Here is the scoop thanks to ATRAC Life on the new MDR-EX700SL N.U.D.E EX monitor IEM's, but get this.... they're gonna cost you about $320.00 U.S..... OUCH!!! http://www.atraclife.com/2007/09/03/mdr-ex700sl/#more-255 Special thanks to Ishii (ARIGATO!!!) for getting the scoop on these beauties!!! I just sure hope I spelled "arigato" right Ishii. Right now I am enjoying some Creedence Clearwater Revival on my 1970s Hi-MD called "Bell Bottom Glory" though my MDR-EX90SL and RM-MC40ELK and my MZ-NH700 as I write this.

I tried finding them (MDR-EX700SL) on eBay, no such luck, any idea on price (in USD) or a release date, these look more like they are geared towards the audiophile that wants to take his/her portable audio to the next level. I myself own a pair of EX90SL, and I never thought they would ever be "bested" by another Sony unit, but I guess technology has only one place to go....up.
-
If you want the best, and at less than or at about $100, I highly recommend the Sony MDR-EX90 (N.U.D.E EX Monitor Series, as they are known as in Japan) units. If your unit has an inline remote control, I recommend the EX90SL, a Japan-only model available though Audio Cubes at http://www.audiocubes.com/category/Headpho..._Earphones.html as it has a remote-friendly 0.5 meter cord with a 0.7 meter extension cord in caes you want to use it for other units. Otherwise, the MDR-EX90LP will do fine (available just about anywhere), same earphones, but with a full 1.2 meter cord instead.

There is hope for you.... ...just get yourself a professional deck such as the ones you would find through either Musician's Friend or Guitar Center. You cannot find these kinds of decks at Circuit City or Best Buy, home decks from those places DO have SCMS in them. Pro decks are also available through MiniDisco and B&H Photo-Video-Pro Audio from companies like Tascam or HHB. I myself own a Sony MDS-E10 pro MD deck and an HHB CDR-850 pro CD deck (both bought from Musician's Friend) in my home studio, otherwise known as HMW Studio One after using home units which did have SCMS. Unlike home decks, Professional decks do not recognize SCMS or any other copy protection nor do they encode any on the copied disc. There are also ways of defeating or overriding the SCMS on home decks, but that requires both a service manual on your deck as well as going into your deck (opening it up) in order to set the override circuitry in place. Maybe someone on this board can help you with that advice.

Another believer in The Source, mainly from the one who started it all. As for hardcore ATRAC users and fans being in small but very loud numbers, I guess it's just like either the National Hockey League (and ESPN always cracks a joke saying "nobody's watching anyway".... B.S.!) or the Professional Bowlers Association on TV (Sundays on ESPN going up against the NFL in the same time at the 1 pm ET/10 am PT slot), there ARE fewer of us who enjoy them, but, we are the most passionate, the most outspoken, and also, the most loyal supporters of our format, til the better end or the bitter end. BTW, I have been a huge PBA bowling fan since I was a kid (when it was on ABC on Saturday afernoons), and a bigger NHL and Los Angeles Kings hockey fan since 1975 when I was growing up in L.A. Some things just aren't worth sticking a fork in quite yet (too early), but how long will the time be, only time and we will tell that.

We all do basically, by owning and running our MD and Hi-MD units, for we are powered by The Source, and are superior to the ones we call the iSheep, and together we will stand as one with this one united slogan: "ATRAC or DEATH!!!"

