oh I havent seen the unit yet, my mate says hes tried it on multiple machines. Hes a bit thick, probably didnt install the driver right. I'm not too bothered about downloading, I rarely do it anyway and I can use my NH900.

just bought this unit for £15 with all accessories, nothing at all wrong with it other than the fact it cant download (which is what my NH900 is for). What can you all tell me about it? I've read the equipment browser bit but now I need user opinions lol. Whats the sound like? Is the 1-bit amp similiar to an Auvi? Is it all plastic or is there some metal in the construction? thanks in advance

right, sonicstage has started with the 'cannot find database' error with SS3.3, so I installed 3.4 and get the same message. I then: 1, reinstalled several times 2, removed sonicstage, simple burner, all OpenMG files, and my sony camera files ( ) from my sytem, and reinstalled 3, used the 'MDAC' tool 4, removed all sonicstage related stuff from the registry 5, tried to install SS2.0 (with a view to writing over it) still no joy. I am getting sick of this and i have loads of old vinyls to upload, can anybody please help me? I cant use an alternate piece of software, I need the upload ability. I never use this c**p for download. thanks in advance (I've also tried system restore, but I never enabled them...)

hmmm... - 2 FAT 'Drives' on one Hi-MD so we can get 2.5GB (ish) - DECENT BUILD QUALITY - as big as the NH1 - as light as the NH1 - Li-Ion - 2 External AA attachments, one for 2 batterys - how easy would it be for sony to claim higher battery life then? - remote similiar to the iRiver LCDs - OLED did I miss anything out?

get the NH1 - clearly slimmer, smaller, better remote, what more do you want?

hey, been playing around with SS3.3 for a couple of hours now and cant get my head around the 'new' bitrate options: 1, how do I get ATRAC3+ 352? I cant seem to find it anywhere 2, what are the differences between the Advanced Lossless versions of the codecs and the standard versions? 3, what is the difference between 'normal' and 'high' quality settings for the same bitrate?

would it be possible to copy digitally by playing the Hi-MD through sonicstage on a computer with a digital output?

I have just bought my 2nd MD unit! I got fed up with having to wait for radio or vinyl recordings to finish before I could listen to stuff I only have on MD. So now the N710 can handle all that, £10 - off a mate who is upgrading to a HD player - with all the accessorys. Few issues though: 1, The main 4-way button in the middle of the unit is loose (any way to fix this?) 2, The battery only lasts for 3 hours (didnt I read of a way to 'recondition' Ni-MH batterys?) 3, A quick jerk will turn the unit off (this isn't that big a problem as the unit isn't going to be used portably) any ideas on how to fix these problems would be greatly appreciated - its mainly point 3 that is the real issue. cheers

anyone travelling via singapore in the near future - I jut bought 3 blue Hi-MDs for 11GBP. I also bought an SRF-M10 which I'm going to go play with now ;-) do volume restrictions apply to Radios?

quick thought - could you take one from an ATRAC CD player and DIY it into an MP player? Perhaps filling up the battery bay and using external battery packs? If you had an electronics degree it wouldnt be impossible I dont think.

well I'll let you know if this thing is any good if you like. I got a 1350Mah NH14WM with my CD player, but got fed up of switching the batterys all the time. is it the same battery as the one sony are selling do you think?

Hey guys, I just bought this 1400Mah Sanyo "HF-A1U" from a place in Perth, Australia. Cost me around 6 pounds - the man who served me said that it is the NH-14WM with a different covering - what do you guys think? If it is, I am very happy at saving a tenner!

can someone explain '24 bit processing' for me? the bigger deck seems to have it

My wire goes up my back from my right pocket and I genuinly cant hear this effect, however small. Maybe I'm not listening hard enough...

I may just wear soft-soled shoes, but I dont get this effect. I'd imagine the EX71s dont go deep enough?
