well, i believe it's the same as the 407. I don think that battery will be drained that fast in the sleep mode. i dont think that mp3 file manager works with it

hmm so u didnt buy any kind of service plan along with the player? if u did, it's gonna be cheaper than replacing the screen. Try to get one maybe?

guys i had this problem b4 with my 405, my solution was to clean the usb ports and the cable. It worked afterwards. But for the ones like 003, i havent had this problem yet. Maybe u'll need to clean the usb connector too

Hi. Which unit are u using? Group mode does not work ever since A series came out. In other words, only the walkmen older than E500s allow u to move things around. If u want certain songs to be listed in order, try creating ur own playlist.

Thx for the reply Ishiyoshi The songs that i was trying to transfer are in either mp3 or wma format. For the ones in mp3, the bitrates are 181kbps, 192kbps both in 44.1kHz, and the wma ones are all in 24kbps. Before, i was able to transfer songs in the same format and bitrate with no problem at all. I also tried to just transfer songs at their original format but didnt work either. thx for the help though

Ok seems like nobody has run into this problem..good last night i just had enough with SS, so i decided to uninstall the 4.2 and get back my 4.0, cuz things got worse: every time i try to transfer a song (into any bitrates as i have tested), the messge pops out: unable to transfer the following tracks" and SS either shuts off by itself or froze. Things havent changed after i installed back 4.0, and the problem seems to be my 507 itself, as my 005 worked perfectly with SS just half an hour ago. I can delete songs from my 507 but cannot transfer in any...so strange........... then i tried resetting it with the little thing on the back of the player, twice, and nothing changed. The least thing i want to do is initializing my player, as it will take almost forever to organize the tracks in the way i want. Is there anything else that can be done?? PLZ HELP!!!!!!!

Hi Newbie Pro, go into the Menu> Advanced Menu> Information> number 4 is the version of the firmware on ur player, if u havent done any update, it should be 1.00

2 days ago, i installed the latest sonicstage 4.2. Today when i started transfering some songs onto my 507, there was one stupid problem: i have set my transfering mode to atrac3plus 64kps, and whenever a song is transfered, the message "Unable to transfer the track or tracks." pops up. Every time i had to transfer it a second time to make it work. So this bugs me a lot, any help is appreciated. edit: the songs been transfered successfully (by the second transfer) can play on my 507

hi, try this: Menu>>go up once, go into advanced menu (or go down to 8 in the other way)>>enter>>enter>>rotate your shuttle log and press play wish that was clear enough to help, good luck

It's kinda surprising when i visited sony canada's website yesterday. I found out that they have added historical models, such as the E100, E300, E400, and E500 series. Sony Canada- Portable Audio They were all at rediculous price!! An E307 is still at $169.99, enough to buy a new 2GB nano!! I think they have these models up on the website is because of their boxing day sale, Boxing Day Event, dont lower the price for the "50% off" I think this is a cheap move by sony, these models cost at least 50$ in their stores. And to Canadian customers, DONT EVER buy these products after Christmas! (despite it's quite obvious a person with good common sense would never buy something with such high price)

Yes there is a silver model! At least i've seen it in Japan, US, Canada, and China. For peter312: it's really your choice, i mean, they both stand the same to scratch etc My personal pick would be the silver model. Looks more shiny, and the USB cap for the black ones are black, pretty exclusive. Silver models share the same cap with models of the other colours.

just an update to that, the rubber cover really depends on the individual unit. A few days ago when i visited a sony store, the sample machine got one that really sucsks, it cant even cover up the USB port properly!

hmm it's probably because they want to make the earphones compatitable with remote controls on CD players.

it does get scratched over time, but it is very durable. da one on my old machine still works after almost one and a half year.

Hi Roland, are u from Europe? There's some sort of law made by EU so that all the players have been added a volume limit, that might be the reason that u still need more volume. Models from other parts of the world should be loud enough.

hey SkylineGTRspecII, i have a NW-E005F, but problem 3 does not bother me at all. I did have some trouble reading the display of my old E405(black), but no trouble for 005(violet) so they might improved it somehow. and to johnnybebad, enjoy ur mp3 player ;D SkylineGTRspecII: im not sure about wut DAP stands for but i guess "digital audio player" would make sense