http://www.atraclife.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=4116 Now, one question, will they do this for ALL older Walkmans and also with NetMD and Hi-MD walkmans???
-
Sony WILL Release WMP update for older Walkmans!
BIGHMW replied to veggiemusician's question in Audio
What about us Hi-MD, NetMD and Atrac CD users? Will WE be able to reap in the potential benefits of this news too? and what about RealPlayer? Cindy Margolis' "Cindy Radio Show" http://www.cindyradioshow.com only operates on RealPlayer. -
Good thing I have two MZ-NH700 units. I was gonna get a pair of NH600D units to go along with it, but, for car use, but, the NH600D has no DC in jacks, therefore that specific unit won't work with my MD/Hi-MD compatible DCC-E230, which does work with the NH700. One more question, I have the Connects 2, I have the NH700, and I have the DCC-E230 DC adapter, will the DC adapter cause any noise or interference while playing the NH700 through the car deck using it and the Connects 2? Perhaps one of you may have an answer, as I have successfully used this setup before minus the DC adapter, however I don't want to waste the batteries, as Energizer E2 Lithium batteries are quite $$$, but, if you want the best, it's gonna cost you some $$$.
-
True indeed. Everybody on both this board and over at the ALC (with the possible exceptions of perhaps Cindy Margolis as well as the other many naive iSheep out there) knows that ATRAC/3/3Plus is a superior codec compared to MP3, AAC, WMA, or other lossy formats of compression. Hey, but word does get around, so fear not, someone out there will take over the support for ATRAC compression, long after Sony ditches it (and us) as long as there are millions of loyal fans of it. There are other users of it besides all of us MD and Hi-MD owners, i.e.: ATRAC CD Walkman users (I myself own a couple of D-NE700 units in addition to my lineup of MD and Hi-MD Walkmans and decks), as well as the many Network Walkman users also enjoy the many superior benefits of the ATRAC family of codecs, such as superior sound quality especially at high compression rates (try standing to listen to MP3 in 64K as compared to ATRAC3Plus at that same rate!) in which the highs don't fizzle on you, and the dynamic range and clarity is as high as in legacy ATRAC 292K (MiniDisc in SP mode).

I belive that the corporate monopoly known as AT&T is mostly responsible for the price-gouging for Apple's iPhone, as they are the exclusive cell phone provider for that piece of crap. Also, Apple is at fault too, as they made it impossible for independent "mom and pop" stores to carry their phones, as only authorized Apple stores (none here in Port Townsend, or Port Angeles or anywhere else here on the Olympic Peninsula for that matter) had the right to carry it, so I think that you can blame not only Apple for this, but also AT&T (the worst cell phone service in America, as I use Verizon myself), becuase of their little exclusivity scheme, until the guy who knows how to hack the iPhone reveals the code (similar to the NW/MD Walkman volume/EQ hack I believe), this gouging will continue, as AT&T and Apple know that if the codes become public, than all of us Verizon, T-Mobile, Alltel and Sprint/Nextel users will be able to join in to the iPhone craze as well.

Hey dude, if you want a color-screen or equivalent Hi-MD Walkman, and one with one-megapixel photo taking capability, go for the DH10 instead, although I would also go for an RH10 for the line and mic inputs that the DH10 does not have, as well as its clip-on "AA" battery capability. As for a 15th anniversary edition or something, I believe Sony owes US someting for our decade-and-a-half of loyalty to the format, yes. Preferably a Hi-MD deck (car, pro, or home), and perhaps one last Walkman unit as well (at a typical Sony premium price) or better than even that, a Magic Gate/DRM-free version of SonicStage, as an available special 15th anniversary limited edition (free for those who purchased the RH1 in the past year, with proof of receipt, of course) or at a good price to lure the rest of us in to getting 2 or 3 discs of it.
-
Me neither, especially since they will not support underground, struggling, or independent artists such as myself, neither as The Heavy Metal Warrior (with my old hardcore/thrash band S.M.F. from 1997-2003) nor as my current gangsta-rap moniker, AK47 (2003-present).

"BuyFromJapan" is highly recommended, as they ship via EMS (Express Mail Service) from Japan Post. I have gotten not only an MC40ELK from them, but also the EX85SL Black and also the EX90SL N.U.D.E. EX IEM monitors. They have both great service and extremely fast shipping (with tracking), considering they are coming from Japan, THE source for Sony gear. The EX90SL goes perfect with the MC40ELK and I recommend this setup especially if you have either a Silver RH1 or Silver NH600D, NH700S or NH900S. If you're gonna get the MC40ELK and like IEM's or canal phones, I highly recommend you also pick up a set of EX90SL's as well.

I got the e-mail. Thanks. I'll PM you the details when payday arrives on the 14th (one week from tomorrow).
-
A thing of beauty if you ask me (see my old post right here for details http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...p;hl=RM-MC55ELK, I already own one (new) for one of my two Black RH710 units and could sure use a backup remote like yours (I am interested in acquiring yours basically, as I get my next paycheck from work on the 14th) as they are not to be found anywhere (except in white) on eBay.

