Good day, My name is Christopher MacManus, and I've been chosen by Eric [webmaster] to join the administrative team. Some of you may know me as moltar from the Minidisc T-Board, or my photo contributions to minidisc.org. Nonetheless, I am here to organize things a bit and make this forum a quality experience [not saying it wasn't before, of course ]. Please register with us if you haven't, too! I have made a few changes already in terms of structure; the current month and the month prior will reside on the top, and older news posts [for now] will reside at the bottom. I will look into creating a bin for all of them so they aren't all visible. Posting in the news forums is now limited to moderators only, as there are far too many posts dealing with other topics that should be in a relevant subforum. I'm going to make posting a little bit more focused and make sure that we all get into the habit of posting in the relevant forum. This is very important, so please comply. Members may not post "sticky" topics anymore, but moderators can always grant that privledge if they believe it is worthy of such. Also, signatures have been increased to 1000 characters - we will not allow massive sigs, though [huge pictures, huge text, etc]; try and use this efficently. I will also be introducing some sort of ranking system soon, and I am entertaining suggestions [PM me]. Maximum avatar file size has been bumped up to 17.5 kb. I have more in mind for this place, hopefully giving it a better status than before. I believe that dedicated forum'ers [and visitors too ] deserve an organized + nice place to discuss this wonderful technology that has brought us together. I'll respond to this post when I make further changes, and please PM me with any questions, comments, etc. Cheers! p.s. - There will be a change in the structure of our moderators. Despite my lack of posting in the past, I have read many posts and know who's been deserving of such responsibility. More on this later.

Too early to tell, but if the format does well then I have no doubts that a serious deck will come steadfast. Just have to wait and see!

I have a Nikon CoolPix 5700 Pro. Best digital camera I've ever used, and I'm speaking with a good range of experience. I'm sure some of the newer offerings are better, but this thing does more than I could ever fully use. Nikon is top quality all around, methinks.

You can use SonicStage or Simpleburner with Sharp NetMD devices.

It's all running fine now. My girl said amazon was experiencing the same error. Odd..

Yeah, been down for a while. Can't wait for it to come back up so I can post my Kenwood DMC-S55 review. What a unit!

Tsunami: That is impossible and would require a MD data drive and MD data disks. olujosh: If you want to upload your tracks digitally, you will need a deck with a digital out and a soundcard with a digital in. These decks and soundcards can be found inexpensively on eBay and some retailers. Research on minidisc.org's equipment browser will help you if you venture down this route. Other than that, there is no easier way through your S1 than the method you are currently employing.

Yes, but we must also consider how many units were produced and how many of these isolated incidents exist. Who knows, and it's not as if all products that are released by anyone are guarenteed to work fully. Everything has it's faults. Everyone should kiss majestic's feet for babysitting this forum, by the way. Just a thought.

In what sense? Uploading from your MD to PC? If you want to upload from your MD, then consider purchasing a home deck with a optical out. Granted, you would need a device with an optical in [i.e. soundcard], but it would give you a true digital copy of whatever is on the MD. Decks like these can be found for quite little on eBay, and soundcards with an optical in for even less. If you don't like that, then you can consider analog uploading, which isn't bad [if you have the settings correct] but is downplayed because it's not digital. Other than that, be a little more specific and then we can help you better.

You didn't try a hack on it, right? Also, try a different battery. I doubt it could be related, but it's worth a shot. About you're sentiments of not having it repaired or replaced, then it's straight to the bin, because from what you're stating it sounds like it may possibly need a repair. If you're under warranty, then I don't understand what the issue could be. If you're NOT under you're warranty, then you can either have it repaired through Sony or you can start considerations for another unit. Sorry about your luck, but did any thing happen [that sticks out in your mind] to the unit before these errors occured?
-
First off, try a different battery and make sure whatever battery you're employing is somewhat full. If that doesn't do anything, it sounds like you're unit is on it's last rights and you can either have it repaired, or buy another. Sorry bud! ;D

I posted this in another topic, but it's still somewhat relevant. The N10 does not have numerous problems with PC-related issues. Most likely whatever issue Berky read about was isolated and due to faulty software installation. I have not heard of any consistant N10 hardware-related issues. The internal battery is no different than any other HD-type device [i.e. iPod] and is susceptible to failure after long-term use. I believe Sony has flexible pricing options available for replacement [and I think you can even do it yourself], but if you want to avoid that just get the 910. Try completely uninstalling the software and reinstalling it. If that doesn't work, I can provide you links to alternate programs that you can use for download to your MD.

There is no faster transfer method than 1:1 realtime for a MZ-R70, and there are no firmware upgrades, either.
-
Can't happen, because it's beyond the limitations of the hardware inside the device. You have to make sure you research what you're buying before you buy it so you know exactly what you're getting. I see alot of people referring to the 410 as a horrid device, and the only reason people are dissatisfied is people buy blindly!
-
Gotta do your homework first before you buy anything these days, friend.
-
That's not exactly the easiest of processes, do you have the ability and the part to do so?
-
I never really hear too many complaints of the R900's 5mW headphone amp. Assuming you've cranked it all the way up, you may want to consider a headphone amp or a unit with more mW.
-
I've heard that this is quite common with some N707's. If you have to put pressure for it to work that should give you a good indication that something's up. I would suggest Sony's repair facility if it's still under warranty.

Hello all, sorry for my absence from this thread, been busy at the T-Board. Have you played it yet? I saw a couple of screenshots from a few games and they didn't look too bad. I'd have to play it, though.. And who wants that thing when the new Playstation Portable will come out next year? That will be the hand-held gaming system of all time.
