  1. But this does not explain why Sony has not release on of their most advanced DAP to what is called the largest consumer market. However, you points are very clear and precise.
  2. RoGeR-atrac, Wow, so many solutions for different problems. It is always good to have many solutions, that is what makes this community so good. However, the other day I purchased a track from HMV which downloaded in wma. robigouk, as stated above SonicStage does not support DRM WMA files. We suspect that since you purchased the downloaded track from HMV that it has DRM built-in. This is the major down side of DRM files.
  3. Juli, I am glad that you where able to solve your problem on your own. I feel that learning new features about something can be enjoyable and will enhance your experience.
  4. Try the reset button on the reverse of the player.
  5. If this is the second 706 that is causing the problem, then this suggest that there is something else causing the problem. We can discuss the procedures that you are using to delete playlist/tracks later to see if we have found a problem.
  6. Overstating the importance of Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs' company exist only to develop and sell software and Apples CEO knows this. This is why he talked about 'the key is software' Apple almost disappeared when they started allowing other manufactures to sell apple hardware. Thankfully, with the advent of the iPod Aplle has been able to grown on the recover selling there computers. The number one software manufacturers flagship software has more complaints about how it works than Apple sells software. Mr. Jobs is an excellent speaker, but unfortunately too many people live on every word that he speaks. No matter the DAP people spend more time with their player that on their computer. Apple's iPod advertisements constantly express this simple fact, but try to express that with iPod and iTunes this experience can only be had. Anyways, Sony included features of Connect into SonicStage.
  7. The problem is that when the playlist is deleted using SonicStage it is not correctly removed from the player. Under normal conditions SonicStage removes playlists from both the ATRAC audio device and SonicStage library the same way. It has been concluded that the player is not acting correctly, and thus atleast needs to be reset. The resetting will not delete files, but should correct the problem described above.
  8. 1. Both the NW-S700 series and NW-S600 series are flashed based players. Technology flashed based memory does not need to be paused. There are no moving parts that need to be placed in a waiting state, such as a CD. When the player is stopped the position that the track was stopped at is remember. So when the player is started again it resumes at the position that the player was stopped at. Have the player communicate with the supplied software however resets the player. 2. The is no volume cap on any of the current Sony products of DAPs.
  9. SonicStage somethime conflicit with other resourses. I have learned to remove optical drive discs from my computer, or leave the optical drive open when using SonicStage. Ofcourse the exception is when importing CDs. Do not be afraid of closing SonicStage when it seizes and not tranferring files. I generally do not have problems. What other programs are running when SonicStage is being used?
  10. Actually, I been able to determine that your experience is differ that mine. What you explained should remove the playlist entry. This is the same method that I use without any problems. There are speculations way it is not working for you. Your player is acting erratically. There are two methods that I can recommend. More on the second later. Please press the reset button on the reverse of the NW-S706.
  11. It all depends on how you define simple. I have been able to delete playlists for the 706, but hey I may be talking apple's and you orange's. Anyways, that is life .
  12. Hello vinz421, It seems to be a standard response. Sony is saying that the NWD-B100 will be the only on available that does not support SonicStage or similar technology. Sony can revamp SonicStage and give it another name. There is a possibility that Sony will have a replacement for SonicStage, and only that. However, the only thing that we can conclude is SonicStage is not dead. I for one have not intention to speculate about SonicStage until there is an official announcement from Sony.
  13. I always though it was possible to just delete the playlist from the player. Is there not an option in SonicStage to display the playlist on the "ATRAC Audio Device". Under "ATRAC Audio Device", it normally read "Albums" but I always though that it can change to "Artist" and "Playlist". Or am I missing the obvious.
  14. Hello SneezyPorcupine, Sorry to hear about your mishappenstance. In the end everything should workout fine. It all depends on the damage cased whether the music will be on the player when it is returns. I suspect that it will take some time for the part that was damaged to be returned. I have taken a damaged electronic device to an authorized service centre. Both the service centre and distributer did not have the part, so it had to be brought into the country. I think it took over one month. I feel your pain, however everything will be good.
  15. Really, how successful is this software program? This is one reason that I want to get a PS3 and a blu-ray player.
  16. Okay. It seems that the shock has worn off. So even the 600 series is still available. This would make sense, since Sony has not released a replace yet.

  18. Are you sure about the NW-E700 series being discontinued. I know that the NW-E600 series is no longer sold in most parts of the world, however the 700 is still available. Oh well that is life.
  19. It does not seem that the NW-S700/S600 series supports multiple Album/Cover Art for an Album. Additionally, It seems to only transfer the album/cover art that is most commonly used. If this is not the case, then the album/cover art assigned to the the album. - First: if there is a album/cover art used for more that one track then that album/cover art is used instead of the cover/album art assigned to the album. -Second: if each track has its own individual album/cover art then the assigned album/cover art is used. There is a work around for this. You can create a playlist called 'Classical' which includes all the files from. However, this does require that you separate all your album into individual albums.

    HDD help

If you are interested in a flash player the first 16G model is available from Creative. You may have to wait since it is only available in Singapore now. http://www.creative.com/products/product.a...p;product=15306 The battery life is low at 15 hours though.
  21. Kevio, Welcome. The sound quality of the NW-A608 should be good. However the newer models NW-005F and NW-015F both support MP3, ATRAC, WMA, AAC, L-PCM file formats. My recommendation would be the NW-005F since it is a more recent model, and from what I have read the sound quality is quite decent. As you have noticed that it is currently discounted, and since your on a budget it would be a good purchase.

    HDD help

You download the most recent version of SonicStage, or look in the software Discussion for SonicStage alternatives and instructions on how to use them. It may be possible to find an NW-A3000 series replacement battery on eBay. The highest capacity for the NW-A800 series, a flashed based player, is 8 gig. If you are willing to wait until October/November Sony may release a new player. However, there are other brands that have HDD that could meet your needs.
  23. With the current version of the firmware on the NW-S700 series it is not possible to create or add custom screens. It was a great idea when Sony created them for the NW-E400/E500 series, but it was not continued after the NW-A600 series. However, if Sony does decide to add this feature then the first place to check would be here.

    HELP PLEASE

Their computer is definitely an non-MS Windows machine. Hello peterh321, Currently, files can be only loaded using SonicStage which is a Windows only software. It may be possible to use an emulator to run SonicStage on a non-Windows machine, but I do not know if this will be successful.

    NWD-B100 announced

Yes, It is convenient to navigate through playlist using the dial-job (job-shuffle) on the NW-S700 series. However, using the NW-A800 would be more simple, since it possible to navigate through all playlists until the correct playlist is found. On the NW-S700 series you do not require to look at the screen to navigate, but it is required that the player is in playlist mode. Additionally, previous/next playlists/songs need to be queued before you get to the required playlist. Depending on how you use playlist on the NW-S700 pulling out the is quicker and easier. The NW-S700 uses audio queue to indicate when the correct playlist is reached. On the NW-A800 series you can select a playlist during any playback, but going to the playlist menu and selecting any song in the correct playlist. However you need to look at the screen at all times. The added bonus on the NW-A800 is the you can create playlist on the NW-A800 and then re-import them into SonicStage. I would give the overall preference to the NW-S700 series on this.
