in great news the conservative australian treasurer was talking yesterday about adding fair use to australia's copywrite laws. it's illegal in australia to tape audio or video from tv/radio & to rip cds to pmps. not sure if this will cover copying cds for use in the car too. australia has a free trade agreement with the US so i'd say the ARIA & RIAA will be keeping a creepy eye on everything though.

i had exactly the same problem & stopped using it when even playback only mode it started to delete tracks off dics.
