Hi There and welcome, your best bet may be to pm guitarfixr, or follow a few threads. If all you need it for is 6 hours, you may be better off renting a unit of some sort from an audio shop or musicians supply house. If you want to go a little farther MD still has some life left in it. elsewhere in the forums you will also see some tests on the new zoom recorder. Personally if I didn't have anything I would go after the800, if I really wanted to go forst rate I would go the RH1. Hope I helped a bit, take care, Bob

Thanks, I feel good about it Bob

Was just thinking today (I know it's dangerous, but I do it once in a while), that going by your nom de plume, that you may be in Las Vegas, if so, too bad you didn't post 3 weeks ago, I could have hooked up my NH1 and shown you what it does, if you're not from Las Vegas then I'm just ranting TTFN Bob

Just really seen the pictures, size wize how does it compare with the RH1? With external mic's is it easy to stealth record with it?? Looks sharp, Bob -
Just dl'ed Shine on Brightly, by Procol Harum, extra tracks version, fond memories going back a long time ('68) on this one, good listen, got it paired with TD on MD

Didn't actuall buy, but helped a friend move today, saw a Sony CD player and some speakers, she didn't want to take them, said the CD player didn'e work. Took em to the shop, hhoked it up, connecting cable was knackered. Cd player is an old Sony CDP X339ES, Plays CD's my other player won't touch, weighs about 25 pounds, don't make em like that any more. Speakers are Powered Fishers,, STA 226 L, not a bad sounding speaker, beats the little puter speakers I was using, now to find my cord to use MD's on it, I do like days like this Bob

The RH1 is walkman, but with the RM403lk remote, and it's OLES on the side make it easy to see and adjust levels, and bonus, you can put it in your purse on the way home and listen to what you did. Onkyo make a Hi-MD deck, look in equipment reviews here on the forum, you would have to get it out of Japan though. If I were me I'd go with the RH1, but the 5 and 50 are neet looking units. Have fun on your quest! Bob

for an all metal unit you can try going for the NH1, or for playback, the EH1, looks about a sharp as you can get. Hard to tell how long they last, till they quit i suppose, have two NH1's that have seen a lot of service, still ticking, have an N-707, with the dreaded recording cable problem, I don't think I'd worry too much about the magnetics, EMF may be a problem, but my Mig welder hasn't killet my units yey. Welcome, Bob

doncha just hate it when that happens?? Is there a possibility that maybe a wiring harness came loose, not musch work to get them apart a bit and see, just need smallscrewdiver. Good luck Bob
-
Some of the early Sony's had a problem with the ribbon cable that goes to the record head, not an insurmountable problem to fix, but unless you are relatively sh=killed with working on small wires in confined places it would be best to try taking it to an audio shoppe. Are there any Aiwa service centres where you live? That's where I'de start if I were me. Good luck, Bob

Just finished listening to Madcaps Flaming Duty by Tangerine Dream, their tribute album to Syd Barett,(RIP), this could be the best Pink Floyd album they never made, wow it is good Bob

Like your reasoning, but have you thought of Hi-MD, the advantages of direct uploads, rather than real time are worth extra, the NH 700 can be bought relatively cheap, NH1's are actually going quite reasonable as well, and then there's the RH1 which would exemplify your gorgeousness (Is that a word??), good luck with whatever you can get, any examples of your singing around?? Take care, Bob

It's another MD etc forum, you can reach it from the minidisc.org page, Good luck, Bob

Did you get one, or were you able to fix or reset your unit? Glad it's working, Bob

http://protape.stores.yahoo.net/audio-tape-minidisc.html Give these guys a try. or try bidding on recorded MD's, you can get them cheap and reuse them Bob

Heresy? - should we extend these forums to new MD-like formats?

To me that seems to be taken care of at Atraclife an tstation, and from what I see members freely go to all JMHO Bob -
"ALL the area "Regional" electronic servicemen get thier supplies there;; there is always one to ask a question to;; i even think they have stuff i don't know what it's for;; perhaps a door or more.." Would that be the famous door three, as in whats behind?? Went to the site, same frustrations, but looks like it would be a hard store to come away with empt handed, reminds me of the army surplus stores when I was a kid. Bob
-
AFAIK you've asked the question before, it's in here, best answer, try it and see Bob
-
I agree, it would save a lot of question answering Bob

sweet ride, and nice collection, Happy Trails Bob

Did you try another disc, or reseting the unit, or seeing if SS would recognize the disc?? I always use reformatting as the last option, there are usually workarounds, hope you can remake your disc Bob
