  1. Yeah, but discs get shuffled between cases. I don't bother labelling cases.
  2. What are you guys using to view this video? I downloaded realplayer, but it says can't play file...
  3. Did you speak to a Sony rep? Did he/she say anything about availability (when, what, where?)
  4. I recently got a 5 pack of the newer clear blue blanks. The discs are pretty slick, but what's up with the labels? What am I to do with those tiny bubble stickers made out of low grade recycled paper? I need more space to put the info that I like to for my live recordings (i.e. mics used, levels, members of group, etc.) Anyone have a good source for labels?
  5. MDfreak, How does the unit handle ergonomically? Also, the record and eject buttons don't appear to be as undesirably obtrusive in your photos. This was a reservation I had from other photos. They appearted to stick out kindof akwardly...as if it wouldn't sit right in your pocket.
  6. Great photos. It retains recording settings!!! I'm in for sure. No doubt. In these photos, the black finish looks kinda rough, not like a brushed aluminium. Is this because it's an early model (prototype?)?
  7. Hmmm...I thought that's what the silver button on the left of this image is for:
  8. Anyone know what item 2 is? A built in mic? Speaker?
  9. This thing looks so sexy. I hope I don't call my girlfriend 'RH1' on accident tonight.
  10. Really? Can you post a link? Kurisu, which dimension is correct?
  11. NH1 dimensions: 81.7w x 14.8d x 76.1h mm, 107g w/10g batt RH1 dimesions: 87.7×17.3×87.7mm 106g (including battery) So I guess it's a bit bigger...If they don't give us retainable recording settings, this unit is not much friendlier for stealth recording. I really hope we don't have to reset levels everytime. But if we do, I'll still probably get one to upload legacy recordings and trip out on that cool blue display.
  12. What about the cradle? Is there one at all? If yes, will the cradle connect to PC? Will we need the cradle to charge as with the NH1 (in addition to charging via USB)? Where is the USB port on it? The pics don't show...
  13. When or how can we find out about maintaining recording settings? What other live recording features are new besides L and R level meters on the main unit? Otherwise, very exciting news. I'm in for sure...I like the thinner remote like the one that came on my MZ-R90. I don't like the bulky one on my NH1.
  14. How do you guys know where the in/out jacks are? Is there another photo of the unit besides Kurisu's intial post? Which way does it open? Can't see a hinge in the photo.
  15. I bought the 12V version and notice significant reduction in recording levels when compared to the 9V batt module. Don't know why...maybe the one I got is defective. I'm awaiting an explanation from SP. Very disappointed.
  16. I'm rootin' for you, Mighty Marcnet... I just always dreamt of selling these ideas to Sony. Yeah, right!
  17. ***SONY*** I have a couple of Million Dollar ideas that I am giving you for free: 1. Please add the ability to Set Timer Recording (i.e. tell unit to start recording in 5, 10, 15 mins.) This would be very handy in stealth situations when recording in PCM. 2. The unit should have the ability to switch from PCM to Hi-SP or other codec when there are only a few minutes left on the disc to record. This would extend the recording time for the unexpected encores without sacrificing sound quality for the majority of the recording. I accept cash or check. Thank you.

    New Hi MD Model?

I love my NH1 except for the fact that I have to reset the levels for each recording every time. Can't it just stay at Line In, Manual Gain Level 30? I hate (ok, dislike) fumbling with those tiny buttons in stealth situations. Too stressful. And it doesn't look like we'll be seeing a live recording friendly Sharp anytime soon so BRING IT ON!!!
  19. Now that SS 3.4 doesn't freeze my discs from editing after upload, uploads reliably, and doesn't leave gaps at the track marks - I may have to ween myself off of the paranoiac's method. Thanks, Dex.
  20. Does SS 3.4 pause playback at trackmarks as in previous versions? Example: Hook up HiMD recorder via usb and play live recording in transfer window. Previous SS versions would momentarily pause at each track mark I still upload using the paranoiac's method, and this has been a problem in the past. If it is still a problem, I guess I'll have to continue setting auto track mark to 60 mins. on my NH1.
  21. Thanks, Tim. Did you notice an improvement in regards to sound quality?
  22. Which spec on a microphone would one need in order to know the ideal voltage to apply to it? V=IR hmmmmmm...
  23. Thanks, Dex and GreenMachine... I had not heard or thought of possible over-voltage. I am using AT Slimline Cardioids http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/gold/item/SP-CMC-8 into Soundpro's mini battery module (9V) http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/.../item/SP-SPSB-6 I am looking to upgrade (or atleast I had thought it would be an upgrade) to the super mini 12V http://www.soundprofessionals.com/cgi-bin/.../item/SP-SPSB-2 since it is smaller and I thought the added voltage would be a good thing. The description for the mics states that they can take 9-52V of Phantom power. Does this mean I have nothing to worry about with the 12V batt mod? Also, Greenmachine, are SP's batt mods the 2 wire type you speak of? Thanks, again...
  24. Can anyone currently using the new 12V battery modules comment on the difference between the older 9V ones? Can you capture more sound before clipping? Noticable improvement in mic performance? Do you still go Line In at level 30?
