http://minidisc.org/manuals/sony/sony_mzn1_manual.pdf Here's a link to the manual, should help. You can also try cleaning the battery terminals, make sure they are shiny. Good luck, Bob

Maybe that's why I couldn't hear nething after the third one, will try l8r with the update, Bob

You have truly used the "source" Ray, have fun with the new remote. Does it have the reversible clip so you can use it "both" ways?? TTFN Bob
-
I only heard up to the third one through my not so great puter speakers, will have to dig up some decent phones and see what rips, between perforated eardrums, occupational hearing loss etc I know mine isn't great, but I can still hear what sounds good Bob

Are you trying to record SP on a HI-MD disc? I gather you want to record something for playability on a legacy unit, for that you need a 60, 74, or 80 minute disc, and have to set the options through sonicstage, ( at least on my NH1 or 600), if you are trying something else, let us know Take care Bob

didja take a picture, love flying cats, supercat anyone???!!! Bob

I agree with bighmw about the plusses of md especially Hi-MD, with reasonable compression even on an 80 minute disc you can put on more music than you can listen to at a single sitting. If you lose that one disc, you still habe more to replace it, if you lose the HD on your puddle or anything else, all is gone. Md's also have the advantage that every one doesn't have one, so you are not a sheep blindly following the advertising God. And as this is primarily a MDF forum, you will get more yeas than nays about advantages. As to the purported issues on sound qualitity of MP#'s on mD, it's mostly subjective, and most people over equalize anyways. My vote, get an RH1 or M200, you'll be amazed Bob

We did hit 59,000 today, let's have the newbies do a hello, it is good to grow, welcome all Bob

I'm wondering if we are talking about the same person, again for the 600 I bought off him all was painless, on my treatment I would recommend dealing with him, but you develop a feeling, he was courteous on e-mails, and on follow ups. As to him being off the forum, that I do not know Bob

why does teaching have to be boring;; why not make it into a (Rayzray Listening/watching Party)..!! I can't think that anything you do would even come close to resembling boring!!! and I mean that in a good way. Why be normal as another good friend of mine used to say? Take care, Bob

Skindiver by Nona Hendryx (from Labelle) sounds nothing like Labelle, sort of a cross betweel Tangerine Dream and soul, good listen Bob
-
It always the enthusiasts that make the best pitches for the product though, if it wasn't for vocal enthusiasts there would probably not have been an RH1, hopefully Sony (or someone else, will still have a surprise or two for us Bob

Happy birthday DaikenTana, hope you still come here once in a while TTFN Bob

Most suitable portable MD for vocal recording/podcasting
bobt replied to michaelmcg's topic in Minidisc
With the RH1 as with any of the newer generation MD's you have a few options, if you just want to get a CD onto MD you can use simpleburner to directly put the music to MD without copying the disc to your puter. You can also use sonicstage if you have other music on your puter that you want on MD. As well if your mD has line in/mic you can use line in for real time recording of a mixing board, or a preamp if you want to record a cassette or LP, or use the Mic if you want a live recording HTH Bob -
Hi There, What unit do you have? I saw in an earlier post a MZ N430D, is that right? I couldn't find that in the equipement browser, are those the right numbers. The thing to make sure, is, does it have a USB port to act as a Net MD, or does it only have line in or optical. Good luck, Bob

A day or two until 59,000, wow we just keep getting bigger and better, Bob

Why not e-mail minidisco and let them know what happened, as a supporter of the medium they may comp you a discount. That's what I would do if I were me. Bob

back in the day I had a small Lloyds portable reel to reel, 3 1/2 inch reels, could get 90 minutes onto a reel. Amazingly enough my NH1 is about 3 1/2 inches per side, and can get from about 90 minutes on up. plus ca change I also had a portable Uher recorder (portable because it had a handle) weighed about 30 pounds. You could also do sound on sound, sound with sound, overdubbing etc right on the deck, loved that unit Bob Gosh, it's amazing, this has never been discussed here before. Always a first time for a unique question!!! Bob

Sound is subjective, depends on phones and a lot of other things. From what people on the forum have said it is a good "sounding" unit. If you want MEGA VOLUME and MEGA BASS you may need something else, if you want accuracy and fidelity, get the RH1/M200 Have fun Bob

For the gentleman looking for a case, go to a camera store, try a Kipling bag, they come in all shapes and sizes, go to flea markets, go to phone stores, some cell phone cases are large enough for a MD player. Just be peaceful and enjoy Bob
