of course it's the inner cover that gives the color, the one outside is just a layer of protection. i think the 00x ones are different though, but i never opened it before. if u want to change colour, i dont suggest u to paint it cuz it's gonna turn out pretty bad...try to take off the covers and you'll know why. first there isnt a lot of space in between. u probably wont have room for the layer of paint. and the inner cover is transparent which means u dont wanna paint the part where the display is, but that leaves it half silver half blue.

Yes that's what most people would get. Instead of the US, and for some products in Canada as well. I wouldnt disagree when there're reviews joking on sony's packaging in the US. Unfortunately for those who live in the countries with that kind of packaging. Sony SHOULD make the packaging the same.....it's just common sense

hi, lol the "S" stands for "specialized" according to sony jp, not just sports. I guess the new DAP goes to that line for being "specialized" in playing music or line-in recording??

I absolutely agree with you, Imagine. The overall shape of the new series seems not too bad, except the metal frame. I own a E-405, and i'd say the design of E-400,500 looks way better compared to the S-700 series. The design with the frame might be less delicate compared to the 400 ones, but it gives me an awkward feeling, just dont feel like it for some reason. I seriously hope sony would make a new line of DAP with the old design of the E4,500 series and the new features of the S-700s. lol But i think most ppl are gonna critisize it like they did to nano2

i have only had 1 year of time after purchasing my NW-E405 last august, but i have great interests in sony's walkman products. sad to see that sony is struggling hard to fight back apple and other brands in the market, but it is reasonable that sony has lost the battles so far. so lets dig into some "history": sony insisted CD players and MD players after the first mp3 players were introduced then the players did not support mp3 files..has to be converted to ATRAC through the infamous software called "sonicstage" these were only parts of what sony has went wrong in the past but i have to say that sony makes GREAT products! Fantastic designs, simple to use, and awesome sound quality. the main drawbacks of sony are: -bad marketing skills: they should make universal mp3 players with FM tuners so we arent gonna worry about FMs dont work in certain parts of the world they should sell products in more places in the world. in some places in the world the people there arent gonna get the good products except going abroad and sony's products dont come with many functions that doesnt meet A LOT of people's needs sony's products are great for music and fm, but there are still a lot of people looking for more functions like recording and etc also big complaints about poor accessories included is a big problem to people like me. they needed to take good care of the player but soon found that you have to pay a lot to buy some essential accessories like even carry cases and lanyards that's just a RIP OFF...sony doesnt remember that he's not apple and apple's definitly not great by ripping off its customers better accessories come with the player can also raise the popularity of sony.. im sure last part is sonicstage again sony doesnt need to copy apple. i myself dont find it too buggy but still, a lot of people dont buy sony because of the bad software. sony is not a software maker so i dont blame that. but there must be better ways to put in songs like by drag and drop. that would make it a lot easier finally, i dont think sony will be crushed since it has been successful trying to get the market back from apple in the past few years. sony is improving, but it definitly needs more to beat ipods. i hope to see walkman rising again! remember how the "empire strikes back"? lol

ok im way behind the current news now and i just read about the new ipods today >.< my first impressions- how did they make the shuffle so small? that reminds me of the cube thing made by mobieu(i think i spelled it wrong) so i guess the i shuffle's butt has been kicked by sony's E000 and other brands so they decided to make the "USB drive" even smaller, and with a clip too (that clip's really good, way better than the ones sony gave out on E4,500 and A600s O_o) the i nano's kinda interesting after putting on mini's outlook and with a greater capacity interesting move by apple, even though the products are still not appealing to me. but i certainly hope that sony will make his moves too i am looking forward to see new or enhanced products by sony

hi i have never tried that case before on my 405 so i cant give ideas on that >< it might be really tight if u squeeze it in cuz 500s are one round thicker than the 000s and dont forget 500s are 3line display, u might only be able to see the artist's name in that case

what's the point of this? dont they know there're LOTS of Chinese ppl in the States? Sony better start making universal ones, yea with the same worldwide radio frequency

Hello, i am using the CK-NW2 carry case for my E405 for over half a year now. The back of the case has one iron square piece that connects with the carabiner. But now it starts to rust, the edges and sides all turned red-brown, and the rest is getting worse too. Could anyone give me ideas on how to stop the rusting? Thx

Hi there! i have experienced the same problem just a few days ago. I was using NW-E405 and had about 250 songs. I decided to initialize my walkman and restore the music. It took me a lot of time with 200 songs (including the time i spent on organizing everything). I wouldnt suggest u to do that. I remember the error says something like either initialize or reset your player. I remember back on the manual booklet, or the manuals flash (installed along with SS), says you wont lose any music imported in the device if u press "reset" button. Try to press "reset" if it ask u to reset it. Hope it will work.

Hi , maybe i can help with some of your questions 1. it uses the sonicstage, but probably later version, like CE-P 4.0. I dont know if it supports earlier versions. 3 i think it is possible, donno about changes in sound quality, but a big chance (using my common sense) 4 please refer to your manual booklet that came along with your player 5 i have read latest news about volume unlock, still not possible i myself dont own a E005, so i am not familiar with many parts of your questions, sorry about that. Hope u will enjoy the new walkman

hey everyone. i have my NW-E 405 along with sonicstage 3.0 . i have been using it for almost a year now. just earlier today, i installed sonicstage cp 4.0. the installation went quite well, but when i connected the walkman to my computer, a window pops out saying "THE CONNECTED ATRAC AUDIO DEVICE CANNOT BE USED WITH THE CURRENTLY INSTALLED SONICSTAGE. TO USE WITH THE CURRENTLY INSTALLED SONICSTAGE, YOU MUST DELETE ALL THE TRACKS IN THE ATRAC AUDIO DEVICE OR INITIALIZE THE HARD DISK OF THE ATRAC AUDIO DEVICE". i have all the songs in my walkman and i had spent a lot of time organizing all the information (im the well-organized kind ) and i do not want to be bothered to delete all my songs. (and im too lazy too) is there any other way beside reseting my mp3 player? plz help me!
