Breaking News: Prototype Hi-MD Unit(s) Displayed @ CES
Fat Tires replied to Christopher's topic in News
Chris, I know that YOU know all about that review. There are several nuggets of good info in that thread though. Now as for the DRM wrapper, I don't think that it'd be much of an issue to any legitimate user if they have one PC. For people who are used to copying MP3s to a device and then copying them to a second PC there may be an issue of concern. -
Breaking News: Prototype Hi-MD Unit(s) Displayed @ CES

Sant430, There's a review at Head-Fi on the NW-HD3 with all the necessary info to answer your question. There's more useful info in the thread, so grab a Coke and a snack and get ready for a long read. http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=96770 -
Breaking News: Prototype Hi-MD Unit(s) Displayed @ CES
Fat Tires replied to Christopher's topic in News
If they wrap MP3s in DRM on the NW-HD3 (and they do) then they'll do the same on Hi-MD. -
FWIW, my D-NE900 CD Walkman does have MP3 silkscreened on it's lid. Sony isn't "hiding" the fact that it will playback MP3 files.
-
Supposedly, the MX series earbuds are available from Circuit City.
-
Wasn't Moodlogic a free download when Sonicstage 1.5 was available?
-
This topic should be in the Classifieds forum.

The iPod Shuffle can also play albums in order. I dunno about playlists though. Apple should've put a cheap LCD on the thing. I'm sure they could've asked Sony where to find them., Sony certainly seems to know where they are. I was entralled with the Mac Mini until I priced it out With WiFi for networking, Bluetooth for the wireless KB and mouse, the faster CPU, bigger HD (80gb is still small by today's standards), and more RAM, that thing is too expensive. I'll build a Shuttle thank you very much.
-
I forgot that they offered that. Thanks.

I don't have a lot of field recording experience so I can't offer you a suggestion. I am curious as to where you can order a DR77 from on Thursday and have it delivered by Saturday or Sunday.

Aeriyn Has Resigned From The Moderating Team.

We might be able to save her if the Head-Fiers (and Skyther) don't keep her brainwashed. -
Well, that's awesome Chris. Getting your education completed will be a big step towards getting you where you will want to be in life. Are you going to GA alone, or is your girl going with you? I wish you all the best on this new endeavor.

Well, I appreciate aeriyn's depth of knowledge on many issues in regards to phones and amps. I will also like the fact that we have no anti-MD mods anymore. It's certainly the beginning of a new chapter here at the MDCF. -
Don't forget that battery life is better with ATRAC3Plus too.
-
Nope, the iTrip is only for iPods. There are several FM transmitter out there though that can be used with a minidisc unit.
-
MP3 only? no way. I want to see, and have to believe that Sony would follow suit with their current release of players that do both ATRAC3Plus and MP3 as well. That would offer us all the chance to keep using our converted media without going to the trouble of reencoding everything.
-
Each of us hears differently. I'd suggest listening to both units if a store near you has them on display. Bring a SP disc of your own music to listen to so you'll be familiar with the tracks played on the units. If you wait about three weeks, I'll be able to compare a friend's NH900 my DR480 and give you my feedback.

It's a valid question drdrtsai. A line out should offer perfect unadulterated sound to whatever stereo amp you conenct it to. The benefit is that you wouldn't have "colored" sound coming out of a portable MD unit's headphone out. The truth is, to most people, the difference isn't worth worrying about. Besides, the last MD unit from Sony to include a real line output was the MZ-R50. The MZ-NH900 and MZ-NH1 both have a menu option that enables you to have a "psuedo" line out through the existing headphone jack. It basically turns off all EQ options and pump the volume up to the max. Unless you are an audiophile who has nicer equipment, you really won't miss a true line out port.
-
Huzzah! Sony has finally released ATRAC3Plus car decks.
-
The NF520D is a USB download only unit. It does not have a line in jack.

Oh, Firefox of course. I use "ctrl +" to make it readable.

Why two forums: T-board and minidisc.org?

When you use AIM or MSN messenger I think, you can basically have an avatar that your IM buddies can see. AOL calls it a Buddy Icon. -
I like the clean look of the new skin. It's classy and understated. As you pointed out elsewhere though, the font is a little small.
