Sony has always given Japan more choices that other markets. Sony is a Japanese company and like other companies releases more products to their home country than others. I would agree that it is to Sony's advantage to release more of their technology to other countries (especially America and Europe). The new NW-S710 series comes with a proprietary headphones that include microphone on them. The headphone include the same 13.5 mm drive unit as with the MDR-EX90SL headphone. The unit has an off-on switch for the NC on the top of the unit, to the right of the headphone jack. http://www.ecat.sony.co.jp/audio/walkman/p...amp;KM=NW-S718F

I was wondering that Sony could be releasing another software to manage people music. A kind of carrot for those who have not upgraded the Network Walkmans. It would be mystifying if Sony abandons ATRAC altogether with this new player.
-
Yes, this can be deduced from the pictures taken of both units. However, this is the NWZ-A810.

Whatever came of "Teaser: Sony Changes Everything"
Shinji Ikeda replied to bob123_'s question in Audio
Either Sony will be caught flat footed or have to scramble to release an updated model. DRM is not going to die. By embracing DRM-WMA is a good move since it will increase the user base, however embracing WMA is not bright. It seems that this Japanese electronic giant, is indirectly being dictated what to do by the American music division. I for one will take a wait and see approach. When I have it in hand then I will decide. -
I would have to agree with that. The A810 series has a 2.0 screen, while the S610 has a 1.8 screen. This would make sense. I still believe the announcement will be on September 10.

You need to use a program call Microsoft Applocale. You will be required to run SonicStage through this program. There is alot of help full information on this sight on how to use it. A word of advice, when using AppLocale you must connect the NW-A808 then execute Applocale. You may require re-importing you tracks, but I doubt this.

Do not you think that Sony would release at least a 8GB model. I suspect this is the case, and hopefully a 16GB model. Even with the PS3 they increase the hard drive size, so at least 8GB for the top of line model.

Whatever came of "Teaser: Sony Changes Everything"
Shinji Ikeda replied to bob123_'s question in Audio
It seems that Sony is going to use the NW-A800 series form-factor for both new models. The NWZ-A810 series I suspect will replace the NW-A800 series with longer battery life for videos, and (I hate to say no) SonicStage. The NWZ-S610 series would replace both the NW-S600 and NW-S700 series. There is little change if Sony will only release a 2GB. There will be a 4G and a 8G model. Hopefully, Sony will release a 16GB model. I will wait and see what is going to happen. At least the NWZ-S610 will be released in USA, Sony can not abandon USA. -
The product will be announced on September 10th in Tokyo. It is related to eyeVio, so it does seems like another Mylo.
-
I do not have any others. The details are very limited, thus I will wait until Sony releases more details. edit: Take a look at this link http://eyevio.jp/channel/eyevio_33210

You can look at both links below. The just bombard you with information. http://www.jp.sonystyle.com/Rolly/index.html http://www.rolly-show.com/index2.html However they will announce the product/service on Monday September 10, 2007 at 7:00 PM Tokyo local time.

It seems that I will have to eat my words . Today I saw the NWD-B100F series in a local electronics store in Shinjuku. It is an overseas model, thus it has no support for Japanese. However, it does support English and Spanish among other languages. The unit is more bulky that the NW-E010 series, and not as easy to navigate. It however uses the same menu layout that is on the NW-S700 series. It has a range of up to 108 MHz for the radio. I do not remember the lower end. Actually, it would have been yesterday that I saw it.

I would doubt it. Sony generally phases out production of a product after a new one has been release, not before. Unless, it is Sony U.S.A and I am still confused about them. However, there are reports that Sony will be coming about with a new product in September. From the teaser site it is hard to tell what it is.

Neither the NW-S600/700 series or the NW-A800 series has A-B repeat. This is a useful feature that is missing. I am unaware whether the NW-E010 or NW-E00x series have this feature.

It could also mean that Sony USA will no longer be providing anymore Network Walkmans for the US market. No new models have been released in US since the NW-S705 model. It is said to see Sony USA concede defeat. However, I have heard the the Sony Ericsson phones do not require special software to manage your music.

HK_loves_u, The ability to download and save games on the HDD is one of the major consideration for those that want the PSP to have a HDD. It does not surprise me that Sony did not add a HDD, since it would increase the size of the PSP and add extra weight. Utilizing a memory stick would be a better method, and be consistent with design consideration made for the original PSP. DSJ, You can take a look at the link that gotthat provided it. However, the video out only display the native PSP and one game. The video resolution should be as good as the number of pixels being displayed. With the video out it all depends on how Sony implemented it. Yes, there are limitations, but I do not expect it to compete with standard video.

