  1. wait a second... When you all write about LP2 it is Atrac3 format, right?? The most of my disc are coded at Atrac3plus 132kbps and few at 105kbps and HiLP according to quality of the original source or to the use that I give them (home or street listening). My NF610 @LP2 and the NH900 @Atrac3plus 132kbps sound way too similar.
  2. Waiting for ASOT 183 ... shame on you ID&T
  3. I just ordered the remote 40ELK from PlanetMinidisc.com, but I miswrote the shipping address , I sent an email where is the valid address. Lets hope everything goes fine ...
  4. http://www.applefritter.com/node/4730 The remote isnt that bad. The display seems easy to read, the buttons seem comfortable and easy to use according to the pictures, besides only using it, one can say whether it is good or not for sure. However, once I pay for it I stick with it comfortable or not ... p.s. On the top of all things it is a cool add-on for any Sony portable player indeed.
  5. I think that the main reason isnt to use it for recording, it is just to have a cool gadget. Is this to squander my money or it is not ??
  6. Actually, any 1400NiMH prismatic battery is a must for the NH900 http://espanol.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/carm...7&.dnm=221c.jpg
  7. Well My NH900 goes throught almost 9 hours at 132kbps Atrac3plus with a 1400mAh prismatic, I've never tested the supplied battery. When I attach the external battery case with an AA Alkaline I get about 30 hours. I didnt know that one can mix a prismatic NiMH rechargeable with an AA NiMH rechargeable of different amperage in the same electronic device, but according to Blu-Wav that is possible, safe and it gives a excelllent battery life. Another thing is: Did you turn off the Quick Mode? When I tested my NH900 for the first time I got the same battery performance as you, fortunately it was matter of reading some pages of the manual and presto! However the battery perfomance of the NH900 is bad if it is compared, for example, with the MZ-N910 for the same bitrate. Anyway Im very happy with mine
  8. I meant I CAN NOT ORDER IT FORM AUDIOCUBES ... Thanks for the info, so now I must start to sell my old CD receiver Eclipse, my discman Panasonic and other few things to cover the cost: remote+shipping Miami+shipping South America+taxes
  9. Hi there , I want to buy the RM-MC40ELK universal remote, however, due to Im a non-US credit card holder I can order it from Audiocubes, so my option is PlanetMinidisc.com. I'd like to know if this store has good ratings or if the store is a trusted one. are US$100 bucks really worthy?? http://www.planetminidisc.com/rm-mc40elk.html
  10. Pretty cool site indeed (( (( (( d b )) )) ))
  11. It is possible to mix two rechargeable batteries even if one is NiMH and the other one is LiIon on the NH900???
  12. I will tell you about my experience with S.S.: If you have a mp3 file which doesnt transfer to the MD, you should check out the bit rate. If the file is VBR then code it to CBR. If you are transfering from a CD, check out if it has some scratches which may make the laser unable to read some parts of the song. If I am not wrong, I tried once to transfer a couple of song at Atrac3 105kbps to my NF610 but it wasnt able to play them back, I don't remember it well, maybe I will have to try it again...
  13. I have this silly question: is there a significant difference (in terms of recording/playing quality) among the brand or type of the disc (Color MD, gold MD, bianca MD, etc.). Thanx in advance.
  14. Right now, Im listening on 80min disc @ Atrac3 132kbps: Armin Van Buuren - A State Of Trance 2004 Yearmix 2005-01-06 (2 hours set) (((( d b )))))
  15. Why dont you try the MZ-NH1 manual
  16. Sony has these new CD receivers: CDX-S2210, CDX-R5515X and CDX-F7715X. They can play Atrac3Plus, it is not MD but you get the format besides the F7715x has an auxiliary input so you can plug any portable device. In fact, I have the F7700 and I plug my NH900 to the receiver almost every time I take a drive http://www.crutchfield.com/S-xe715nqVvCh/c...=FFBrand%7CSony
  17. It depends on the source, but most of times 132kbps is far better than Hi-LP :rasp:
  18. "When the source song is a sampled mp3 file from 256kbps to 320kbps or WAV the difference between Atrac3plus Hi-SP and Hi-LP is imperceptible." I'll make myself clear: If I convert the same .WAV file to HiSP and to HiLP then the difference between HiSP and HiLP is difficult to hear. Even if the file is a mp3 compressed to 256kbps for later to be converted to HiSP or HiLP. Perhaps it's my hearing level or the h/p that I use, I dont know but that's what I perceive  ...
  19. I ordered a MZNH900 at the first days of September but until last Friday (Dec. 17) I finally got it. Since then My experince with it has been pretty nice. I've tested the play function only so here I go: The hardware The MZNH900 is a beautiful piece of hardware, it's fairly slim and the front design is fantastic with that silver/black combination. The jog dial is VERY useful doing the menu navigation and tracks selection become in very simple tasks. The display is big enough to see all info that one needs to know, beside it is possible to modify the display contrast to read better so it's ok to me. The buttons are ok too, the five ways control key is sort of complicated but I guess anyone can get used to it. I'm using kleenex to operate the recorder to avoid to leave my fingerprints around the buttons. The remote is great, very comfortable to use, to read and to carry on. I can do anything from the remote. The Sound For testing the sound I used the Philips SBC-HP800 headphones. These were my results: When the source song is a sampled mp3 file from 256kbps to 320kbps or WAV the difference between Atrac3plus Hi-SP and Hi-LP is imperceptible. When the source song is a sampled mp3 file from 128kbps to 192kbps the difference between Atrac3plus Hi-SP and 132kbps is imperceptible. But with regard to Hi-LP I can hear a small difference, however it can be fixed somehow with the six band equalizer. The equalizer is a great option due to it allows to improve the sound according to the kind of headphones, for low sound quality of a record or song or for personal test. The Virtual Surround is a good option but I dont use it, I think it's meant to use with an auxiliar amplifier (without line out setting). The software SonicStage is a basic software, it is easy to use. The only drawback is if I want to update it Im force to reinstall it on-line. The battery Life When I started to use the MD with a 1400mAh prismatic the battery life lasted about only five hours (Atracplus 132kbps). I was very disappointed but I didnt know that the recorder is factory set to quickly start so I set this mode off. Now I have listened about eight hours just with two bar drop. So I have no complaints so far. The Extras I bought a digital camera bag for the minidisc (it fits perfect) because the recorder seems very fragil so I was afraid to drop it, only when I'm going to download new music I take it out from the bag. additionally, I bought two prismatic 1400mAh GP batteries with charger to get a better battery life performance so I havent used the battery that comes with the MD. http://espanol.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/carm...lbum?.dir=/d6b7 The only one thing left now is to enjoy it   Happy New Year!!!  p.d. sorry for my English
  20. Hi there, here are some pics: http://espanol.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/carm...lbum?.dir=/d6b7 The first one includes my Christmas present: the Sony Xplod CDX-F7700, It doesnt play back Atrac only mp3 and wav but it has an auxiliar input where one can plug any device.
