There are no restrictions in Sonicstage concerning your scenario, as Sonicstage 2.1 will correct any issues in that sense [full PCM flexibility]. I would recommend that you go down that route for best functionality. What was it exactly that is not flexible in your situation? You can record in linear PCM, upload it to computer and do what you wish with it from there. Buy a ~$30 soundcard with optical out and you should be good, no?

Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread?
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
Great question, Spare. Yes, but at the higher bitrates the G-Protection/anti-shock/etc may not be as solid as we're accustomed to. There is little documentation on this, actually. What I suggest is you PM the people who have a Hi-MD unit [Damage, Ryzir, and a few others] and ask them to conduct tests and see what occurs, eh? -
Honestly, in your scenario, it seems like you may be most content with an iPod as you won't have to worry about such matters. Regardless, welcome to the forums. If you do want to go with MD [or Hi-MD], state your budget and I'll make a recommendation.

i like minidisc, but hi-md is too little, too late.

Actually, I don't recall seeing a question like this in quite a while, silly! Welcome. You can listen to the unit recording whilst recording by utilizing the headphone jack - it's as simple as that. As for a recorder recommendation, I suggest you look at the Sharp MD-DR7 Auvi 1-Bit MiniDisc Recorder [click on the link to see where you could buy it]. Reasonably priced at $239, I could see you being very content with this unit. It's a shame Apple machines don't have better functionality with MD units.. p.s. If you don't like that unit, state your budget and I'll recommend others.

No, this is a classic case of overpricing. I would advise that you not pay more than 150 canadian for this, and that's being generous.
-
You have to employ what you're currently employing; it's the limits of your unit. To achieve faster download times, you would either need a NetMD or a Hi-MD unit. Welcome, btw.

What's your favorite band/artist/group, and why?
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in The Loft
Why, dork? :rasp: -
Yes, it's a good starting unit. btw - Welcome. Have you looked over the specifics of this device in our Equipment Browser? I'll go ahead and link it for you. http://minidisc.org/part_Sony_MZ-N10.html If you have any specific questions, please ask..

Your participation is more than I could've ever asked for, and I apologize for not welcoming you! I've welcomed so many people I'm starting to lose track [i certainly didn't expect that when I first joined the team]. So..welcome!

Nice topic. I joined the forums long ago after being a continuous reader of minidisc.org, but after a while of such disarray I joined the Minidisc T-Board. I camped there for a while, and it was nice, but the potential for this forum to blossom into a nice place was too great for me to ignore. I'm not saying that the previous operation before my interactions wasn't efficient [some of the moderators who kept this place running then are really fantastic people in my mind], but it did need a change. I came back here last Feb/March and I haven't looked back.

Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread?
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
Yes, please do not post the same question five times in seperate places on the forum. Anyway, welcome aboard. p.s. Have you considered "upgrading" to a newer Hi-MD unit so you can use the Hi-MD discs and reformatted MD discs? -
True SP is 292kbps, but if you're transferring via NetMD it's actually LP2 badged as SP. Anyway, LP2 is 132kbps. All bitrates are in the Hi-MD faq, btw: http://minidisc.org/hi-md_faq.html

Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread?
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
Yes, as the only thing the Car Adapter kits needed was a headphone out - all Hi-MD units certainly have that. -
If Leland can't assist you, and in the long run you hit "dead-ends" please do consider Sonicstage 2. To check if your hard drive is full, open "My Computer" on the desktop and highlight your drives. It should list in the status bar, or the info listing on the left the capacity of the drive. If not, right click the drive and go to properties.

Seems a bit more than the $3.30 they predicted for retail stores. Hopefully the price at the site doesn't reflect the average price for everywhere else. Thanks for the heads up..

What's your budget? As you may or may not know, these types of units can cost quite a bit.

It will be a different cable for some of the units, but it seems like the NH600 uses the same cable as previous NetMD models. -
Need an instruction booklet..MZ-R700-PLEASE!!!!
Christopher replied to bassreason's topic in Software
As Majestic pointed out the manual, let me make sure you know that our site has many dimensions outside the forum. I assume you've looked at the main site, minidisc.org? Within minidisc.org is our Equipment Browser; a seemingly handy guide to all things Minidisc. Welcome, bass! -
Hello super, and welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, it seems you've posted this topic in our classifieds section. I believe you meant to post this in Hi-MD or Find your Minidisc, no? Anyway, the unit in question shouldn't be available for China until July.

Difference between iceeedtea' build and the official release
Christopher replied to technoticau's topic in Minidisc
No mods, no hacks. It's a lite version without the DirectX installer and a few other unnecessary things. I'd PM him for a direct response.. p.s. Welcome, btw. -
Why no point between Hi-SP & Hi-LP e.g Hi-MP in Atrack2p
Christopher replied to Qwakrz's topic in Minidisc
You can encode NetMD bitrates on a Hi-MD disc, AFAIK.