My perference is to be able to find my tracks as quick as possible. Having to use Aplocat(or whatever is called) seems to be a pain and majorly inconvenient. With that said. Having to scroll through 500 songs for one song no matter how quick the method is. Image having someone arbitary order your music. Of course logically, but not in alphabetical order. This is how Unicode is implemented. Unicode is an excellent method to store data. That what is designed for. I would prefer if SonicStage supported something similar Unicode.

Sony cradle/docking station CPFNW001 for NW A8** series
Shinji Ikeda replied to 1TrackMind's question in Audio
If you gave them your money, then they would have ordered one for you already. Did they give you a estimated date that they would be available? I would say that it would be between 1 to 3 weeks, but I really do not know. Look at this way it will be coming fresh from the factory. -
Where your believe that I am nitpicking or not is irrelevant. It is known that SonicStage implement the support different languages without the use of Unicode. However, Japanese, Korean and Chinese are not English. The order of the should be in the correct order. Different language have different method organizing their words. Unicode is a method of storing and displaying characters, but without respect to the underlying language. It is kind of funny, that from my understanding the iPod's do not allow searching using hiragana, but the NW-A800 series using the Japanese version of SonicStage does. Additionally, it sorts English words in the correct order. Now that is funny. If your native language is not properly supported. ????? is no different than having a hard time searching 500 tracks for one song because it does not support the language being display. Now that is really funny.

I am not familiar with iTunes, but I suspect that it does not fully support the Japanese phonetic alphabet on Non-Japanese computers. Having 休み(yasumi) come before 僕(boku) is phonetically wrong and annoying, since ぼ(bo) in 僕(boku) comes before や(ya) in 休み(yasumi). The shift-JIS code is 966C of 僕(boku) is lower than 8B78 for 休み(yasumi). It is kind of cool being able to read other languages, but it must be in the correct order when searching. Otherwise it becomes just that cool. The best method would to learn Japanese, since the alphabet is in the correct order in the Japanese version of SonicStage. The NW-A800 series work perfectly with the Japanese version of windows, giving full hiragana support. In other words the problem describe above does not exist. You can search based on the correct phonetic order for your songs, artist and albums. Something that seem to not be implemented correctly on that other player, even though the supporting software supports Japanese characters.

Deleting Playlist from NW A808 doesn't delete tracks?
Shinji Ikeda replied to doclloyd's question in Audio
As I would agree with you that there could be a simpler method of deleting large number of files. One user (I can not remember the post) wanted to be able to use playlist to update their player. In other words, they wanted to use a feature like playlist that would allow the copying and deleting of files from the player. Actually, they want a random generated playlist to be updated whenever they connected the player to SonicStage. Both the feature you describe and the random generated playlist would be good features to be added. However, for simplicity purposes it should be player specific feature. Something similar to playlist, but not playlist. -
I could not agree completely. The product would be successful in US. We have to wonder why they have not. With various markets getting interesting players and nothing new being released in USA other than the 2 gig NW-S705F it makes one wonder what is up with Sony USA.

Deleting Playlist from NW A808 doesn't delete tracks?
Shinji Ikeda replied to doclloyd's question in Audio
Actually, this may not be a undesired behaviour. There are some users that would prefer that when you delete a playlist then the songs are automatically delete. However, when a playlist is deleted the songs will not be deleted. This is the correct behaviour. Playlist work the same in SonicStage as it does on the ATRAC Audio Device (player). So for consistency sakes when a playlist is deleted from SonicStage songs are not deleted from the SonicStage library. The deleting of playlist which results in the deleting of songs is not a feature of SonicStage or the ATRAC Audio Device. The feature that you describe has can create various problems. Both from a programming and user aspect. For the user this feature will cause more headache than it would be worth. There is one only extra feature that playlist have with relation to the ATRAC Audio Device. When a playlist is copied to the player, any song that is in the playlist and not on the player are copied. -
I understand your point it is very clear and precise. However, this same competitor has had the same complaint against it (mostly relating to security). Their PR is better at burying this. This is a standard culture of most large profitable companies. The Nile river does also run through Cupertino. I would strongly agree that SonicStage can be better and does need some improvements. I want it to be the best, and accepted as being the best. There are many changes that I would recommend. It seems that Sony does not want consumers to choose the language and how it is supported on their electronic hardware/software. However, this problem is not unique to Sony. There is no clear synergy between other players and the software that is included with it relating to Unicode. Unicode only allow the support of multiple character sets, but this is not full support of the language. The inconsistency between various Sony software and hardware is a complain of many people. This is more of a design issue than a programming issue. My point is that SonicStage and other software/hardware should be based on its own merits, and should be constantly improved over time using user input. Or, by implementing constant innovative features. In other words we like to hear what you like and do not like. Your input is better and more valuable.
