  1. Hehehe. btw - There is a Canadian Minidisc e-tailer, appropriately dubbed "Minidisc Canada". Here's a relevant portable MD unit page: http://www.minidisc-canada.com/shopdisplay...rtable+MiniDisc It's a damn shame the DR420 costs so much in North America, but that's because of the dollar being absolutely crummy. Maybe if you tack another $17CAD on your budget you could swing the NHF800? You may just want to stick with NetMD for now, but it's really up to you. It's just not very user-friendly to upload tracks you've recorded with a NetMD machine, and I rather not see you get dissuaded by the format because of such. Take your time is all I can recommend, you'll figure out what you want.
  2. Maybe you should chill a bit and wait for Hi-MD. The recording functionality [and allowance for digital uploads via USB] and high storage space will give you the best experience with Minidisc in general, at least moreso than what we have now. If you had to buy something now, get something all encompassing. The DR420 is a good buy and is really packed with the best features that a MD unit can deliver - except the lack of LCD remote. What's your maximum budget? You put forth a jest towards me! Hah, I like ya already [i don't get jested too often :rasp:]. Oh yeah, the Sharp IM-MT880 comes in pink. It's a very keen pink at that.
  3. Welcome. Maybe you should try Sonicstage 2? I recommend SS2 because I believe things have become corrupted with your software(s). The only way to alleviate this is to completely uninstall like so: ..and then install either Sonicstage 2, or install the NetMD driver + Real again.
  4. If you don't have any luck locating it [i don't think you will], try installing the drivers that came with your unit first and then a copy of Sonicstage 2 from a relevant post in this forum. Welcome, btw.
  5. Hello there, pink. Welcome. You've chosen yourself a nice unit to begin with, and it even has NetMD functionality. Will you be downloading tracks from the computer onto the MD? If not, then maybe you should look for a non-NetMD unit so you can focus on recording. Will you want to upload your recordings to the computer? If so, you won't be able to do it through NetMD [you'd have to upload it in a 1:1 scenario, either through an analog or digital configuration - I can explain more about this later]. What color were you going to get? heh
  6. You can rip a CD at 256kbps ATRAC3plus audio with iceeedtea's build of Sonicstage 2.
  7. When you recieve your NH1 you will get Sonicstage 2.1 [which allows you to rip into DRM-protected PCM mode via Sonicstage, Fray]. Rip everything into PCM, and then I would suggest you primarily use 256kbps ATRAC3plus audio for the unit and be blissful.
  8. I'm not really sure about that, but if you read well enough over the threads in this forum [Live Recording], you'll probably find everything you need to know.
  9. Something isn't right here..I think you should uninstall the program again via the directions in the NetMD faq [registry edits and all] and install Sonicstage 2 only.
  10. Hi there, and welcome. I would like to make a recommendation for you, but what is the maximum budget?
  11. Didn't know if you were aware of the whole microphone biz, but it seems like you know what you want. I made the NF610 recommendation because I wasn't aware of your knowledge in the field [as that unit has a mic-in].. Anyway, the 510 would probably suite you well, but don't be a stranger to eBay - great deals on last generation's MD units [and etc] are popping up everyday. Welcome to the forums, btw!
  12. http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N420D.html is the place for more information on the N420D. I definitely think that it's not the unit for you. A mic recording unit, eh? What kind of microphone do you have? I would suggest you may want to get the Sony MZ-NF610 instead..but let me ask you this, what is your maximum budget?
  13. A wise man told me that you may have not restarted after the installation [or you didn't do the registry deletions when you uninstalled and installed again]. Make sure if you did do a bunch of installations/reinstallations/whatever that you uninstall EVERYTHING as prescribed in the NetMD faq and install Sonicstage 2 only. Also, if none of that applies to you, please download this file, reboot, and try again. p.s. If you're not running Windows XP, just search the site for the same file relevant to your O/S.
  14. Touching any of the buttons that would entice or require your sight will turn it on.
  15. They weren't able to tell me anything, as the unit is not out yet. I don't think you'll be able to get a straight answer as the only units people I know have tested are beta and weren't the final build. Sadly Breepee, I don't think you'll get the answer to your question until the unit is released.
  16. It is backlit; a Sony rep just confirmed it with me.
  17. Uninstall via the directions in the NetMD faq [registry edits and all] and install Sonicstage 2. If you're referring to uploading the tracks on your Minidisc player to your computer, you cannot through USB. Search for more info on that.
  18. Linux, anyone? You guys should try and get someone who has a NH600 to try this, if possible..
  19. I just got off the phone with Sony and a product specialist will have this information for me tomorrow, so you shall have that answer then.
  20. I just got off the phone with Sony and they don't even know. I will have 100% accurate answer from them within a day.
  21. Drivers will not be necessary in this situation, as it'll act as a mass storage device. USB does indeed power the transfers and doesn't draw off the battery. Learn more about the Sony Hi-MD units here: http://minidisc.org/part_Hi-MD_Sony.html
  22. Thanks for the update, I shall order mine in a day or so. Can't wait for that NH900 now!
  23. Made a very simple style change on the main index; you may have to refresh to see it. Considering condensing the forums [asthetically, not content wise] instead of having seperate tables for each group of forums..
  24. Just install iceeedtea's build, not the official updater program. Unfortunately people associate alot of posts about misfunctionality with the software being clunky. That is not the case - I believe the satisfied users of SS2 outweigh the ones who are dissatisified. It's a hella lot better than v1.5..
  25. We'll see. The more activity here the better, methinks.
