  1. Yes. Touching on what Stamp said, the read and write processes are far more advanced than any previous MD system. Give a good read into the FAQ's and the technical papers on the main site. In another generation or two and the battery life will be a bit more acceptable.
  2. Damn, I was hoping to get this but I'm going to put some money towards server upgrades so the forum will be faster. What a rock solid deal.. ..be sure to leave feedback for each other in the feedback subforum.
  3. I believe you can install it without having 1.5. Give it a shot, if it fails we'll have stable information for the community and I'll guide you through a full uninstallation.
  4. Yes, an analog cord will work in the headphone out jack. Make sure you plug the other end into the mic in on your unit. You'll need a male-to-male stereo cable, and it usually costs around $5.

Read this to learn more about digital amplifiers, and it may help you decide on a unit: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4223 I still suggest you look at audiocubes. You'll be surprised.
  6. Welcome. An optical cable is not compatible with the headphone out on your CD player. You would need to use an optical [aka digital] out to use your optical cable. An analog cable would work in this situation. Do you not have a computer to use for recording? You are employing a NetMD model..
  7. Glad to hear things are working out for you. Sounds like you've got a keen lifestyle..still interested in selling that 66XLP?
  8. NETONION raises a good point. It has been proven that constant use of earphone type listening devices can be detrimental to the ears, moreso than regular headphones. Nonetheless, if you do decide to employ this type of 'phone, please listen at respectable levels! Your ears will thank you later, and it'll save you a doctor's trip when you develop tinnitus.
  9. What is your exact budget for a MDLP DIN unit? I can hook you up.
  10. The more steps, the more loss in quality. What about this? http://www.plusdeck.com/english/
  11. So, tell me more about your configuration first. Is the unit plugged into the AC outlet when you're recording off the mixer? How are you recording from the mixer? Analog or digital? What kind of unit are you using? etc

  13. Try reading everything here first: http://www.sony.net/Products/ATRAC3/
  14. 1. No; the only way you can do SP is through an optical and/or digital connection, like with an Xitel DG2 or optical cable coming from a possible optical out on your soundcard. 2. No, there is no check-in restrictions for Sonicstage 2. Yes. Yes, there are a few, but remember - only a true SP recording can be done by how I described a above.
  15. ef, I will finish my 'phone summary for you tomorrow and PM you when it's done.
  16. Hello you two. I have merged this thread together since it essentially asks the same question. I have also moved it to NetMD.
  17. That must be impossible, as official representatives from Sony and e-tailers with the highest level of information priority have confirmed that this unit will not be available till July. Please correct me if I'm wrong if and when you recieve the unit, though.

I would suggest that you look into one of our featured e-tailers: Anyway, one of the key benefits of ordering from this site is that they declare the value of whatever you order as $50, which eliminates the fear of customs making the purchase cost even more. If you don't like the selection there, then I can make a few other recommendations as well. What units are common to purchase in your area? Also, have you read about Hi-MD?
  19. There is no wireless remote for a portable player, except the MZ-E7W and the MZ-E606W. It is possible though, but you would need exact information about the current eminating from the remote, and the currents that eminate from the remote when you do certain commands, then build a wireless remote and such. Tough task, I'd say..
  20. As you may or may not have noticed, I removed Minidisc Australia's and Minidisc Access' forum. It just wasn't seeing any use. Monthly news forums have been consolidated into six month blocks. Banner rotation is in, and it seems to be working well. I believe that other than optimizing issues, there really isn't too much more I need to address. I am going to build a new template for the forums soon [as an alternative], and it will be of a blue/white theme.
  21. It's shared with minidisc.org, not dedicated. Not sure on the exact specs. Most likely yes. I'm thinking it's the catagories hierarchy mod. Catagories Hierarchy mod again. The last 12 hours mod is not obtrusive. p.s. I don't think gzip is really on, either. Still trying to figure that one out.
  22. Welcome. We talked about this briefly in this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4515 ..but nonetheless, the answer remains the same. Without the portable units actually out, we have no way to determine if Hi-MD is going to be a success. If it is, then yes, we very well may see a deck.
  23. None at all. Sony and the other big brands keep their information pretty tight.. We're not so sure on the twenty groups yet. Just doesn't seem right to me.. I believe we can safely take his word, as he represents one of the largest specialty Minidisc distributors in the US. As for the pre-order status on the other sites? It's called b.s.
