  1. Tuner is on the remote, and remote is not backlit. if your budget allowed..try go for nh900 instead.
  2. Quite a few people have recommended buying those gumstick batteries off ebay, and many people have bought stuff on ebay with positive experience. I have peruse some of those batteries (very affordable) advertise on ebay, as I had never purchase items on ebay. It makes me nervous and worried. how reliable and trustworthy about those merchants I saw on ebay? are they fly-by-night operations.. with your statement like that, it just makes me wanna shy away from ebay altogether. Personally, I would stick to Internet merchants that have web presence or web store (that is not thru ebay) rather. my $.02
  3. if you are set your sight on NH900. hmmm.. would you mind, send your extra $30 my way? hehe..J/K seriously though, order it from Datavis. they are in NY too..but only cost you $239 online. but heck, if you are willing to spend extra $30 for the same thing.. go right ahead.
  4. hmmm, isn't Sony Metreon near where you are? I mean that store is in SF. I don't get it. why you want to pay the extra shipping cost? when you can get some in actual sony store..
  5. Sonystyle will charge you $20 for shipping, if you wanted more than 5 shipped. I think I saw someone said that.

    NH- 800 vs NH900

why don't you post a pic of 800 remote when backlited, just so prove to those who said the remote doesn't have backlit in the wrong! personally, I'd like to see that too
  7. they also has this under their nh900 description: "Headphone output level 3mW+3mW 16 Ohms" I wonder if that is also an error?
  8. Yes, you can. It's not the encoder that you need (correct me if I am wrong), but rather it's any Hi-MD recorder that you need, plus any discs that has been formatted into Hi-MD format.
  9. her MD player, was it NetMD? MDLP MD? or Pre MDLP/NetMD player?
  10. Apple sure left a alot of stuffs (accessories) out as newer generation of Ipod comes out. You might wanna tack on another $20 to $100US to the cost of Ipod, as current generation of Ipod leave so much out...like Carrying Case, Dock, Remote.
  11. Is there any way for you to obtain Ni-MH batterie and charger at your local electronics/camera shop? it's better than using dry cell batterie. I'd suspect that your local electronic shop should also sells all sorts of ac adapter as well.
  12. I don't get what you mean. Are you saying Audiocubes is only etailer that is available to you, if you want some Hi-MD discs now? I notice that you are in Chicago area. If you are currently reside in U.S., there are few US Etailers that has those discs advertise on their website. However, Jadeclaw's case is different. Audiocubes is only option for him, if he wants some of those discs now, since it's the only US etailer that will ship internationally.
  13. MD headunit would be your best bet.
  14. my thought on this is, Sony intend to leave Mac Users out. why can't Sony put a lot of effort into their R&D, so their first HDD DAP entry can play other codecs besides ATRAC. Instead of your wishful thinking, my wishful thinking is that Sony should just make their HDD players capable of playing all sort of codecs..ie ogg vorbis, mp3, wav, etc..etc. Not only it can compete Ipod, but it will leave all other HDD DAPs in the dust. The way I see it, this Sony HDD DAP has no potential to be better than Ipod. In fact, it will just be like any other HDD DAP on PC side.
  15. agreed totally, Ipod is the only HDD DAP in Mac world, there is no competition. just like Macs, no Mac clones whatsoever, and Apple is sole manufacturer of Macs.
  16. woohooo!! finally. Eventhough, I got their email saying they are available just yesterday. but I was finally seeing their NH900 unit page gets updated!! from PRE-ORDER >>>>>> IN STOCK. hope they don't have any problems processing my order. hmm, so far tis the only (and the First) etailer I found that has em listed as in stock on the website, even J&R is still listed in Pre-order.
  17. how about you check these two threads out, and decide yourself! http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5631 http://forums.minidisc.org/viewtopic.php?t=5718
  18. hehe, now would you stop giving error information to the public! as owner of mz-nf610, I can assure you, it does include AM/FM/TV and weather band (same applies to nf810) on the remote. just not with current generation of Sony NetMDs (nf520d), as it without the AM band. :rasp:
  19. those discs are in short supply, as demand greater than supply! the one you saw in Ebay, that's price gouging, those ppl whoever pay a disc for such price is far too Desperate!!
  20. are these 3 features deem important to you? afaik, the radio feature is on the remote. Not only limit yourself on choice of units, but it would cost arm and a leg to replace it, if it becomes unuseable. eventhough, Hi-MD is big step forward from MD-LP/NetMD, and capable of storing files. But as I said b4, you are limit yourself on choices of units available, For one, Sony is the "ONLY" manufacturer that supports it currently. If you really like the format, I would suggest you wait and see, and hope Sharp or other MD manufacturer produce Hi-MD units. it would help ppl narrowing down on choice of units that suit you best, if you can tell us if those 3 features whether or not important to you!!
  21. slight OT um, I wonder what Sony manufacturer/distributors was thinking. how could they release top unit b4 2nd highest unit?!?!? this is so stupid!!! damn it, I am jealous to those who has gotten their mds. as I am in the same boat with those ppl wanting their nh900, still has no clue when will any of online e-tailers will have them in stock other than SonyStyle stores!! end of my rant, thnx for reading.

    Two MD questions

    2. as long as she records songs in "Real Time" in "SP" mode, and not download songs from PC. it will play on your unit just fine.
  23. 1. 8xx uses AAs, so "YES"!! 3. YES. 4. 8xx does not include dry cell pack attachment, and only has 1 battery compartment within the unit. choose one or both? hmmm..decisions, decisions. You figure it out!!! 9xx is the best bet for you. unless you really want the radio with the unit.
  24. woo, is this a trick question? as you know, some folks pre-order dated back in April, and some ordered just last week. not to mention choices of shipping methods... some chose 2nd day or next day. some chose ground. geee, how do you want them to answer? IMO, all I can say is..YMMV.
  25. hmmm, these units comes to mind, Sharp MDs (md-dr77, md-dr580/dr80, md-dr7) and top unit of Sony Hi-MD unit (mz-nh1). why I include sony's nh1 in the list? well, it's new Hi-MD format, which means you have less discs to exchange during your recording session, plus there's vu meter on the remote itself. regards of sharp units, I am sure some one can explain better. since I don't own sharp units.
