Thanks for this detailed testing Garcou, I will have to try out the 2x PCM dubbing on my bookshelf. * Thread moved to Software Discussion section

To answer your original topic, the answer is no, there is no "unlocking" mechanism for old hardware. For further discussion on the B series please see our sister forum www.atraclife.com/forums. If would like to sell your gear please open a thread in the clasifieds section * Topic closed

Have a search in the Software Discussion section or try looking in the help in Sonic Stage under the section titled "Transferring a Track to a Net MD".

I'm not sure if Sonic Stage will import some of the DRM'd files from I-toons that have the .M4P extension. It only supports DRM free AAC files.
-
For all Sonic Stage queries relating to non-md gear please check our related forum AtracLife as Bob says. Thanks.

Set the "'Compilation Album"' property for the album to be checked and if you then check the options under the properties of each track to be "Tracks In The Compilation Album" this should move them to the same album.
-
It should stay the same, but as a precaution I always plug in the HDD before my Atrac devices, and usually into the same usb port.

I'm not sure on Vista - try right-clicking on My Computer and choosing the "Manage" option. In the console that opens up click "Disk Management" on the left hand side. Alternatively look for the Computer Management icon under Control Panel => Administrative Tools. Once in there if you ever need to change the drive letter (make sure your external hdd is connected) then right click on the volume in the right hand panel and choose "Change Driver Letter and Paths".

Which is in effect what I meant. - The only effect the higher resolution has on roman characters is that it makes them display thinnner. I guess they may look slightly smoother as the pixels are smaller.

Happy Birthday Bananatree! - If you're still reading the forums from time to time, hope you have a great day!

I'll keep an eye out for any black 55ELK's for you. Otherwise the only advantage of the ELK is that it will display Asian characters. The screen simply has more pixels compared to the 53EL. This is obviously in order to display complex characters. The only effect it has on the standard roman alphabet is that they will appear taller and thinner on a 55ELK compared to the 53EL. You could also try this store http://store.whsle.biz/ - another Chinese seller, he only has the blue model listed, but it may be worth an inquiry.
-
I also use an external drive for my library. As the previous poster says check the "location to save imported files" option has the same drive letter as the external HDD. Sometimes the external HDD will get allocated a different letter if you plug in another device before it. You can re-allocate it the correct letter via the Disk Management snap-in in Windows.

If I recall correctly the 55ELK is not available for sale as an accessory in Japan like the 40ELK and 35ELK. You may be able to get one as a spare part but it'll likely be more expensive. Your best bet is probably ebay. I bought a black 55ELK from a Chinese seller last year.

I'm pretty sure - I have a DH10P myself. The USB cable powers the unit when it is connected to the PC (stops it from consuming battery), but it doesn't "actively" charge the battery so you will need the cradle I'm afraid. (Unless you have another MD unit that takes LIP-4WM batteries for which you also have the charger).

The NW-A80x is USB 2.0 i believe but doesn't really take full advantage of it. Consequently the transfer speeds are quicker than say Hi-MD but not as fast as some other Sony HDD players. Apart from that what are your impressions?
-
It's the same cable as the NH1 / NH3D / N10, but unfortunately can't be used to charge the unit so you will have to look for a separate cradle or order one from Sony Services. The part no for re-ordering (for the cradle) is A-1108-517-A. The model is DH10P charging cradle BCA-MZDH10P. If you are also missing the cable the best bet is to pick one of those up from ebay. * Moved to Hi-MD section
