Point of order, it's not 18 years old. There WERE no proper portables back then. It's an LIB-902. Lots of posts on here about this battery, try googling it site:sonyinsider.com

I forgot to ask - does M-Crew now work correctly? If you have never used it before, how do you like it? It's really quite powerful.
-
HA! That suggests there is a backup TOC (I think I read of this but never saw evidence until now).
-
I could only wish that everyone coming on here first time was as smart as you (of course, then there wouldn't be much for us to do). Frequently we don't know what level they are operating at, so it is hard to gauge the correct response (for us to make). Clearly you are an expert already, and we will welcome you back if you have more questions. Enjoy! Stephen

No way, I want to get this working. Now you have to install the PCLink Driver AS WELL, I am sure of this. It's part of the M-Crew download. You just have to look for pclkusb.sys somewhere. Worst case I will make a separate upload, but I promise, it's there in what you downloaded. M-Crew really is very nice. I wish I had an M333 it sounds really convenient.
-
Sorry, wrong driver. You need the old drivers here Or better yet use the all-in-one Netmd052.sys as described in my recent posts again. I will clean that stuff up soon, I promise. I've been rather busy with something else.

You did well - sounds like English not your first language but you managed to follow that discussion. Where do you live? Finally time to make that an "official" version, then, seems to pass all the tests of usefulness. The USB COMM is the driver I was referring to. What I am NOT sure is whether you have to install another driver on top of what is there now. I rather think so - the manual for M-Crew may explain this to you, see below. You should go to the downloads section and grab M-Crew 2.01E. M-Crew is a very nice program and it should work with these drivers. I have never had the M333 in my hands, but I think it should work. Essentially (eventually!) you should end up with THREE lines of communication via a single USB connection: 1. Your PC Audio output device can become the M333, have to go to the "Sounds and Audio Devices" Control Panel and tell it that the default Audio device for playback is the new "sound card" that should have popped in there. Unfortunately I cannot tell you what it is called, but probably "USB Audio Device". 2. Your NetMD device will be the driver we just installed. 3. The (SIRCS emulation, if you know what that is) PCLink driver (for M-Crew) somehow. This is the part I haven't actually tried out. Good luck!

If can stand it, try reading here: If not, then I'll try to help. Notice that the last significant line of the updated netmd052.inf file actually mentions the 333NT. The USB port doubles as a PCLINK port, you may need/want to run M-Crew, but that's another whole story. In that case you have to find THAT driver too.

Sounds a lot like the NH900 is the root of the problem. Jim and I both have some experience in fixing - but it may be that you need pham to fix the overwrite head on the 900.
-
Philippe, make sure you can remove the disk, reinsert it, and that the data (music) really is still there. Lots of buffering, many short tests will appear to work; when the machine is terminally dead already. Stephen

You need pa_driver.zip from the downloads section.

That's because (probably) the ADC on the deck performs a reduction to 24-bit floating precision rather than 16-bit fixed. I noticed this improvement with my very first MD deck, the MDS-JE510, sadly departed this world now. But for sound that's already digital, digi-in works wonderfully, for me. For example radio streams.
-
Sounds like a busted overwrite head to me, or possibly a need for Laser Power adjustment. It could also be a piece of sticky goo from a label inside. I can't tell from your description which machine but my money is on the NH900. RIGHT NOW, put everything you care about into a box (maybe a mental box), and establish some very simple tests with brand new disks that have never been written on. Because of TOC cacheing it's very tricky to see where the error is, you see........ Good luck. Stephen

Funny, I was discussing this yesterday. The point (made to me) is that ATRAC has a wider dynamic range than LPCM. It's actually BETTER at dealing with sound, because essentially a floating-point rather than integer representation of the signal. Make sense?

Not true. It comes (even a "fake" one, about which I am FAR from convinced) with an extender that makes it quite convenient to use. I have 2, one is 3 feet long and rubber but quite flexible; the other is canvas covered and 4 feet long. Very strange, none of those auction pages will translate (they always used to). I wonder what happened to my PC? Or did they fix it on purpose? Hope your Japanese is good

It sounds like good ol' read-only access to me. You might start with the Microsoft end of things, and make sure the shareable folder is permitted Read-Write ("Full Control") to "Everyone". Then make sure your client computer logon user is running as Administrator, or member of the Administrators Group(Sony always seems to warn about this). If that doesn't do it, you'll have to figure out whether Sony is blocking things knowing that the device is networked. But I sincerely doubt it. It's also possible you need to have the exact same user (SID) logged on in both machines to share the music, but don't get too riled up about that until you've eliminated the simpler issues first. All this assumes that you have proper access to the NAS to make it as shareable as you need to. This will mean, at the very least, a Pro Windows of some kind, or a Server version of Windows (you'll know if you have one of these). If the NAS is some proprietary out of the box jobbie then I can't tell you what to do. But every folder you need access to needs to be fully shared for RW access, and permissions either explicitly set; or (better) inherited, because you don't want this pain every time you make a new folder. Hope this helps. You seem to be attacking a lot of new problems in a short time, don't bite off more than you can chew, m8. My "solution" to non-shareable shareable stuff (pretty well all in ATRAC) is to: a. decrypt (remove DRM) any SonicStage tracks, and compress WAV to Atrac Advanced Lossless (flac or AAC may do perfectly well for your purposes). b. regularly clone the music directory to at least one other machine on the network. It's way too precious to lose it with a HDD crash. I use SyncToy from Microsoft, a freebie, works quite well once you get used to its minor eccentricities (inevitable with non-products). I realise that this may be irrelevant to your situation. I have no idea how this kind of thing works with Apple/Qriocity DRM and protected MP3's - the Connect tunes are a thing of the past, and I always smirk a bit at the Ipod mob when they tell me that they can't play their favourite song in the dining-room but can only listen to it upstairs. My fear is that Sony simply doesn't want you to do what you're asking. Start with the NAS issues. If it's DRM you're running into, most likely you can't solve it. Stephen

There are NO new RH1's available through any retail channel any more. You may get a new one from an individual, or some closing out sale. For a year or so, Sony has only stocked the channel with the MZ-M200, supposedly in the Mac-supported line (yeah, I know, Macs are always more expensive so they can get away with that). In reality you are paying almost $100 for a microphone. Said microphone can be bought cheaply if you steer clear of fakes, for under $20. I'd be inclined to look on yahoo japan. Where are you located?

I bought mine from Minidisc Canada, now called PausePlayStop Here is the url. These are NEW items: http://pauseplaystop.com/shopdisplayproducts.asp?id=1&cat=MiniDisc+Recorders Good luck!

No, and no. Did you figure out how to reply to things? If so, send me a PM, I live in your town. Stephen

Maybe you should refer to some of my previous posts before you answer in this way. Unless you were trying to be funny, har har har.....

Sounds like a Microsoft issue, sorry to say. Good luck!
-
Same. To amplify my answer, HiMD data is entirely digital.

Don't understand the question. What do you mean by "an Atrac Disc"?