Perfect. I found a link to one from WHSLE.BIZ in Asia. Here it is for all of my fellow MiniDisc-heads out there: http://store.whsle.biz/product_info.php?cP...products_id=158 Now I will be ready for the Seattle Mariners 2008 season when I go to a few games over at Safeco Field next season, as I will be able to hear the play-by-play (with Dave Niehaus and Rick Rizzs, along with Dave Sims and Mike Blowers) of a ball game, and if one happens to be televised locally I can now choose between radio and TV versions of the calls of all the action. GO MARINERS!!!
-
I just wonder, since they are bassically the same firmware, if these NHF800 codes in the service mode will work with the NH700, so I can truly use the RM-MC39LT remote with it and have all four bands (AM, FM, TV and WB) work accordingly.
-
All my hack info came from this link: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=8157 and here are the codes from that destination code thread for both units: MZ-NH700 US - (Not a US model??) Canadian/Australian 20 Europe/UK A0 Hong Kong/Korean 25 E91/Mexican 20 MZ-NHF800 US 50 Canadian/Australian 30 Europe/UK B0 Hong Kong/Korean 34 E91/Mexican - Now I am confused, as I thought you had to change the code in the service code (113) in order to get the different readouts, just like the link suggested. At least I know the AM and FM parts of the tuner will work, it's just a matter of getting those TV channels and weather bands channels to work on mine. I just need to make definitely sure that I can get all four functions on it.
-
Yes, I know that it already has the AM and FM tuner built into it, but in order to get the TV and weather bands as well, you need to either have the USA-model NHF800, or do a hack on an NH700... or do you? I have dealt with Sony Dude before on eBay, and he is highly recommended for that, thanks. Except though, the regional use of the MC39LT and its functions vary from European to Asian to Australian/Canadian and US models of the NHF800, and only the USA model NHF800 allows the TV and weather bands to function on the MC39LT.
-
Thanks for the info Bob. Now I know the MC39LT remote will work with my NH700. But can anybody provide me with a hack so I can get AM/FM/TV/Weather on the remote and have the unit behave like the USA-model NHF800? If there is a way to do it, I know someone here on this board can provide it for all of us. Ishi? Chris? Anyone? My Visa card awaits for the folks over at Sony DAPC, despite it having to cost me $160.00 (plus tax & shipping, no big deal) to get one.
-
I own two MZ-NH700 Hi-MD units, one from Canada (bought on eBay in 2004) and one from Australia (bought 3 months ago from MiniDisc Access), and I was wondering since it has the same phones/remote jack as the NHF800 and I have read posts on this board of it being compatible with the NH700, if there are any hack codes available so it acts just like i.e. the USA model of the NHF800, so I can use an RM-MC39LT remote and get the added bonuses of USA-only audio TV and weather band modes as well as North American AM and FM. This would be SO great to have my choice of either the MC39LT with tuner or the MC40ELK (the Cadillac of Walkman remotes) to use at any will with my NH700 Silver. Any help guys?
-
I am dedicating the remainder of my next two paychecks (9/14 and 9/28), after I pay all of my bills, to getting another RH1, this time from MiniDisc Canada, I do have a direct link to heir site. I have even better mics (I own an ECM-MS907/908) than the ECM-DS70P that comes with the M200, and also as a backup in case my current RH1 ever goes out on me.
-
I found this out, when using my NH700 with my MDX-C5970 in my VW Bus, that the way to select group/album folders is to use the changer buttons (marked 1-6) to change the group/album (depending on your settings). Just go one-up i.e: from 1-2 or 3-4 to go up the next album or down twice, i.e.: disc 2 then disc 1 in succession, in order to go back a group or album. As for the lack of titles for the 2nd and 3rd generation Hi-MD units (i.e.: RH710/910/10/M100 and RH1/M200) as opposed to only the first wave of Hi-MD units (NH1/600D/700/F800/900 units), that is some news to me. I own all three generations of units (2 NH700, 2 RH710, and an RH1 unit as well) and that is a bit of a shocker. I would have thought that the good folks at Connects 2 would have tested an RH710 and an RH1 or M200 to see if they displayed titles so they can have the latest firmware in which to reflash the ASONWHD001 to read titles off of on the HU itself.

Unit Stolen: eBaying my stuff (pics added for remotes)
BIGHMW replied to akijikan's topic in Classifieds
The MZ-DH710 is the U.S./Canada-market download-only version (USB I/O) of the U.K./Europe-market RH710 recorder. The DH710 has only a USB I/O as opposed to the added bonuses of that aforementioned DC 3v IN jack (N/A on the DH710) and a LINE/OPTICAL IN jack and REMOTE/PHONES jack which also came only on the RH710 and not the DH710. I own an RH710 and am glad that because of these three added features I got it.
