RH1 with Hi-MD inserted, connected to PC, press play in SS and a digital signal is sent to the optical out. This has been the case with Hi-MD before the RH1 (my NH1 did this). I guess I gotta just start trusting SS and using the tools that are available. I'll try uploading a less important recording first. From there, I can play .wav files and get the optical out from the PC to the burr-brown DAC's on my Denon amp and let them work their magic.

When connecting the RH1 to PC with a legacy MD in it, playback is only through the headphone out of the RH1, not the PC speakers or optical out. This prohibits two things I was hoping to do: 1. Playback via optical out of PC to optical in on home stereo. 2. Paranoiacs Method of real time digital uploading. See small print on page 18 of manual. Just FYI...

MDC Update: Just got RH1. Date shipped was July 4, 2006. So, it actually got here pretty quickly from when it was sent. But, the order was placed June 21, 2006. Also, got an email from MDC apologizing for the delay in shipment and offered 2 free Hi-MD's on next order. It said they were looking for an alternative to Canada Post/USPS for USA orders. At work and only have 1.5 hrs left, so will wait to charge full 3 hrs at home... As for B&H out of stock, I'd call them. But from what I hear, they run a tight ship so it probably is out of stock.

If I had known MDC would take this long, I would've waited for the NYC retailers to start shipping. But, B&H says out of stock...

Another one meaning another unit? I haven't gotten anything...I'm lucky I got the tracking number from Darren over the phone. I really doubt they sent one out that got lost. I think it's as someone else said earlier that they didn't have the units or ran out and did what they had to to hold our orders. That in combo with the holidays. I didn't know there were two Canadian holidays (thought only one) in addition to the 4th of July on this end slowing delivery. Maybe in light of that, everything they've said so far is legit. I don't know...just hope it arrives soon.

Mine says this on the usps site: Your item left PURO MONTR, CANADA on July 06, 2006. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later. How long did it take for yours to get from Puro Montr, Canada to your city? thanks...

MDC UPDATE I called and they picked up. Darrin said what happened with my order happened with 3 different orders. It went out yesterday and he gave me the tracking number to track on canadapost.ca. Once it crosses the border, it can be tracked on usps.com. He said usually takes 4 business days which'd be Monday.

So you actually got a tracking info email? When did you get it and when did u place ur order? I placed mine June 21st. It's supposed to finally go out today, but not tracking info yet...

Same here. Finally got a response from MDC via email. They gave me the same story (they said it was sent out last week, they ordered a trace on the order and Cananda Post can't find it. They are sending 'another' and I am to let them know if I get two of them.) Disappointing...

So far they are totally dropping the ball. I will give a recap in detail of how this went down at some point, but in short, they seem to have lost my order between when it was placed and when it was supposed to ship and now they don't know where it is and are not responding to voicemails or emails asking them to clue me in or allow me to cancel my order.

Rumz or anyone else who ordered from MDC: Have you gotten tracking info? Mine was supposed to go out Tues, but have received any tracking and they do not pick up the phone or return voicemails or emails...

Does anyone have any experience with Minidisc-Cananda? I ordered an RH1 last Thursday and was told it would go out Tues. So Far no tracking info and they never pick up the phone or return my voicemail.

So Soundpro's got black. So far the best deal would've been preorder from them when they were at 299. When they were saying silver RH1 and black M200, and then raised the price to 350, I had to go MDC for 310 guaranteed black.

I also ordered mine from MDC. US$325 shipped is pretty good. From their FAQ, it sounds like shipments to Canada and the US take 1-6 business days. I find this hard to beleive with customs, but let's hope! My shipping address is different than my billing cuz ship to work. Even though this is a verified address with my card, I still had to return a phone call from MDC to verify. Anyways, got back to them too late and todays shipments already went out. They have a holiday Monday, so it won't ship 'til Tuesday. SUX!!! Rumz, please let me know when urs arrives so I can estimate how long mine will take.

nice. their site says 'order' not 'preorder' or anything. Do they have them yet? ooops. just reread. says end of June. This is a possibility at $306US. Although customs would slow delivery substantially.

Yeah, that's been up there for a couple months now. I think the info from 'ugotadeal' is more current, I just don't know if it's complete. Maybe he is getting shipments of silver first, but black will soon available. If it's not, I may hold out and see what it'd take to get a black one. It just looks so much more sleek in the pics, and makes the display look more impressive.

Anyone know if it is official that the US model will be silver? Maybe Sony will ship both black and silver. I think both are available in Japan.

Good find. That's good news and bad news. Good news is maybe they are here. Bad news is it's silver... This may be a Japan model, though. If it were black, I'd get it no doubt.

If you can hold out, I'd hold out. I don't think you'll be disappointed. But I am a bit concerned, too. On top of there being none in the US, it sounds like they're are somewhat scarce in Europe as well. Please excuse this Ipod refernece, but when Apple announced the Nano, the thing hit the stores like the next day! Maybe that's not a fair comparison being that Apple is based in the US and Sony in Japan, but, man... I don't know how many times I can reread the MDcenter.nl reveiw (albeit great) and look at pictures to maintain enthusiasm.

Yeah, see, that's the suggested retail price, right? That's too much. It'd be almost $400 to your doorstep. I'm hoping we can get one for about $275, delivered for $300.
