  1. I was just about to reformat one of my old LP2 albums (recorded with a Hi-Fi CD player & Sharp MD-MT88H via optical input), but on the NH700 is sounds pretty darn good as it is. Obviously reformatting the disc to Hi-MD would allow additional capacity, but I'm just wondering if the quality of Sonicstage 3.0 would be as good (or better) than old school LP2 recorded optically.

    Gen2 In The Uk

Hi, Not seen many shops advertising the 2nd gen recorders in the UK, and the Sony site only lists the last batch of Hi-MD recorders and the old MZ-N520 NetMD unit with no mention whatsoever about the new units. Any official release date confirmed yet? Cheers.
  3. I too am thinking about buying an NH1 cheap from Amazon. Was going to get the NH900 but ........GONE! Even the NHF800 as I haven't had an MD player with a radio since the MZ-F40, but thats gone as well. I currently have the NH700, and I have done most of my recording via USB and Simple Burner (hate SonicSuck!). That however would change if Sony made a decent Hi-Fi deck... NH700 to MZNH1 for just over £100, worth it or wait for RH10?
  4. IF this firmware update malarky is true (still find it hard to believe - it is Sony afterall) then I will shelve my plans to get the RH10 and just buy a NH900 while they're cheap! Bwh! Ha! Ha!

    Amazon.co.uk

NH-900 on Amazon for £69.99 ($130USD)- thats NEW, not from the Amazon market place thingie and including shipping! Should I upgrade from my NH700 or wait for the 2nd gen to hit UK stores?
  6. Never been sold separately? Funny, cos literally yesterday in Sheffield (UK) Maplin's they were selling packs of 10 MD cases for £1.19.

    Nh1 Vs. Nh900

Loose the cans Nice pair of Sennheisers...
  8. It MUST be a better or equivilant Digi amp that is used in the NH900/NH1, yer go forwards not backwards in evolution.....oh wait, this is SONY we're talking about.... I have considered buying a NH900 myself when prices drop, but if older units are not compatible with the features of the 2nd gen I will probably buy a RH10.

    3rd Gen

A flamin' Hi-Fi deck! With the ability to record in all bitrates as well as the standard 'Hi-SP/LP' etc. so I don't have to touch that cr@ppy software ever again.
  10. So it's confirmed that it will run off AA's? Sweeeet!

    Sonicpants

Tried to fire up Sonic Stage today (think it's version 2.3) and just get the Error message "Omgjbox, This program has performed an Illegal opperation and will be shut down." WHY?? Looks like I've lost all my albums as well (*Insert colourful language here*)
  12. I would love it if Sony made a Hi-MD portable with a DAB turner. They have made a portable DAB radio for around £100, so heres hoping....
  13. Recording live concerts is naughty and usually violates copyright - BAD! On a serious note, thats a bit of a bugger that your recording got trashed. I've always regarded MD as a nearly bullet-proof format for recording, be a swine if Hi-MD doesn't maintain this durability.
  14. We's seen that OLED we has precious, and we wants it!
  15. I run a Windows 98SE & XP Professional DUAL-BOOT machine! (Ooooo, it says nasty things about dual boot's in the system requirements) Works fine (CDDB does annoy me sometimes). Most errors are caused by me, not mi software.
  16. Why couldn't Sony use a better bitrate for Hi-LP? Maybe Atrac3+ @ 128kbps?

    1gb Discs - Uk

Yes I spotted that swine before I made my purchase. Thought "£1.99?!" bunged 5 into the cart, went to check out.....£35!!! Swiftly hit the 'back' button and 'remove from cart'! Then placed a PROPER order from the normal Amazon shop. I've got over 220 tracks on each of them in LP2 mode...SWEET! iPlod my bottom!
  19. I use a large hammer. Gives the PC case a Modern Art look...
  20. I have had problems with "copy protected" CDs on my home deck (MDS-JB920). Body Language - Kylie, refused to record via digital, so had to record it through analogue inputs (you won't stop me you damned record companies!!! ). Used simple burner for Hi-SP mode on same album and it worked fine. A Speedway album gave a message "This disc needs aditional software to play some tracks" with a prompt to install when inserted into CD-ROM drive. Ignored it and transfered it with Simple burner to MD and it's fine. Strange... Record companies = evil.
  21. Totally agree! I'm just in the process of shifting 20 albums through Sonicstage to LP2, and it's really, really, slow and annoying! BAD SONY! The lowest bitrate I have pushed my music to is 105kbps. Anything below just sounds pants and makes yer ears bleed!
