Unless your MZ-R700 came with an Xitel digital PClink...did it?
-
Honestly Adam, Your best bet would be to get a Sharp DR-7 [which i recommend for recording], a Sony deck with optical out and a sound card with optical in. The Sharp DR-7 is around $240, the Sony deck would be around $175-200, a pair of eggo's perhaps [i'm thinking MDR-D66's] = $80-100, and the sound card with optical in could be anywhere from $50-100 [unless you already have one]. If that setup sounds right for you I can help you find the relevant links for you to purchase this equipment. I'm not too knowledgeable about microphones, but if you buy everything that I've mentioned you'd still have a bit for one. Hope this could help. k

If it wasn't difficult don't you think it would've been done by now? One day, perhaps. Know anyone who knows anything about USB/eeprom stuff? k

It's insulting when people from the T-Station act differently here.

Well, I could delve into the whole digitial vs. analog arguement, but I'll save you the effort right now and tell you that the DG2 is worth it. k

I have a '700 and I've played with a couple of '707's in my day and there's really not much of a difference. The '707 has NetMD, which is great if you're on the go..but that's about it. If I were you, I'd get a Sharp DR-7 for live recording. Of course, they are costly. To answer your question..just go with the '707, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Sony units haven't been known for their sound quality as of late. If you're a serious audiophile, then I would consider the Sharp DR-7 or the DS8 player. I've heard nothing but good comments about Sharp's 1-bit Auvi line. k

Mz-n10,Mz-n910 or ? I want a rock solid player that'll last
Christopher replied to a topic in Minidisc
Noway! Get the 910. Seriously. k -
Honestly, people can tell you how to record (tips and tricks, etc), but I think that it's an art that you must learn by yourself. Sounds like you'll have plenty of time to get things straight. Just practice.

You can hook up your MD to your PS2 with an optical cable. k
-
Did you apply the '700 hack?
-
Yes, your '700 model can record digitally if it has a digital IN, and it should.. I believe that Creative! Soundblaster 5.1 card optical out only works for the Creative! digital speaker line. Anyway, all you need is an Xitel DG-2. They cost about 20 - 30 bucks and you can get one off eBay or whatnot. k
-
It is possible to record LP2 and LP4 on the same disc. k
-
It doesn't matter, but you should probably just do the hack before.
-
I think so. Too lazy to check. All I know is that the remote I have works very well with the '700, and I'm sure the remote for the '900 will probably work just as well. Cheers.

I don't understand your question. :?
-
Your DR7 died? I'd flip. How'd it happen? k
-
Yes. I use the RM-MC12ELK with my hacked '700 every day. Works quite well. muhahah k

Hm. After looking at the specs.. The Sharp has a 5mW output, compared to the 3.5mW output of the Panasonic. The Panasonic has much longer battery life than the Sharp. The Panasonic weighs less than the Sharp. The Panasonic has a charging stand that has speakers and a titling buttons, and the Sharp just has a charging stand. If the Panasonic had a 5mW output I'd be all for it, but 3.5mW.. I can't tell you what to do but hopefully this will help. k

Hey all, I had a rather near-death expierence the other day with my MZ-R700. I had alot of friends over, and with that, booze and etc. So, my friends are "freestyling" and I decided to bring out my 700 to record it. After the session, my friend stamps out his cigarette on my recorder!! I just sat there and stared at it for a long while, and he must've said "sorry" nearly one hundred times. I picked it up and there wasn't even a scratch! He put it out right next to the "end search". He told me that he thought it was an ashtray. Damn booze! I couldn't believe my luck. Go Sony! k

Ecm 907 for a Dr7 (someone: comment something please...)
Christopher replied to a topic in Live Recording
I'm commenting, but I don't know anything about what your asking. I did comment, however. :0 good luck.. k -
I think it's absolutely absurd that Sony decided no AC plug-in on the 410. How lame. k

I agree with Zig, the 910 is keen. I would suggest the color orange. k
