Cheers mate..the drinks are much better in Ireland, though.

The forums now has two caching systems working in unison together; how seriene, eh? Regardless, it has decreased the overall number of queries and the forum seems to be running at a decent rate. I will be working on enabling gzip [which will effectively compress a page like the index, which is 49.3kb, to about 10kb. Delicious. Did I mention we're now #1 for these two google searches: This is due to some manipulations I made in the formatting. I can definitely tell that we're #1, too..our hit counts have been 2x since this occured a few days ago. I'm glad the board isn't as slow as it was..

Have a Hi-MD question that doesn't need a thread?
Christopher replied to Christopher's topic in Minidisc
Sorry I've been slack on this thread, but I've been working on making the forums faster lately.. Welcome Boyd. Looks like bunge answered most of your your question, but here's the minimum system requirements just in case: And just to confirm, bunge was correct about crazeybt1 + arias' question. -
Upgraded to Sonicstage 2 and now PC reboots every time
Christopher replied to rbracewell's topic in Minidisc
Take a look at this thread: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4786 Kinda seems to be a similiar issue.. -
Perhaps, but the number of Minidisc users who employ equipments to tell the difference between the two is much lower than those who do not. When you're arguing a lossy codec and lossless on a 5mW [or lower] output, does it really matter anyways? ATRAC3plus 256kbps is more than sufficent and in Hi-MD's case, a necessity because lossless would make the battery life horrid. Plus, with ATRAC's keen ability to preform well in a lesser density, you can store more of 256kbps ATRAC3plus audio on a disc than you could with lossless, no? The point is this: ATRAC3plus 256kbps audio will be most likely better than 292kbps ATRAC3 [sP]. This in itself is good, because I know that most Minidisc users are content with how SP preforms - and if they are content with that then something a shade better will be just as attractive. If you're a MD user your not seeking lossless, anyway..get a real DAP for christ's sake.

If Hi-SP 256kbps ATRAC3plus audio is pretty much equivalent to lossless, then is it really "crap"?

You don't need to have Sonicstage 1.5 to be installed first. Uninstall it completely via the directions found in the NetMD FAQ [registry edits and all], and then download Sonicstage 2 here: http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=4210

Sorry to hear Tiggy. Please keep us updated on the progress of things.

Upgraded to Sonicstage 2 and now PC reboots every time
Christopher replied to rbracewell's topic in Minidisc
Oh. I had something in mind for you to download that would've fixed this problem, but if you're content with 1.5 then that's ok. -
Hiya, and welcome. Rebadged still. For a true SP transfer, which is 292kbps, you would have to do it via the optical in on the unit, and through a source with optical out. SP audio is very nice, and is almost CD-like in certain aspects. It seems to me that you would be more content with Hi-MD, so I recommend you wait and get a unit like the NHF800 or the NH900.

newbie needs help with SonicStage v2 on Windows 2000 Prof
Christopher replied to origami's topic in Minidisc
A wise man told me that you may have not restarted after the installation. Also, if that is not true, please download this file, reboot, and try again. -
Actually, you might've been right! I checked around and there may be different variants of this remote, with the model names you stated. The only difference would be Kanji and etc support, I believe.

Moving this to user opinions.. My comments? Hopefully Sony will realize that this is unacceptable and correct it, but knowing Sony, I doubt that will happen. Maybe in a future build of Connect..
-
This is a good starting unit. I would suggest that you employ Sonicstage 2 or equivalent, as Sonicstage 1.5 is essentially garbage. How are you liking the unit and the functionality so far? It's hard to summarize what I should really tell you about, so why don't you throw some specific questions at us?

Christopher replied to origami's topic in Minidisc
Hiya, and welcome. This is a software issue, so I will transfer this topic to NetMD. I want you to follow the exact directions within the NetMD FAQ thread and uninstall exactly how it prescribes. After that, install Sonicstage 2 only and reboot after the installation. Write back with your progress.. -
SonicStage 2. Converting error? PLZ help Its urgent.

"You could find"? I rather you uninstall exactly how it recommends in the NetMD faq. Did you do it precisely how it stated? -

You deleted the registry entries and everything? -
There are quite a few decks with optical in and out. It's hard for us to really make a recommendation without a minimum budget. I would suggest you consult our Equipment Browser [specifically the deck portion] and gather some opinions first. Also, try scouting eBay - decks with the requirements you seek are a dime a dozen.

Welcome. This is a software issue, so this topic shall reside in the NetMD-related forums. I'm not exactly sure of what the issue is, yet, but we can start with an uninstallation first. Please refer to the NetMD faq found within the NetMD forum for directions on how to uninstall the program completely. Reinstall, reboot, and try again.

Neat, I'm glad I could help you. I'm going to go ahead and lock this thread since the issue was solved. Enjoy NetMD.

I would suggest you uninstall everything and try again. The directions to correctly uninstall this program is located in the FAQ in this forum. Welcome, btw. -
Hello Hadgu, and welcome to the forums. I have deleted the pictures out of your post because I they're not necessary to show. Perhaps you may want to link them instead next time? Anyway, the pictures of the remotes you submitted were all during the "beta" phase of Hi-MD. The final version of this remote is the RM-MC40ELK.
