  1. When you did a full uninstall of the Sony software, you did do it accordingly with the directions in the NetMD faq, correct? I would also download Simpleburner 2.0 only [as it is stand-alone] and see what your success is. Make sure you reboot after installation!

    codec mp4

Erk, that's what I meant.
  3. Christopher

    codec mp4

I'm not sure if there is one. I know that there definitely is for music playing programs like foobar2000 and Winamp, though. The only lossy codec Sonicstage can handle at this time is PCM [wav].
  4. Busted? I don't understand..this community is no different than the T-Board. They may have more of a dedicated user base, but our new user registration [which is nearly 5-10x the T-Board] and seemingly all-MD related posts [barely any off topic] is something that is what a MD board should be, no?
  5. The other Hi-MD units are coming out in July. Read this about digital amps: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4223
  6. Nope, and honestly, whilst the N10 does have impressive astethics, I would not choose it because I know that I could get much better sound out of a lesser-priced unit.
  7. Uninstall everything according to what it says in the NetMD faq. Follow the instructions exactly how it describes. I then want you to download Sonicstage 2, which is available through links in relevant Sonicstage 2 threads. Also, please do not post a non-inquiry in the Minidisco forum, as it's for questions and such associated with their business, not your woes. That aside, welcome.
  8. Welcome, lenz. Yes, in theory that battery should work fine. I've never seen larger than a 2000mAh AA battery..very interesting. It's drag and drop like your hard-drive in "My Computer". Like "USB stickmemory" [i have one of those - pretty neat], except you must remember that Hi-MD operates on USB 1.1. Infinite. If rewriting makes the disc lossy somehow, you can always defrag and/or format, but that would take quite a bit of editing to accomplish.
  9. I'm making you a custom rank, MDfreak.
  10. skyther is actually somewhat correct. I would suggest you go here to learn more: http://www.head-fi.org/forums .
  11. Welcome, alex. I'm going to move this to NetMD.. I would suggest you download from this location: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4767 ..and burn it to disc. That's your only real option..
  12. He's the webmaster of MDcenter.nl, and was able to test the unit in question at a dealer show.
  13. Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately I can tell you didn't search much, which is okay, but I rather you give it a shot next time. Try giving this thread a read for me: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4665 I think the details within the latter pages applies to your question.
  14. I used an iPod the other day for the first time and I was absolutely amazed. I believe that each device has it's own merits and characteristics that set it apart from the other, so it's not really a matter of which is better - it's more or less if the overall functionality of the device applies to you or not.
  15. You'll need to re-rip them. Re-encoding them is a moot point because it'd make it even more lossy. 256kbps ATRAC3plus [aka Hi-SP] on a Hi-MD disc? 7h 55m. This information [and more] is available here. Hypothetically yes. I'm not so sure about the "old school" Minidiscs, as you'd probably have to convert it to Hi-MD mode. If you converted it to Hi-MD mode and converted it back to NetMD mode that would seemingly be effective as a defragment/format. Good question, and welcome to the forums. Unless I'm mistaken, no Hi-MD unit has a dedicated line out. You would have to utilize the "fake" line out mode in the unit, which essentially turns the volume up all the way without aid from the additional sound features. This is somewhat effective, but most audiophiles don't prefer it. I don't mind it, really. You could just connect the unit to the computer and connect the computer to your stereo, and utilize the line out on your soundcard [if applicable].
  16. Welcome. Could be a faulty headphone jack, but I'm not so sure. Maybe you may want to try another set of headphones to see if your assumptions are correct? Also, what is the average volume you're listening at? If it's too high you might've blown your ears.
  17. Hi, and welcome to the forums. Windows ME is a finnicky mistress, and may be the root of your woes. Nonetheless, please follow the exact uninstall directions in the NetMD faq and then install Sonicstage 2 only. Also, if there is any sort of error message, please report it. You may want to try the full version of Sonicstage 2, as iceeedtea's build [which I assume you're using] is "lite" and doesn't feature some things that are necessary for the program to run. p.s. Moving this to the NetMD forum..
  18. Depends, really. MD boomboxes in the US are quite rare, although that wasn't the case months ago when Sharp liquidated a bunch of nice bookshelf systems for a really low price. A dedicated boombox, though? There are a few here: http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?cPath=54_67 and here: http://www.audiocubes.com/index.php?cPath=54_59 Granted, those cost an arm and a leg.. What's your budget, anyways? p.s. Try your luck on eBay, too.
  19. This is all I have on the Hi-MD disc release. The main quote from the *.pdf states: It looks like the only real issue is short supply.
  20. I know one e-tailer that carries a remote that would be right up your alley: click-ems: Backlit, of course. A little pricey but definitely worth it; I used to employ this remote when I had a MZ-R700. I'm not too terribly familiar with locating such accessories in the UK, so I'll send notify our UK-based moderators and see what they have to say.
  21. Hello, and welcome. Read the NetMD FAQ found in the NetMD forum, please. Uninstall everything [even the registry edits] and then locate Sonicstage 2 and download it. It's available in the NetMD forum..
  22. Hehe, mart. Welcome to the forums..
  23. Yes, but you would have to utilize a deck/bookshelf with digital out and a soundcard with a digital in, or you could use a analog cable in a similiar scenario [non digital I/O's, of course]. Please give this a search for me and you'll see we've discussed this quite a bit in the past. Welcome, btw.
  24. Did you uninstall exactly how it prescribes in our NetMD faq? Welcome, btw.
  25. Hello there, and welcome. The forum you initally posted in, Minidisco Inquiries/Support, is for Minidisco related topics only. This is an issue with your NetMD software. Please read the NetMD faq found in the NetMD forum and uninstall exactly how it prescribes [registry edits and all]. Install Sonicstage 2 only [no 1.5, and you can download it via relevant threads in the NetMD forum] and reboot after the install. In the future, please try giving our forums a good read before asking such questions, as you could've saved yourself the wait and have done this already if you'd taken a look around.
