  1. Sounds like you need to wait a month or two and pick up a Hi-MD unit, so you can do PCM recordings that are able to upload to your Mac. If you don't know what Hi-MD is, go to minidisc.org and follow the relevant links. Regardless, if you're not interested in that, what would your budget be?
  2. I wouldn't go with either, but if I had to pick I'd go with a N10 or N910/N920. Have you considered a newer-generation Sharp unit with digital amp? Do you require NetMD [there are other ways to get *.mp3's to MD other than this process]. Also, have you heard of Hi-MD?
  3. There was no word of the release date at CeBit. So, it's still up in the air.
  4. Possibly. I doubt it will tout the 100x transfer speeds like the rest of the recording modes, however. We shall see when the units debut..
  5. If anyone else feels this way please e-mail me at
  6. Yes, it's most likely that Japan will not see Hi-MD till Summer.
  7. Thank you, it really means alot. I'm glad you enjoy the new MDCF.
  8. http://www.minidisc.org/part_Sharp_IM-DR580+DR80.html The Sharp IM-DR80/580. It's an amazing unit.
  9. Would a lack of LCD on the unit itself bother you, leaving all operations to remote and stand? I've got a good idea..

    MZ-NHF800

There are actually three colors for the NHF800. silver/blue, blue/silver [like your first pic], and silver/silver [like your second pic].
  11. Just wanted to greet everyone on this special day, as Ireland is a big part of my heritage I just had to say something. I lived there for a significant portion of my life [the port town of Skerries, specifically] and this day was always such fun. I hope that everyone who is participating in festivities has a great time, and be safe! What's everyone's plans?
  12. Did you install the drivers and the software before you hooked the unit up to the computer? Also, if you don't have success, you may want to try uninstalling and then reinstalling properly. After that, you'd install the software/drivers again and then plug in the unit. p.s. Welcome to the forums.
  13. First off, thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately though, minidisc.org forums will never have guest posting enabled. I am not interested in "passerbys", even though most of the people who register will only post once, and then reply to any responses, and leave content. Guest posting was a problem. There wasn't any registrations, and registrations entice people to stick around and help others. I realize that guests can do the same thing, but don't you want post recognition and other things? Some of the key people who did take the time to register and help others are now moderators. I would continue, but hopefully what I've stated is sufficent. If there is any flaming going on, please report the post(s) to me or the moderators and we will take action. Ever since I disabled guest posting, there has been a many registrations and people have been content with such. This is the first time I've recieved a complaint.
  14. Looks like it's N910 or bust for you, then. It's a shame you're not inclined to try a unit with a digital amp - as it provides superior sound. I think you'll be content with a N910, regardless.
  15. The width of the current images I'm employing for ranks is probably the most appropriate. I don't want big ranks.
  16. Here are some crappy ranks and the images associated with them: 0 posts - Beginner 25 posts - Novice 50 posts - Amateur 75 posts - Competent 100 posts - Experienced 150 posts - Versed 200 posts - Well-Versed 250 posts - Specialist 400 posts - Adept 500 posts - Professional 600 posts - Virtuoso 750 posts - True Minidisc Connoisseur 900 posts - Swami 1000 posts - Maharishi Better than nothing, and I know they're not that great. I'll probably replace them later on in the year.
  17. Singaporian versions are essentially the worldwide versions and have no output cap, if that's what you're wondering. Like I asked before, what features do you want? Then I can make a suggestion.
  18. Sounds like you have two options: Get it repaired by Sony, or buy the actual part from Sony and try to install it yourself.
  19. Welcome. If I were you I'd get one of these: http://www.minidiscaccess.com/item.html?PRID=292582

  21. Not sure yet. I think we'll know tomorrow at the CeBit expo. Supposedly it's still April, but rumors have been flying that it'll be delayed till Summer. When I find out I'll tell you.
  22. Yeah, that's not bad at all. How far are you from the repair centre? When I use to own a R700 years back and it experienced issues, it took almost three weeks for them to fix the problem(s). Of course, your issue seems pretty basic so it was probably an easy fix.
  23. I agree with Rumz [thanks for coming here, btw buddy ], but I wouldn't trust the specs from Sony until the units are on the shelves. It's been one big circus with Hi-MD information, i.e. websites being up, then mysteriously disappearing, conflicting specs, etc.
  24. That's a nice head-unit! If you don't mind me asking, how much did it run you? It's got a ton of features.. Be sure to write back with your impressions of the unit for future reference!
