, and pretend that both you and I know what I'm talking about. biggrin.gif

glad you have become a moderator Atrain but I hope that doesn't mean you will tone down your style. Off the top of my head, my three favorites are...

(to someone who thought that Sony was behind a conspiracy to delete data on 1st gen. hi-md units)

Woaa, I think your riding your hobby-horse a bit hard there...

(to a poster offering to trade porn and was banned)

Please refrain from offering porn as a medium of exchange, paypal might serve your purpose better on this occasion. Being banned may hurt your credibility also...

(to spammers)

Do us all a favour, and *&^% off...

Again, congrats on becoming a moderator.

  • 2 weeks later...

I just added a Google search to the main Search option within the forums, allowing easier access to search Google, forums.minidisc.org, minidisc.org, and atraclife.com. I believe that it will be a bit more favorable (and perhaps accurate) than the forum's search engine. You can see it here:

http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?act=Search

One question: Once you search within it, is it too blue? Or is the color scheme ok?

I am pleased that you enjoyed the new MD media pictorials. I will be updating the section accordingly as time permits.

Yeh keep them updated. The quality of the pics are heaps good, and I think because most of the pics have reviews below them, even more people will want to buy the units because they have got 'legit' feedback, compared to a Sony rep, who might not know much about the product.

Great work guys!

I added a field to the profile for Microphone Equipment, similar Minidisc and 'phones section so you can list what you own within your profile. wink.gif To edit this, just go into 'My Controls' and then 'Edit Profile info' on the right.

I also got rid of the Google search being integrated into the main search. I will try to restore it soon.
