Confirmed Third Generation Hi-MD Release Date For USA
reefbeef replied to Christopher's topic in News
I didn't ask cuz Minidisco's prices seem to generally stay near list price. We probly won't see good prices 'til east coast electronics dealers get 'em. But they aren't even showing RH1's on their websites yet like they did before the release of first gen Hi-MD. Maybe we should be making some phone calls reqesting them... -

Here's an email exchange between Minidisco and myself. Still sounds kinda iffy: Do you have an ETA for the RH1? Which color? Thanks... ---------------------------------------------------------------- We're hoping to have it in 1-3 weeks. As far as we know, it only comes in black. Matt Minidisco www.minidisco.com -

Did they say which color they expect? -
Does anyone have any tips on mastering a recording to make it sound as good playing through speakers as it does playing through headphones? I use AT Cardioids spaced earwidth apart with a 9V battery module, usually Line In at level 30 on an NH1 (hopefully an RH1 soon.) I think spacing the mics further apart would help, but this is not an option in stealth situations. Thanks in advance...

USB cord straight to the power adaptor...shweet. Is that a first? Bye bye plastic NH1 space shuttle stand.
-
Doesn't appear to be one...

Too bad there's not atleast a pause button. Then one could set the recorder in pause record and unpause from the remote to start recording. Nonetheless, it's still pretty cool.
-
Could this be used to start and stop recording on a RH1?

Thinking outside the box is fine. I just hope the boxes shipped to the US have black RH1's in them. -

If flights weren't so expensive right now, I'd book a flight to Amsterdam and pick one up. But that ain't an option. It's now May 17th and no RH1's in sight...and the Soundpro's website says early June. -

BLACK RH1! BLACK RH1! BLACK RH1!... -
Good enough. Hope I don't lose it... Thanks.

Does the remote supplied with the RH1 have a clip that swivels simlar to the 40ELK?

Please reread title of thread. Sony is currently the only manufacturer of Hi-MD devices. The article states: "Sony's company-wide effort to drive PS3 sales and defend its home turf comes with a hefty price. The company says operating profits will tumble 48 percent in the fiscal year to March 2007 as heavy start-up costs for PlayStation 3 push its game division deep into the red." If PS3 and Blu-ray fail and Sony becomes broke, do you think they are going to put money into R&D for Hi-MD?
-
From this article, it sounds like Sony has a lot riding on the PS3 release in 6 months. Maybe this will have an effect on the future of MD... At the very least, the article may take your mind off of waiting for the RH1 for a few minutes. http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle....logy+NewsNews-6

Another reason why it's better for Sony to market 1 really good recorder rather than a few half baked ones... On the other hand, all of this for a hundred bucks less than the RH1 alone.

Where was this open house/line show in March? -
MDfreak, now that you're done with the RH1, please send it to me along with 3 grams of caramella.
-
Anxiously awaiting...do you have an idea of when this might be?
-
I remember ainticipating the release of the NH1 (and HiMD in general) and as soon as it was available in the US the electronics stores in NYC were shipping 'em out. Datavis sold the NH1 for $309 which I think was the lowest price on opening day...I hope the RH1 is like $274.
-
Joke or not, my understanding is that the electronics division has to get permission from the entertainment division: "this agreement came with the proviso that we never innovate on our own again without explicit permission from them."
-
I don't think it says MD is dead, just that the electronics division has to get permission from the entertainment division before developing anything from here on out.

Is this a new feature? Ozpeter, I have found that maxing out the auto T mark to 60mins on my NH1 minimizes the headache.
