Units: MZ-NH1 Daily use: listen to music on the train to school, during study periods, at home whilst doing jobs round the house, on long car/plane trips interstate or overseas, in my bedroom as background music, whilst I am studying, recording myself or a friend playing their musical instrument, recording the Brass Band I am part of at concert/competitions... Favourite use: Recording myself, my students, friends and bands I am part of so that we can then listen back to the recording and see where technical/sound mistakes were made, so that we can improve. Professional Use: Recording practice sessions and Students (Trombone Students) Request: Echoing what KrazyIvan said - Keep MD/Hi-MD alive and kicking! Get rid of the cheesy plastic players! Go for quality build. Definitely keep the recording Hi-MD's on, without these MD's that can record so well, we wouldn't be able to record at all!, Make larger disc sizes (2-5gb disc), have longer battery life, and allow mp3 files onto MD units!

Yeh read about that in an IT Newsletter Yesterday. Aparantly Microsoft is for the HD-DVD format... I hope they don't make both media types... koz then it will be very annoying/expensive/confusing for all consumers!

I must say Chris I am REALLY liking the upgrade and the extra features I have been using! The new 'Quick Edit' Feature I love, so quick to edit posts now! And it seems to take a LOT LESS time to post replies now, which is excellent. The new look reply box I really like as well. One question. Is there any way you can get a spell checker to check over the reply before you post it in the "Add Reply" section? Just a thought. I know you can copy the text into Word or what have you and edit the spelling there... but I was just wondering. Also just incase you forgot about these things Chris That cool font you used for the Number of views a post has etc, and then legend at the bottom of the home/index page, notifying users of the different kinds of users, Admins in Blue, Financial in red... etc....

Sorry for being so nieve, but has Sony uped the playable .mp3 bit rate to 320kb/s yet on the new 2nd gen models? or have they still stopped it at 120kb/s?? And does this have the aditional 'add on battery pack' where a battery can be attached for extra long playback?

Sony Hi-MD Walkman MZ-NH1 Pictorial
MZ-NH1 replied to Ishiyoshi's topic in Product Reviews/Pictorials
Mate your pictures are stunning! So clear and well defined! Do you just zoom in? With my camera, it have to put it in Macro mode, then I can zoom in that close, with that clearness. -
Yeh... Ishi very good suggestions... Maybe for Live Recordings have quite a lot of lists.. for specific music, Like Brass Band, Heavy Rock, Punk, Phunk, POP, Vocal, Solo instruments.... Maybe something like that? Maybe under DISC PICS... have like. MD's, Mics, Accessories...? I know it is a little like Equipment... but it saught of isn't either if you get me.
-
If this is the case... what do you guys suggest as an alternative recording device? I mean we all have our current MD's and if we want, then of course we can order from overseas... Sony is cutting MD's WORLDWIDE... just Australia unfortunatley... But what would you recommend for a recording device in the Aussie market? Anything? an iRiver...? I hear they are ok...

WHAT!!!! This has to be a joke!!!! or incorrect info!!! No way! DAMN!

Bought the Sony MD MZ-NH1, so because I really didn't know what else to have as my nick name, decided to use the brand model name Was gonna have Trombone Freak (since I am very good at the Trombone ), or Trombonist, or Big Boner... but thought they wern't as appropriate

<s>Sorry to say, but it is a pitty for all the new 2nd Gen MD users, if Sony bring out some new devices in like another month or so, that can use this new CONNECT PLAYER, and can record n stuff...</s>

I AGREE!!!! Everything is so much cheaper in the US, yet hardly anyone will ship out to Aussie!!! Amazon.com only ship DVD's and books out. It is very frustraiting!

Yeh I agree, as the newspaper said, and as I also believe, I think Bush just went out there for photo opportunities... I mean he has given $10 billion in support... but why didn't he send out help sooner? Shouldn't there have been a procedure once they realised it would be a severe storm... so they people could be put on the ground asap after the storm?
-
Yeh keep them updated. The quality of the pics are heaps good, and I think because most of the pics have reviews below them, even more people will want to buy the units because they have got 'legit' feedback, compared to a Sony rep, who might not know much about the product. Great work guys!
-
Excellent Idea!!! That's great stuff!
-
Ok. Thanks very much for all that info. Will start to look into it!
-
They are both the mics I have as my Signature - Sony Stereo Microphone... VVVVVVV (down below)
-
Some EXCELLENT IDEAS! If only Sony were looking at this and acting on it! Touch screen!, long battery life! all types of things can be stored... really good. Maybe also let the unit have like 10GB of HDD space internally... so we don't have to continuosly change the discs...

I am wanting to record myself (Trombone) and my mates (Saxophone, Tuba and Drum Kit) for my final year composition... I will have a backing CD Playing with a recording of the current composition, but I am wanting the have 'live' instruments play in the composition recording as well. So what I was going to do was to have all players (4) all wear headphones which connect to the CD player, and then play the CD to keep us in time, and then record us playing our parts... I would then upload the recording into Adobe Audition, and copy the two different recordings together... What I am wondering, is can you connect two Microphones into 1 MD? You can connect two headphones to a MD by using the double adapters; can this be done with mics as well? If so... would I then have a mic designated for left and 1 for right hand side sound? And can this be done? Hope this all makes sence, and I hope this topic hasn't been covered somewhere else. I have searched, but not found anything. p.s Chris, if you read this, it took 1.27mins to load this thread when I pressed Post New Topic...
