anything is better than ipod bruv and it depends what you're looking for. as far as hardcore music players are concerned this is one of the top. if you don't need to play videos or a colour screen go for it

is lame mp3 any different to what people know as simply mp3? i rip with WMP10 to mp3 320CBR just because i'm a nut and i want the best sound possible ignore that report i sent i clicked the wrong button sorry

welll we don't even know what the other options do yet... unless you know.. care to tell us? Question: does SP (sound pressure limit) draw more power (shorten the battery life) when it is off/unlimited compared to when it is on, even if you're playing at the same volume?

in the options menu you can select the folder format you want your files to be saved and the way the songs are titled.... if it didn't organise the files what would you want done with them after ripping?

Bug: The Import Directory function doesn't work for me... I tried to import a folder where I have several albums and they just don't go in, I have to Import File and do each album folder individually. Bug: CONNECT occasionally ignores a track when Importing File because (I think) the file is not tagged. This has only happened twice though, so it's not a major issue. Concentrate on the first one

yeah even with shuffle on my a3000 will return to the very first track, Adagio for Strings by DJ Tiesto, after I unplug it from the pc.

no it wasn't that.... i just let an album play all the way through and it turned off. before i had tried just skipping through all the tracks, because i'm used to the way my MD treats skipped tracks as played, so if you skip through all the tracks then the player stops. with the nwa3000 i was skipping indefinitely, even songs i had already skipped. thanks for the hold tip definitely. cheers

does anyone find it odd that Hold can't be engaged when the player is off? I have a nwa3000 and i'm worried about it starting while its in my pocket so i tried to put hold on but the button doesn't do anything, does that happen to anyone else? and is there any way to make the player stop playing after its played all the tracks in the selection? I like listening to music when I go to sleep but i want it to turn off after a while and from what i can see once the player gets to the end of the playlist it just starts again, is there any way around that?

mine always says Connecting too, and the volume hack allows you to go even louder with AVLS already off, I think. I have AVLS off and I used the hack and i don't need to go over 20 with the bundled headphones

i extracted everything from CP-PM-Update-1.0.02.11180-English_UK.exe and the msi i found for CONNECT still gave me xxxxx.11170... i don't know... if i try to run it as is, it tells me the target software for this module is not installed... ??? oh right. only versions below 11170... does that mean a complete uninstall is needed in order to use it?

no it does not. very straightforward

i like to discharge it out of habit but you probably won't go wrong by charging it out of the box.

perhaps sony is some how manipulating the ipod's popularity and realises there will be people dead set against buying ipods who will settle for any credible alternative. i know i am most certaintly guilty of this charge. that and the battery life. i hate having to charge

i'm using connect and its worked perfectly for me so i'll tell you just what i did 1. open it and just look at it for about five minutes because its so beautiful 2. turn it on and listen to it because the sound is so crisp 3. let it drain a the batt a little bit while you install connect etc. 4. i installed the EU version of connect i don't really know why because i live in A-Pac... 5. do all the updates for connect first, get the november 17th patch its something like 1.0.0.02.1117 6. when the player battery is dead hook it up and let it charge 7. get the nwa3000 1.01 firmware update 8. as for artist link read this thread http://www.atraclife.com/index.php?showtopic=487&hl= everything else doesn't really matter. for god's sake don't drop it. treat it like your first child be PATIENT with connect... it will be a bit slow sometimes but it hasn't glitched on me yet. i would say try to avoid running other cpu intensive activities while you're fiddling with connect. good luck with your purchase

i think the thing that always brings me back to sony is the fact that they make hardcore no-nonsense music players for people who want simply that. i travel a lot and i appreciate not having to run for a power outlet every five hours. i would've gone for the new creative for the extra 10gb but nothing can compete with sony for pure practicality. and connect runs fine on my p-m 2.0 laptop. heyy just out of curiosity, who's running CONNECT on Auto-sync, and who's running it on manual sync? I'm running it on manual and it's fine for me... I wonder if the people experiencing problems have it on AUTO and could alleviate them by trying manual?

treat artistlink like the rotating screen function of the nwh5.... pretty cool, in theory. but really nothing more than a novelty feature and utterly useless... i'm sorry if i'm a bit slow, but basically you connect your device to the pc, open up Connect Player and leave it connected to the net and it will update the track tags on the player so that artistlink works? trippy. maybe thats why my bandwidth is shot to hell strange i don't see gracenote.cddb.com listed when i run netstat... that means its not doing anything =\
