  1. you can add a "file path" column and sort by that... it should solve the problem just right-click on the columns to add one.
  2. Nice unit. Appears to have been well kept and will be a brilliant addition to someones collection.
  3. Try contacting Sony... The audio files are encrypted (unlike legacy MD) and Sony have been the only ones able to recover deleted Hi-MD audio in some circumstances.
  4. I've never really been one to use remotes with my units, so I am offering them to the community. I would prefer some kind of trade for the backlit remotes (I'm into all sorts of electronics, new and old, and many other things... humor me): RM-MC40ELK RM-MC11EL I have some older (or non-backlit) remotes that I would gladly ship to anyone for free (provided they cover postage that is): RM-MC60 (very basic remote, no display) RM-MC37LT (an older NetMD radio remote... no idea if this one works, shows some pretty moderate signs of use) An even older radio remote, with broken clip... no model number on it (will post pics if wanted), again no idea if it is functional. Thanks.
  5. Won't there be issues with 48HHz vs 44.1KHz? Or am I mistaken...?
  6. one thing i have done is add a minuscule amount of silence at the beginning of one of the channels, pushing the entire thing forward... similar a bit to what guitarfxer mentioned, bit in only shifts the one track forward completely by a small small amount.
  7. Apple has it's own lossless codec; "ALAC" aka "Apple Lossless Audio Codec"... You should be able to set it as default ripping codec in iTunes and rip yr CDs losslessly. I prefer FLAC myself, but ALAC may be easier for your setup.
  8. Numerous people here have experienced problems using 4.3 on operating systems other than Vista... And numerous people have had no problems at all with the same setup.. Worth a shot IMO. Try 4.2 http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17769
  9. You could try cleaning the battery terminal contacts inside the unit itself, sometimes that helps... Also, you might be able to get a "sidecar" external AA-Battery adapter to use with the unit, good to have regardless but in this case it would be a worst-case scenario.
  10. Use the power adapter to be extra sure, that would be my advice... These units only ever turn themselves off if they've reached the end of the disc or are nearing the end of their battery power (they are programmed to stop beforehand to be sure they have the battery power to write the TOC/System File)... The only other reason would be that there is something wrong with the unit itself. Not sure if excess vibration would cause an issue like this or not (usually it just results in skippy recordings).
  11. Eek, I used to have this unit (great unit!), but have to say I've never seen that message... Good luck though! A good first step would be leaving the unit unplugged from power for a few days and see if it resets anything.
  12. What operating system are you using? ...Some people have had similar (and worse) problems running 4.3 on XP. It was mainly designed for Vista and offers no additional features above 4.2 If yr on XP, download and install 4.2: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=17769 Be sure to uninstall 4.3 as best you can before installing 4.2 Let us know! And welcome to the forums!
  13. heck of a way to get into service mode! sheesh! impressive!
  14. that is exactly what I do greenmachine... as long as I can install some version of SonicStage to get the oma's to WAV I'm content with it as a backup method. I have at least 2 years worth of material stored as DRM-free oma files.
  15. The RH-1 is the only model that will upload NetMD or legacy recordings. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=7070 You'll have to do realtime otherwise, MarC's Hi-MDrenderer has a nice MD recording function that helps streamline the process: http://www.marcnetsystem.co.uk/
  16. sounds cool... why the heck would they not include hi-md support though? doesn't really make sense... I mean i know it never caught on as much as legacy, but come on.. seeing what else it has make it odd that this would be absent.
  17. wow that looks almost identical to the behringer mixer i got recently... odd. http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showt...st&p=135366
  18. BTW, here is the thread pertaining to the ribbon cable repair, if that does seem to be the problem: http://forums.minidisc.org/index.php?showtopic=4712
  19. The ribbon cable is a (very) small ribbon-shaped connector inside the unit itself... It connects the record/overwrite magneto head to the main board. It is ribbon shaped to provide flexibility as it needs to be able to move. The USB cable could very well be the culprit, fortunately they are a standard size (Mini- so you should be able to find one just about anywhere that sells USB cables.
  20. Can you record via line and/or mic-in? If so, then it's a software issue (something with SonicStage and/or drivers), if the same thing happens, it's an issue with hardware (ribbon cable / recording head). Edit if it's hardware, 99% of the time it's the actual ribbon cable, so a cleaning disc won't help (I'm not reven sure if those clean the recording heads anyway). There is a thread around here somewhere detailing how to repair the ribbon cable... I'll see if I can find it.
  21. i love finds like those... you lucky dog.. have fun tinkering!
  22. Very odd list any way you look at it. haha.
  23. well it definitely sounds like either an issue with the windows mixer or audacity... for some reason audacity isn't getting the signal. seeing as you can hear the music, my feeling is that it is something in audacity. i haven't used audacity in ages, but perhaps someone here can point you in the right direction as far as selecting the correct audio input in audacity's preferences.
  24. does audacity show a waveform while it's recording / or when the recording is finished?
