  1. I would try 4.3 and see what happens, you can also try the atraclife forum as they deal more with the non mD models. Good luck, Bob
  2. Not sure what a "flambeur" is, but with Bob in it, it's got to be good, will have to see if I can find this. Bob
  3. I guess I'm "old school" enough that I don't mind taking 2 seconds to put another disc in if I want Laibach instead of Procol Harum. The dropping comes from acquaintances who've had their pods fail for no apparent reason, build million some are bound to fail. If my "needs" were different maybe I'd sing a different tune, but I do know it won't be an I-Pod, , the just don't cut it for me aesthecically, funcionally, or anything else. JMHO Bob
  4. same argument on the Classic, how many drops is it going to take to shatter that small hard drive? For me I never need more than two or three hours at any go, why do I want thousands of songs? I guess thats we have choices, so far mine is MD Bob
  5. Listening to the new KMFDM tohovabohu, had no idea these guys were still around,, great stuff Bob
  6. I believe the RH1 will save your defaults Bob
  7. Possibly the service manual (available as a download) may have proper settings, as well, there may be a master reset. This just proves, don't mess with something that isn't broken. If you can't get it back to where you want, take it to Sony repair cenre, tell them what you've done, and hope they can get it back. And then, don't mess with it Good luck Bob
  8. Welcome aboard Frank, learning is what it's all about Bob
  9. look pretty nice, any experience with Shure phones? Bob
  10. bottom line here is that we are predominately MD'philes, most of whats here is MD, nice to know of alternatives, but we like our MD's, maybe this thread would have been better served in Atraclife, hopefully all can step back see the positives, and regroup with positive reinforcement. There have been treads of alternate recorders, always will be, no one device is perfect. And has been said, you get what you pay for, that almost killed Hyundai in the 80's when they pitched there $8,000 car against $20,000 cars, and got soundly trashed, they've regrouped and make a fine product. Let's respect each other Bob
  11. congrats on the purchase, keep us informed how the MD trail goes for you Bob
  12. It would hardly be an "MD" player then, might as well go flash. A while back there was a suggestion to have an SD slot as well as MD, that would be interesting, but for me give me something midway between the RH1 and MZ1m with optical in and out, decent sized buttons and guages, then I'de really be happy Little off topic though, sorry Bob
  13. Hi Nate, Do you know fur sure that the battery is the problem, could be a faulty a/c adapter to charger it. If I were me I would try to charge it forst to see what it does. Bob
  14. You should be able to turn the beeping off by going into menu and settings, Good luck, Bob
  15. Amen to that TC, couldn't have said it better myself, Bob. and to you skip, please stay with us, it's nice to have knowledgeable members, and to all, wise words of wisdom, keep an open mind and closed bowels, and you will succeed
  16. Hi Skip, been observing the conversation, H2 looks like it fits you, but you do deserve the chance to try an RH1 with a 1 gig MD, may change your mind slightly. Any of the of the Hi-MD's with a mic input will probably do you well, and they are small, media is cheap, and not that big. Again H2 looks like it has some nice poins to it, but there are alternatives. Thanks for your insights Bob
  17. nice looking unit, interesting to see units shrink, Take care, Bob
  18. AFAIK the remote is the only difference between the two, so I think you're safe in getting the remote and having non-MD tunes available Happy trails Bob
  19. You could almost buy another with the "savings", then what possibilities, way to go Bob
  20. at $75.00 I'de snap iit so fast you'de hear the thunderclap, good deal. Happy MD'ing Bob
  21. Sony and others still make DAT tapes and cassettes, so media may still be available, just not as plentyful as we would like it. Bob and yes Chrisg, sounds like you got a pretty good deal, try pro-tape for bulk prices, seemed OK a while ago, just didn't seem that interested on shipping em out of the USA Bob
  22. Sharp looking unit, looks like battery can be replaces by taking the back cover off, not quite rocket surgery, hopefully it comes with the 3mm adapter, or you may need special phones. You could also look at the EH1, not as thin, but plenty good looking. Good luck Bob
  23. Hopefully I'll get a chance on a ;azy Sunday morning, hopelessly busy day today, relapsing a bit, listening to a variety of Rational Youth and Laibach, ever heard their take on "Let It Be"?, best version of Across the Universe, bar none, rest of the album, veddy interestink Bob
