-
yeh i agree with u ppl...HDD players are WAY 2 unpredictable and do have a chance of failing or crashing...MD is the way 2 go...but i wouldn't write off solid state devices just yet...
-

MZ-N10 Battery.....is it possible to use a better?
mAjEsTiC replied to mcampbel14's topic in Minidisc
i don't think there is a higher capacity Li-Ion battery that can be used within the N10 atm...but regarding ur other question about recharging the internal battery without fully discharging it the answer 2 that is no...Li-Ion batteries do not suffer from the "memory" effect that are inherent in some other rechargeable batteries (namely Ni-Cd)...technically it does but itz is very little that it can be totally disregarded...recharging the internal battery w/o being fully discharged 1st is ok 4 Li-Ion batteries...it does not effect the battery life... -
i would think that u would have 2 just hook up ur LINE OUT from ur MD to the LINE IN on ur soundcard and record it thru ur soundcard's recording programs as a .wav file...the onli piece of 'equipment' u need is probably a 3.5mm stereo mini plug...

glad 2 hav helped...

Minidisc Australia also allows u 2 pay without a credit card using a service in Australia called C.O.D (supplied by Australia Post and stands 4 Cash On Delivery if u didn't know) meaning that you pay for your purchase when it arrives rather than paying over the internet using a credit card...it incurs extra charges 2 use the service, but its worth it if u don't have a credit card and itz also more secure than paying over the net...
-
u can also buy them online from Minidisc Australia : http://www.minidisc.com.au/product_info.ph.../products_id/69 4 A$28...

the top Panasonic unit out in Aus is indeed the SJ-MR220...they hav not released the SJ-MR250 in Australia just yet and i don't really kno when they will either sorry...but there is a difference in the remotes included with the Australian model of the MR220 and the Japanese 1...the japanese version has a backlit LCD remote while the Aus version came with a remote with juss buttons...if u do not mind this then itz ok...a reasonable price 4 this unit will probably b around 350-400 mayb??? just a suggestion...
-
in aus u can hav an option of payment called C.O.D or Cash On Delivery...they incur extra costs but itz more convenient if u do not trust the security of the internet or do not hav a credit card...
-
that wouldn't b such a bad idea actualli...a portable unit that can read both data and audio MD's...i could probably find a few useful features 4 that...provided that they'v changed the software around 2 allow it 2 u/l n d/l w/o ne restrictions...
-
hehe...yeh i agree wif all of u ppl...itz realli amazing 2 find that MD's hav'n realli caught on all that much despite it being around 4 ages...in Aus tho @ least there is sum recognition of MD's...esp round in Sydney...mayb becoz of Azn influences but then again mayb not...tho Australia is kinda behind when it comes 2 MD technology i gotta agree with that...tho those puzzled looks do still arise from time 2 time when ppl see MD's..........

um which type of cable did u need exactly?? coz there r 3 types... - mini -> square - mini -> mini & - square -> square if u could tell me which of these u needed it would make the task a little easier...
-
i keep mine in a 3.5" floppy disc box which fits 40 floppies...it works relatively well...
-
i don't know about that sorry...i'v onli seen the status on the lcd say either BLT-IN or AC as u previously stated...i'm not 2 sure about when it says ADD-ON since i hav'n realli investigated the unit thoroughly myself as i do not own 1...
-
i would hav thought that Sony provided u with an optic cable...(they supplied 1 with my N1...) but Sony sell em from Sony Central 4 like $60 or so...if ur in Syd i could probably help you u track some cheaper prices...
-
apparently u hav 2 turn the built-in battery ON as well to use the external AA battery case...y Sony did this i hav no idea...but they may well have their own reasons...anyway i don't realli know y they would put a switch 2 turn off the built-in battery other than it 2 mayb save battery life when u don't intend 2 use the unit 4 a while??? i realli don't know...but u hav 2 use the built-in battery 2 b able 2 use the external AA pack and use the unit...

which is better for live recording? sharp DR7 or Sony N10??
mAjEsTiC replied to new orleans's topic in Live Recording
Sharp's are generally better units for live recordings as the features that each Sharp unit have, enable it to adjust recording levels on the fly while 4 Sony units, the units have to be in pause mode 4 this 2 happen.... If you are mainly going to be using the unit for live recordings and not realli care about d/l music files from your computer then i would suggest u go 4 the DR7...the N10 is a nice unit but it is not without its flaws... -
i'm afraid so...there r PC links that connect ur MD 2 ur computer but they don't do nefin about the speed...since the F70 is not a NetMD unit i don't c how u could record mp3's faster than real time...
-
hav u tried d/l the latest update 4 OpenMG 2.2??? it seems to make it more stabler and not crash as often...giv it a try...
-
yes it does add to the convenience of NetMD...NetMD conveniently allows u 2 transfer music files from computer -> MD faster than in real time...itz a time saver and mayb a huge convenience to sum ppl with a lot of mp3's and other music files on their hdd's...if u r looking @ a non-NetMD recorder mayb u could take a look @ the new Sharp DR7...
