I saw something traumatic yesterday as well, a car accident between a passengers car against a bus, with the corpse of the car driver trapped in the metal... that makes you to think about how valuable is your life. You're here now, you don't know tomorrow

well, actually that was the name picked up by Mazda for this region, you might know better as Mazda 323 Fastbreak

If I were Sony, I would tried to buy two or three radio stations with that money so I wouldnt needed to do any "payola", even more, I would gone after the MTV Networks that way I might push the Atrac format and all its devices into the masses

hi Lee, it looks like you're looking for a portable digital player with other features with regard to the HDD. You would have three options: CD players, Flash memory players and of course the minidisc players. Im going to tell you why you should give it a try to the minidisc format: if we compare the advantages of all these players (except the recording), the minidisc would win none but it would be the second in everything, for example: the CD is a popular media, but you can not rip music in your cd player, besides the MD player fits in you pocket. Well, the flash memory player fits even better, but how much cost an extra 1G flash memory, US$6?... nah. About the HDD players you wrote the reason already, add to that 15 hours of battery life for HDD and 60 for HiMD players. You might fill 20gigas HD with music, but how many favorite songs do you really listen in a single day, a couple of gigas perhaps? that makes a couple of 1G minidiscs. Having said that, I'd suggest the MZ-RH10 for the reason that it can play mp3 files, I dont know if you're aware of Atrac format for MD devices. If not, I brief you then: the Atrac is an audio file compression format development by Sony intented to reduce the size of the audio file and protect it against unauthorized copies, that is more or less some about Atrac (Ah-trac btw ). Like I said the MZ-RH10 is the suitable choice because it works with easy to find batteries (internal and external), the batteries are cheap, it has a nice OLED display and it's cheaper than the MZ-NH1. If you are interested in a LCD remote, I suggest you to look for the RM-MC33EL or RM-MC38EL, both are the stick remote and you can get any of them easily at eBay, planetminidisc.com or audiocubes.com. But if you really are obsessed with MZ-NH1 remote like me and have the money, why not?... However some members assure that the remote RM-MC40elk doesnt stay illuminated when is used with the RH10. Think about it and let us know your decision.

I purchased the charger + two 1400 GP prismatic (gumstick) batteries combo a way before I got my NH900, mainly because the reviews I read about the battery packed along with the device. So I've never tried it. About the performance of the 1400 GP battery which has the same charge as the Sony NH-14WM, I did a mini test to check the battery life a days ago and I must admit that I am kind of disappointed not because the battery itself but with the NH900, this was the test: Almost all my music is converted at 132k, in this bit rate the NH900 + 1400GP gumstick + AA 2100Amh + 1giga disc + volume level 15 + 16ohm earphones combo reached ~28 hours of continuous playback. The manual says ~30 hours for the Sony NH-10WM which is actual 900Amh + AA alkaline so my results arent what I would want, in fact the battery life diminishes when the playback isnt continuous, so Im talking about ~20 hours (1400 gumstick+2100 AA ) with the right conditions (volume level, headphones impedance, bit rate, disc type, number of tracks, moisture, temperature of air, etc. ). With regard to the prismatic performance I've never tested it alone, but I would expect ~14 hours of playback at most. Summarizing, I dont know whether the bad performance is a hardware issue (I hope it isnt) or it is a battery issue (memory effect or something like that) . p.s. I havent used the battery of the Sharp in the Nh900, Im going to do it and see what happen. [attachmentid=424]

I rip my cds backup @ SP. For the Internet radio shows I use lp2 or 132k. The English lessons are @ 48k.
-
Right now the 2g disk would be kind of useless to me, 1g disk is more than enough: 8 hours @256k and 16 hours @lp2 for outdoor use is fairly good .

... right now, I should be sleeping (12AM) I must be early in the morning at work
-
... besides the PS3 will work with Blu-Ray technology, so this is the way to go
-
In spite of being a NetMD remote, the mc33el remote should work just fine (all functions), I say this because the first Sony HD player came with this remote.
-
Coolest gadget... well, I must name three: first the Sharp MD player due to the way I got it, amazing ; second the remote rm-mc40elk due to it seems as if I was the only person with one of those in the entire city and third the ps2 due to it is cool to play Metal Gear once in a while.

The Sony E10 is my nicest looking MD device, however out there, there's one even nicer: Sony Qualia-017.
