  1. yup that's rite...and it'll be a good idea to get a NetMD for the convenience of fsater than real-time transfer of mp3's from PC -> MD...
  2. both of those r pretty good...the 71's seem sumwhat "muffled" coz of their in-ear structure i think...they force sound down the silicon tube deeper in2 ur ear which in effect duz boost the bass levels considerably higher than open air earbuds but i would'n say that the 888's hav little to no bass @ all..i've owned a pair of 888's myself and am quite happy with them...they sound crisp and clear to me i dunno who said that they had no bass but they sound fine to me... sorry i can't help you here...i've never bought anything online before since i usually buy most of my stuff from shops while i'm in hk, taiwan, singapore or japan...but from wot i hear in other forums Etronics aren't too bad and they seem to be pretty good with delivering the goods you've purchased...u should ask around for opinions from other users who've purchased stuff from there b4 so that you can be sure they aren't gonna run off with your money or close up shop or sumfin... :?
  3. it may also be the difference in quality of the headfone amps that they put in those units? because i kno that they dun make em like they used to...
  4. i suggest that you take a look at the Sennheiser MX500's...they're cheap and are pretty good quality... i think Sharp uses OEM versions of those buds, rebadge them and then ship em out with their MD units...
  5. I've been using both the Sony MDR-E888SP and MDR-F1...the latter i only use on my mini-system at home...
  6. there sould b a link to a site sumware...i was sure sum person put it up...but as that i'll hav 2 dig around...
  7. yup i agree with anodize*skyther...u should try to do the hack located here...itz well worth doing...best of luck...

    a weee bit of help

um hmmm...well regarding the sites i would most probably say that u can take a look @ AVLand and the cables are just basically normal two sided 3.5mm stereo plugs (one on each end i.e.)...i'll try and dig round some UK sites and post a direct URL here if i can find it... about the simple guide, it's not realli that hard to record from MD -> PC...i'll give u a simple run down here... 1) Plug in the cable from the LINE OUT on ur MD (or HEADFONES output if it doesn't hav a LINE OUT setting) to the LINE IN on ur soundcard. 2) Open up a recording program that your soundcard has then set the input as LINE IN 3) Press PLAY on the MD unit and press record on the recording program and that's about it...u may need to adjust the volume of the MD recorder if u are using its HEADFONES jack, otherwise if therez a LINE OUT option then i would suggest u use that. hope this very simple guide helps you out, feel free to ask anything if you still have some doubts and i'll c wot i can do to clear it up...happy hunting...
  9. hey there, i'll try and answer ur q's as much as i can... to be honest with u i have used both the N10 (i own 1) and the DR7, and IMO i would say that the DR7's sound output is a lot better than the N10's. i feel that the N10's output is too weak as compared with my N1...the sound output seems a little more clearer as it tends to err towards outputting the treble more than the bass...the DR7 does a good job with the bass (as with all other Sharp units) and the output overall is quite good. I would'n really say one is better than the other it's just realli personal preference... well Sony's DSP Type-S and Type-R is just an encoding algorithm that Sony's units use when recording in SP (ATRAC Type-R), Type-S is using Type-R for recording SP and apparently also improves the decoding of LP tracks...well again i would'n say that it puts Sony on the forefront or Sharp either since i don't realli kno the specs of both algorithms so i don't kno sorri... but i hope this helps...

    a weee bit of help

hey there, yes and no, u can u/l files from an MD but using the old non-NetMD method (analogue cables)... and to answer ur first q £250 is about hmmm...A$650-$700 am i correct??? well i would say that u take a look @ the Sharp series of recorders...depending on whether or not u wan NetMD capabilities or not i would suggest u take a look @ the DR7 (non-NetMD) or the IM-MT880 (NetMD) since they more or less fit ur wants that u desribed... click on the link below to check out the specs of the units : Sharp Recorders hope this helps...
  11. -=Golden=-// if u care about pricing and u wan good earphones/buds then i suggest u look @ the Sennheiser range (namely the MX400/500)...really good buds and also great value 4 money...

    batteries

Ni-MH's are higher capacity as well...Ni-Cd's are bout 600mAh and Ni-MH's about 2000mAh...
  13. well u could say that it kinda is a personal preference but then again it is a known fact that Sharp is better for live recordings than Sony is...well in most ppl's opinions that is...
  14. ur rite bout that Daijoubu...Jason if u want 2 use OpenMG u must use the drivers that came with the N1/707/505 series...itz wierd i kno but that's the only way it'll work...the N10 driver only seems 2 work with either SimpleBurner or SonicStage but not with OpenMG...
  15. no sorry, i personally hav'n used the card b4 but i hav heard the card through freinds of mine that hav the card...it is a good card 4 the price i must admit...i also hear that it is also getting quite a bit of praise from different computer mags as well...so yeh it sounds like a good card 2 me...hope this helps...
  16. u could attach the AA case on2 the bottom of the unit and invest in some high capacity NiMH's (AA 1700mAh) from Sony...i can tell u that they last quite a bit...
  17. that's not entirely true...i bought an N10 from HK and it came with the Japanese model remote (RM-MC35ELK) and it is a dual line remote...i spose that it just depends on whether u'll b lucky enough to get a unit with the dual line remote...coz other ppl that i kno hav also bought from the same place i hav and they ended up with the RM-MC33EL remote instead of the 35ELK...
  18. you would need a LINE OUT from your md pr preferably an OPTIC OUT but if u dun hav 1 do not worry 2 much about it and a cable that can connect from your md to ur soundcard's LINE IN socket (whether it be from RCA or 3.5mm Stereo plug)...u need quite a bit of storage space if u want 2 hav them saved as wav files but it can be done on a laptop considering it has an ok soundcard and ample storage space (say 20gb free space???) but this depends on how many songs that u want 2 record...
  19. if u use a creative SB card range then u could use their basic recording program...it seems 2 get relatively good results and they'r automatically saved as wavs on ur hdd...
  20. juss make sure u hav the replacement battery b4 u change it urself...i dunno wot the part number is but i don't think sony sell them in stores yet (or do they???)
  21. yeh it does...both the batteries are the same as Guest pointed out...
  22. i would say yes u would hear a difference...but that is only my opinion...the EX70SL are indeed very very nice earbuds and i would recommend them 2 u as would any one else who hav either used them or own a pair themselves...if u don't want inner-ear type earbuds i suggest u either look @ the Sennheiser range of earbuds (MX400/500) or the one's i use which are the Sony 888sp...
  23. hmmm...that kinda sounds like that ur recording lens has stuffed up...i dunno 4 sure but it duz sound like the symptoms of wot happens when the unit fails 2 record md's nemore...ne 1 correct me if i'm wrong but this is wot i think...
  24. yes it does hav a dual line remote...just keep pressing the display button on the remote until 2 lines of text comes up...the remote model i'm using is : RM-MC35ELK...it works on that...
  25. realli??? i'v got the same burner as u and i just updated the program and i'v got imagedrive with the updated nero...
