i don't even know what the HD1 looks like. My first introduction to sony hdd players was the HD3. you mean the HD1 shipped WITHOUT mp3 compatability? =\ who would buy one?
-
oh i get it now... yes come to think of it it would be nice to select if the player automatically moved to a new album once the current one was finished or stopped playing and turned off.
-
try jv16powertools' registry cleaner it deletes a lot of old obsolete keys/directories etc. i should give that a run actually. maybe a defrag too
-
its called redundancy if you can upgrade and improve your existing product then there is no need to buy a new one = sony losing money on new products. it's like the way the new ipod can play videos but the old one can't. sort of....

GYM | Network Walkman BROWSER-PLAYER-EXTRACTOR
sh33p replied to xispe's topic in Grab Your Music (GYM)
if I had gym on the player itself and I hooked the player up to a computer that had nothing sony on it could i run gym from the player to play the music? -
wait Ascariss what is the problem you are referring to? Are you saying that the fact the player pauses after it has played every item in the playlist is a problem? The point of REPEAT is so that the playlist is repeated... I don't see why you would want the player to repeat when repeat play is both enabled and disabled. If I'm going to bed and I want to put on some music I'll run an album playlist but I don't want it to play all night or until the battery dies, I want it to stop playing when it's played everything in the playlist. That applies to regular listening too. I don't want to listen to an album 3 times in a row, I want to know when the album is finished so I can chooes another playlist to listen to.

got a link to the softcase? mine came with a free black and white leather case but it makes it rather bulky. how do the plastic covers connect?
-
i think playlists made and imported to the player can be changed once its hooked up to CONNECT. it's only when you're on the go the player itself can't edit playlists, but will be able to soon is what i think ascariss was trying to say ... well. i can't edit playlists on the go.
-
Does anyone know? [i think it's still on-topic... If not mods I will start a new thread]

The Link Button is the awkward thing that sticks out on the top left corner of the player, opposite the volume switch. It turns orange when you turn it on. It's clear and quite stiff so press it hard and remember to hold it while you're entering the key sequence.

Isn't there already a poll that's almost identical? "What should be improved in CONNECT"... or is that "What should be improved in the players themselves" ? I chose the option to be able to select several tracks for tag editing simultaneosuly. OK I voted Other and here's my suggestion: Instead of being able to export music back onto the PC (which would be nice) what I'd like is to be able to play the music back off the player (like with GYM which is a bit patchy for me) because that way I can 1. delete all the music off my pc saving space 2. hook my a3000 up to my laptop when i don't have speakers Exporting to PC is a great idea I'd definitely like to see, but sometimes I won't have the space on my hdd.

if you go to Tools, Preferences, then Views, look for the line that says Date imported and check the box next to it. Then when you look at your library you can sort your songs by the date they were imported and highlight the newest ones to be transferred.
-
also put numbers in the actual track title so it looks like 01 Track 1 Title 02 Track 2 Title that way they will be sorted alphabetically. make sure you have the 2.01 firmware as it would appear that older versions don't rank tracks based on the idtag track number
-
Try WMP and see if that album info works. if it does you might as well use WMP to rip to mp3 and then just import to CONNECT probably easier than typing everything in.
-
Ascariss should that say "you can't edit actual playlists.... although that might change" ?
-
I said to the other person who also wanted to return his player, be patient and try to work things out. The player itself is a fantastic device. You've just got to find a way to work around things... If CONNECT is really unworkable, try SonicStage 3.3, you can download it here somewhere
-
if a3+ > mp3 bitrate for bitrate then is a3+ 320 > mp3 320 ?
-
woahh. have you tried the firmware and software updates? what kind of problems are you running into? firstly, you won't be able to get your money back. that's a dead cert, you'll only be able to exchange it for something of equal value, maybe a psp. secondly, what have you tried to get it working? have you tried using sonicstage 3.3 like every other person on the forum recommends? i personally don't like giving up on something until i've tried everything possible. returning things is a hassle that can often be avoided, especially when the a3000 is a brilliant product in its own right.
-
yes even if you make a clean install from the 11180 file it will still be identified as 11170 in the About window. Don't worry about it, it works. The reason you're not getting auto-update prompts is because it is up-to-date.

as for tips with CONNECT: be PATIENT use manual sync don't run other cpu/memory intensive apps at the same time be patient!
-
blutack is it any faster if you start up connect before plugging in the player?
-
i think if you post inapproriate comments and people report you then you get a warning which leads to banning i would imagine. are nwa3000b's hard to find? i have one and dammmn it is pretty. as for tips with CONNECT: be PATIENT use manual sync don't run other cpu/memory intensive apps at the same time be patient!

perhaps the track number data was lost when you transferred your songs from sonicstage to connect.... my albums play in the correct track order when I tell it to play the album. however, if you play an artist playlist it will play alphabetically. yes even on multi-artist albums it will obey the track order. now.. if you've updated the firmware, and it still doesn't follow your track order, there are two things you can do: 1. bring it back to sony because it sounds defective or 2. incorporate the song number into the track name at the very beginning so you have 101 - Track One 102 - Track Two etc where the first digit is the album number.. hopefully you have less than 10 greatest hits mixes. but if you just got it, try the 2.01 firmware update and tell us how it goes
-
there isn't one yet but according to i think stuge the test mode will be very similar to the HD3/5 since those two were identical, and in the test modes there is nothing of value other than SP.
-
if you're already using 11170 then the update doesn't really work, i don't really think it's necessary to update to 11180 if you have 11170 because the older version already has support for playing back WMA's in the library. with the new firmware you should be able to also transfer wma's but i don't think any of the other major bugs were fixed. otherwise you can uninstall CONNECT player and then run the update file to install it. it will still be id'd as 11170 in the About window though. Mods: I'm sorry I clicked the wrong button again.... Disregard that report...
