hi, i have had similar problems before, but what i do is open the sonicstage FIRST, then connect the device through usb, it always works in my case by doing that.

hey guys! i was trying to install the firmware update v2.0 for my nw-e405 yesterday, everything went all right til i was trying to install it into my walkman. i had connected my walkman to my pc, and it was recharging itself. Then the installation stopped because it says" the device wasnt connected". But i still could open it from "my computer" as the E: drive. same problems occured when i connect the walkman and sonicstage also says the device isnt connected please help me solve this problem! oh and for the ones who had installed the update, i have a few questions to ask: it says b4 the installation: "it is not guaranteed that the files in your device will not be damaged or blahblah..." hawe any of you had your music lost or damaged because of the update? and for the change of the calendar, is the date still on it? i only saw time on the sony website..

product code: CKNW2 picture: how come so many of you guys dont have the case for the 400, 500 and 600 series? sony canada provides this carry case for them. myself bought one for my 405. It looks ok, but it is somewhat too tight to stop your walkman fall out. But the inner surface is kinda rough, my walkman got scratched from it. overall, i think it works well, thx to the belt clip and the other thng on its back. But it doesnt cover all parts of your walkman, so it doesnt work that well for stopping dust going in.

Basically, Sony China had launched a new series of walkman----the CE-P series. It was designed and developed by Sony China, and for many people in China, they didnt like SS, and they wanted coloured screens. The CE-P series are like mp4s, plus voice recording, FM and many other functions. so i guess they would be competitive in China's markets. Since it is made in China, i dont think many of you have heard of it. But i think you will get it someday even if you are not in China. and i just found a review on the new series. My comments: if you like Sony's products but hate its softwares, then you might be interested in this one. I dont have it therefore i dont know too much about it either >.< Source: http://techgaint.blogspot.com/2006/04/sony...p3-players.html Sony has announced the launch of a new set of MP3 players under the name, the CE-P series. The new walkman has built-in flash memory instead of hard drives or Hi-MD media, with models ranging in capacity from 512MB to 1GB and 2GB. With the 1GB and 512 MB players, an FM Tuner is optionally available giving users a wide variety of audio options. As with most players featuring radio, the CE-P series allows direct recording on to memory for future playback. Visually the CE-P is about 1.8-inches wide and about 3-inches tall, and features a 1.5-inch 260,000 color OLED display with a resolution of 128x128 pixels. The CE-P has a USB 2.0 interface to connect to PCs for transferring media, although there is no word of PlayForSure compatibility. The player offers easy download capabilities by direct connection through the USB port, and each player comes with the latest SonicStage 3.4 software version for easy music management and transfer of listeners favourite tracks. The player features two languages; simplified Chinese and English. The walkman is compatible with most commonly used digital music formats like MP3, ATRAC and unsecured WMA files, along with BMP and JPEG viewing capabilities. The new MP3 player boasts 28 hours playback when using the ATRAC3 format, and has a quick-charge functionality giving three hours of battery life in just three minutes. Jeffry Van Ede, vice president, Sony Europe, said that with the new player the company is offering owners a winning combination of style, ease-of-use and functionality. The new slimline walkman builds on the design success of its predecessors, by providing a compact polycarbonate "stick" in a range of vibrant colours including pink, blue, silver, violet, black, and lime green. Sony has also launched a series of accessories to accompany the new players including neck strap headphones, protective case, and an armband case for listeners on-the-go. Although Sony has yet to fix the prices for players in the UK and US, these will be available from the end of April 2006 across Europe. pictures: here's the main menu: calendar: One thing about the review is that it talks about the sonicstage, but according from information in China, it doent say sonicstage is necessary.
